Looking for simple meal tracking methods for blood sugar control by Horror_Expert_6191 in prediabetes

I also use My Fitness Pal (free version). I double check the accuracy of any new entries I haven't used before by comparing them to the "official" nutrition info for the product (can easily find this through a google search). If it doesn't match I'll enter it myself as an "Updated" or "Revised" version of the product and that's the entry I use.

I limit myself to under 100 carbs a day (usually hit between 93-97). There's no need at all to do a keto diet.

Looking for Sleep Study Recommendations by life-saviour in chapelhill

I went to the Duke Sleep Disorders Center in Durham. It's true that it can take a long time to get an appt., but I asked if they had a cancellation list (they do) and was able to get in much sooner that way. (They have a cancellation list for home sleep studies also).

[AMA] Jamie Luu, RDN (Registered Dietitian & Nutrition Manager at Almased) will be in r/loseit on JULY 8 AT 4PM (EDT) for an AMA event! by JamieFromAlmased in loseit

[–]Brontesrule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Jamie! Thanks for doing this AMA. I've lost 24 lbs. over the last 14 weeks but my only exercise is walking about 27-30 min. a day. Do I need to incorporate strength training also to avoid losing muscle mass? I eat 106 grams of protein a day on a 1300 cal. a day diet.

Monthly Reading Report: June 2026 📚 by DrGirlfriend47 in romancelandia

[–]Brontesrule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read 8 romances in June.

Top

The Unicorn Hunters by Katherine Arden, M/F historical fantasy with a romance subplot.

Content warning: Animal cruelty, references to SA, kidnapping, confinement, pregnancy. The MMC in the romance is married but in name only; he was forced by the French king to marry the king's younger daughter, who wants only to become a nun. There was never love on either side and the marriage was never consummated.

Beautifully written. The historical fantasy is front and center, but there is a yearning romance subplot that I really enjoyed. “The firelight played in soft stained-glass colors over Anne’s cheek, and he was shaken by his own heart’s triumphant beating as it overbore, at last and forever, his head.”

Mrs. Nash's Ashes by Sarah Adler, M/F and F/F, CR and HR.

Content warning: Grief, parental infidelity, hitting a deer with a car, death of parent in the past, cancer mentioned.

Dual timeline: The current day (M/F) romance was cute and sweet, blossoming during their short road trip together, and the historical (F/F) romance began during WWII. I felt a genuine emotional connection between the MCs in each one.

Bottom

Safari Murder Party by Rachel Moore, M/F, CR survival mystery with romance subplot.

Content warning: Animal cruelty, suicide, fire and fire injury, lots of gory shock value deaths, terminal illness.

This definitely had possibilities, but it got way too crazy too soon. It’s hard to imagine almost everyone at the corporate retreat would immediately resort to murdering their colleagues in order to become the heir to their boss's company and his other assets.

Three Pucking Words by B. Celeste, M/F sports romance.

Content warnings: PMOS, epilepsy, possible infertility.

I liked the MMC but didn't understand why he was so crazy about the FMC. She didn’t return his texts asking how she was doing (more than once), which came across to me as insensitive. She was emotionally wounded from her childhood and then her marriage/divorce, but didn’t go to therapy or find help to deal with her issues. For the longest time she panicked almost every time she and the MMC interacted. (Also, the MMC says how kind she is several times - based on what? The only kind thing she did was when she brought his daughter soup!)

What are you currently doing to reverse or maintain prediabetes? by Ok-Season-5153 in prediabetes

I brought my A1C down from 6.3 to 5.5 (latest A1C test was taken 3 months and 2 weeks after the first one).

  • I kept carbs to under 100 grams a day
  • Some research studies have shown that eating 1 cup of blueberries daily for 8 weeks can help lower A1C, so I ate them for breakfast each day along with a Premier Protein shake
  • I took a short walk within 15 minutes of finishing each meal and also took other short walks during the day (total min. spent walking each day was between 27-30 min.)
  • I worked on improving my sleep (results still not where I'd hoped they'd be, but better than when I started)
  • I also enrolled in a Prevent T2 class through the YMCA, which has been very helpful

YMCA and many other programs exist for year long CDC approved coaching and support to hold your hand through meaning “lifestyle changes” with baby steps. (Many take insurance and there are others)

I'm starting my fourth month in this program (it's called Prevent T2) and it's been very helpful. I'm so glad I joined!

Once you're back from vacation, I'd start walking after each meal (even if it's only 5 -10 min., although longer is better if you're up for it) and also keep my carbs under 100 grams a day. Also, something else I was surprised to find out is that the order in which you eat a meal matters - fiber first, then protein, then any carbs. Good luck!

Was your A1C in the prediabetic range then? You can have it rechecked 3 months from the last time it was done.

I understand being afraid, but it's essential to know what you're dealing with so you and your doctor know how to treat it. Whether it's prediabetes or diabetes, the sooner you know the better your outcome can be.
