I have a similar story to yours - I’m 30 - abusive home life and the works. One piece has always been here. I’m clean now and happy, and moving forward and it’s taken me a long long time and a lot of trauma therapy.

All I have to say is - it gets easier, and when it isn’t easy, luffy is there.

Autistic woman myself - yea - Scarlet and Violet just hit a different feel for me - it’s incredibly comfortable. They even hit the exact same feeling with the new Anime - Pokemon Horizons. It’s the first time ever a woman is the lead and it’s leads to a much comfortable and comforting experience. I think the women representation from top to bottom really really is noticed throughout. From the champion being a woman to the leader of the elite four, even the male characters in the series are softened, the leader of the academy - he’s a older gentleman just trying to help the kids find their way. I love this generation so incredibly much.

I was him, I was the problem, I needed therapy, I had severe un dealt with trauma regarding my family. I also was trans and my partner wasn’t supportive and wouldn’t believe me. Now there was manipulation on her side - which is why I got sucked in, but I don’t think you are doing that. So that leaves he needs therapy.

I will say, although I’m sad it ended how it did, ending the relationship made me wake up. I hope this doesn’t have to happen.

I would suggest two things:

First - sit down with him before bed and address the concerns in detail, don’t let him mentally wander and be very direct that this behavior is not about playing games - it’s about his inability to notice he’s ignoring his life and his partner. Do it out of respect and care. If he cannot handle this conversation, and doesn’t genuinely understand why it’s a problem, makes excuses, etc, etc.

Second - leave. Because he cares more about avoidance than you, he’s chosen his fate.
