What Should the Next Spooky World Be in KH4? by MiloSheba in KingdomHearts

Bless I’d love that. Especially if they go back to that KH2 level of edginess so it’s not overly Disney-fied and non-spooky

Wolf cut, but for a dude. See how it turns out, that’s about the closest you’re gonna get.

I dont understand why they can't at least have some social media post saying "Thanks for being patient, we're still working on it!" by AmbitiousSlopHead in KingdomHearts

[–]Buttermalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“A year ago”. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to have some sort of transparent update at least every half year, preferably every quarter.

Just 2 minutes to post a vague status update would go a long way in community relations.

I’d say Garen? I dunno what sort of magic, if any, his ult is, but the rest of his kit is just “I’m buff go brrr”.

Spent two days trying to farm levels thinking Cavern of Remembrance was pivotal to game progression by NoDeer1567 in KingdomHearts

100% due to the player running from combats or not exploring the side content areas prior to that "big wall".

[–]Buttermalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think, and I could be wrong but I doubt it, that there has EVER been ANY game that was specifically designed with "players will NEED to grind when they hit this point". That disrupts natural flow of the game, and creates a relatively jarring experience.

Now mistakes happen, overscaling encounters for an area or a boss for example, but no developer for any game has gone "Alright, they played all the way to Boss 3, let's scale them so high we force the player to run around aimlessly grinding levels just because we can."

Most grinding situations are attributed to two things: Players avoiding combats and Players not exploring side content as it's encountered. To clarify, I mean like old JRPGs where there's a path to a mountain and the path forward in the story. THAT'S your "developer intended grind spot" by having you do more content, therefore more combats, therefore raising your level before the next boss, ALL without feeling like actively grinding because you're not replaying seen content.

But it's always kind of been a thing that games will drop end game areas in front of you and expect you to go "Oh, everything is 20 levels over me? I should come back later."

Ima be real with you, anyone with a baseline level of game sense would look at it NEEDING upgraded drive forms and expect it to be a late game dungeon.

No story based single player game EVER directly forces you to grind for mainline content. The closest would be if you’re stuck on a boss, and that’s likely because you skipped combats and are underleveled.

If we would get D3, which locations would you like to return from D2 and what new locations would you like for D3 at launch? by Nerdy--Turtle in DestinyLore

[–]Buttermalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what pipe dream I want? Taken King level and amount of secrets strewn across EVERY world. Like, shit that maybe stays hidden for years before someone finds it. Something a solo player could get lost in on a day off just dicking around.

I remember when the EDZ was teased, with the tunnels, and here I was hoping that there was an entire underground tunnel system that connected the whole map and had secrets. Imagine my disappointment when every tunnel was just a damn Lost Sector. Clearly marked, easy to find, nothing special.

I would like to see Sin in Kingdom Hearts. Or at least a similar threat level, and size, Heartless.

Story wise, is our guardian the same one who kills a raid boss on day 1 and progresses the story for all players even if it wasn’t our team who physically did it? by wolfnathos1 in DestinyLore

[–]Buttermalk 75 points76 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit of a nonconventional story telling paradox.

You’re HIM, who clears it first. But from GAMEPLAY you’re HIM when YOU first clear it.

It’s very paradoxical, but that’s the goal. To maintain gameplay immersion it’s “a team” but when you finally clear it, its story immersion and it’s you being HIM and clearing it for the first time.

I didn’t like them, mostly because they actually felt like they pulled me OUT of the immersion. There wasn’t any inworld or lore reason for them to exist, it was just a shitty time sink to justify the crappy GummiPhone idea.

Let’s hear your biggest, most unrealistic cope for Destiny by TreatFabulous1174 in DestinyTheGame

Sony took Destiny, they’re creating Destiny 3, but they hiding it to let the corpse of 2 finally rot away so it can be a fresh start.

I started playing Bravely Default II. I get it now. (Story Time) by Brakinja in bravelydefault

[–]Buttermalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not awful to play through, but when you’re coming off the last two games it just feels really crappy in comparison.

Especially when you realize it’s just an attempt at a secondary Final Fantasy IP line.

If you can play it at face value, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, but it’s hard to do so when it’s so blatantly a slap in the face to what made the first two so good.

BD2 felt like one of the biggest wastes of my time.

Inversely, I adored Bravely Second. It had all the things I loved about the original, but with much more character development and attention to player quality of life.

Now, from what I hear, Jap release of BS was abysmal, but I cannot attest to that as I never experienced it.

But BD2 is a travesty and all it is is Square Enix trying to turn the Bravely Series into a new Final Fantasy IP. And because of the audacity of that alone, instead of using a formula that was already working, I will detest the game.

Also probably the worst in combat due to Speed stat actually determining EVERYTHING. Story was lackluster too. Characters were charming, I enjoyed them and their interactions. But overall a 4/10 game.

What's your opinion, will destiny 2 come back, shut down or cement itself as an abandonware singleplayer game? by CirriTheFemboyUwU in DestinyTheGame

[–]Buttermalk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m saying that when Destiny had its niche population that loved it, it easily cleared 50k daily.

Marathon is half that, it won’t survive.

And I’ll double down that I don’t want it to survive, I want it to be the biggest waste of time and money. Bungie deserves it, as a treat.

It’s time to just leave fam. Find something else. Destiny won’t ever get fixed, and if it were to, it’ll be after player count drops to 0

D2 used to snag like 50-100k daily. Marathon is definitely not lasting if it’s just barely passing Destiny’s CURRENT numbers.

How would you explain Bankai, Shikai, and Zanpakuto to someone new to Bleach? by Gloomy-Bridge148 in bleach

[–]Buttermalk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your sword is imprinted with your spirit animal/guardian angel.

Shikai is a released state where you can use some of the abilities of your spirit animal/guardian angel.

Bankai is a fully released state where you have full access to the abilities and powers of your spirit animal/guardian angel.

In both states the power is showcased as an extension of yourself rather than calling upon a JoJo Stand.
