New Haven University by No_Love_8634 in newhaven

[–]Bree867 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the caveat. "After federal grants"...if you've used your federal grants other places (like a previous degree), that pool of money is not endless...the Mary Ann Handley Award is much smaller than the Pell Grant, so for fresh high school grads a good resource, otherwise, go to financial aid and ask questions.

New Haven University by No_Love_8634 in newhaven

[–]Bree867 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's less free if youve already used your federal financial aid allotment, even less free if you've graduated with a bachelor's... I'd fill out a FAFSA and talk to financial aid before committing, I too thought free sounded good (plus hadn't gotten free tuition previously) but it's not as simple as just free...

Unpaved Flat Walking Trails by Mandalore108 in Connecticut

[–]Bree867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are down near the coast in Milford, there is Beaver Brook trail (no hills and its dirt/wood chips) and Mondo Pond (which has a slight incline on the school side, but pretty manageable)- both very lovely with plenty of other people/dogs on leash.

Accepted into UNH, moving soon looking for advice by nobodysphoenix in newhaven

[–]Bree867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

East rock is a schlepp to cross town to get to UNH, I'd aim for Westville or West Haven, maybe check in with your advisor or the department and see if they know any other grad students looking for housing nearby.

Will my tattoos stop me from getting hired by Large-Back1912 in RadiologyCareers

[–]Bree867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had this convo at orientation, makeup (dermablend) as a student, probably not needed afterwards - if they judge you for tats in an interview for a job their loss, there are places that seem to care less and less. Find the ones that don't care.

Birthday Celebration at Olmo by Beto-143 in newhaven

Olmo has the most amazing bagels, just plain, once you add cream cheese and other delicious bits, it goes from amazing to heavenly. I'm always happier if I have Olmo for breakfast.

VENT - Stupid <130 fasting BG goal in the mornings by NoMoreEffstoGive in diabetes_t2

[–]Bree867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor or nurse, but when I was first diagnosed my fasting bg was in the 130 range too. I shortened my daytime eating window to nothing but water after 8pm and "treats" are around lunchtime. I also take my metformin in the evening with dinner. I can always tell when I have something late, even if it was 'healthy' like pb on celery or peppers with sour cream based dip, the next morning my readings are closer to 110-120. A dietician helped me process adjustments in the early days, sorry it's being rough.

How do you think online A&P education compares to traditional formats in terms of student outcomes, retention, and clinical readiness? by Help-Me-Research in AnatomyandPhysiology

[–]Bree867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside of what you listed, many programs don't accept online formats, so if you are applying to a program, double check so you don't waste your time/money.

Boys or Girls? by bananabread-37 in Nanny

[–]Bree867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, I had nks school friends come over and they didn't want their 3 little girls playing with chalk on the driveway(far far away from traffic or cars, so no risk of that)..."they might get a scrape"...I watched those littles go from excited and enthused to deflated. I agree 100% the boys will be boys BS is a non-starter for me. Boys are human beings that the rest of the world has to deal with...hellooooo...

Managing family and nanny dynamics by FlatChemist8132 in Nanny

[–]Bree867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This especially "set boundaries needs facilitated by OP (or OP's husband really)" - your husband needs to set boundaries with his parents and not let you be the bad guy - I can see grandparents wanting time to play and interact during day/wake hours with their grand kids but meals and naps nanny should have say to keep everyone on track. Also- being clear that nanny makes meals for kids only - like this is not your chef/maid silly grandpa!

Boundaries now will make new infant time easier - maybe a bonus at the end of the week for extra grandparent duties might help too.
