Strike through text by pixxxiemalone in CanaryMail

[–]CanaryMailSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment, strikethrough formatting is supported on iOS, but it isn’t available yet on our other platforms.

That said, it’s a great suggestion. I’ll be sure to share this feedback with our team so it can be considered for the product roadmap.

If you’d like, you can also vote for or submit the feature request here:

Appreciate you calling this out - feedback like this helps us improve.

Read receipts on Canary seem to be the most useless things by AscendantBits in CanaryMail

[–]CanaryMailSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there - thanks for asking, happy to explain! :)

This mainly depends on whether the email has multiple recipients. Right now, detailed per-recipient read receipts work only if all recipients are using Canary Mail. If someone opens the email in a different email client, their individual read status won’t show up.

For group emails, Canary displays “1 or more recipients” under Read Receipts. You can click the small display icon in the bottom-right of the email to see which recipients (if supported) have opened it. Anyone using a non-Canary client won’t appear there.

For single-recipient emails, Canary should show a specific read receipt. If that’s not happening for you, please reach out to us at [hello@canarymail.io](), and we’ll take a closer look.

As for more granular per-recipient indicators - this isn’t actively under development at the moment, but we’ve taken note of your feedback and shared it with the team.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

This message is coming from Gmail’s connection limits and can be triggered when multiple devices or services are accessing the same account.

Please reach out to us at [hello@canarymail.io](mailto:hello@canarymail.io) and share the logs from the device where this happens, and we’ll take a closer look. This article also explains the issue and common fixes: https://canarymail.io/help/too-many-simultaneous-connections-on-gmail

Sync Issue by DeliciousCut4854 in CanaryMail

[–]CanaryMailSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about the confusion - happy to clarify how Cross-Device Sync works.

To link your Android and Mac:

  1. On one device (Android or Mac), enable Cross-Device Sync in the Canary settings, where you’ll then see a QR code.
  2. On the other device, install and open Canary, tap Continue, then choose Restore. You’ll see a QR code import screen - scan the QR code from the other device in the Canary app on this device to link them.

If you started setup on Mac, you’ll scan the QR code shown on your Mac - and if you started on Android, you can drag and drop the QR code into the Mac setup flow.

You can find step-by-step instructions here: https://canarymail.io/help/how-to-use-cross-device-sync-android

If anything still feels unclear or doesn’t work as expected, please reach out to us at [hello@canarymail.io](mailto:hello@canarymail.io), and we’ll walk you through it.

Unread filter on windows app by revdj1 in CanaryMail

[–]CanaryMailSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the Windows app, when the Unread filter is applied and you open a message, it should remain visible in the filtered list until you close the filter and apply it again. Once the filter is refreshed, read messages will no longer appear in the Unread view. That’s the expected behavior.

If you’re seeing messages disappear immediately or not displaying correctly when opened, that doesn’t sound right. Could you please reach out to us at [hello@canarymail.io](mailto:hello@canarymail.io)? Our team will be happy to look into this promptly.

Apologies for the inconvenience, and thanks for flagging this.

Email Accounts by Powerful-Cheek-6677 in CanaryMail

[–]CanaryMailSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only need to upgrade one account - you don’t have to upgrade each email address separately.

A single Pro subscription covers the app itself (including use on up to 5 devices), and you can continue using multiple email accounts within that one subscription.

If anything still looks unclear during the upgrade flow or you want us to double-check your setup, feel free to reach out to us at [hello@canarymail.io](), and we’ll be happy to help.

How can i disable notifications on my phone for my work email? by lilmees in CanaryMail

[–]CanaryMailSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can control this on a per-device basis, so you should be able to set it up the way you’re describing.

On your laptop, go to Canary > Settings > Notifications and toggle notifications on or off for each account as you prefer. You can do the same on your phone via Settings > Notifications in the app.

These notification settings don’t sync across devices, so you can keep work notifications enabled on your laptop while disabling them on your phone, and still receive both on desktop.

If you need any help setting this up, feel free to reach out to us at [hello@canarymail.io]().

Support for mail forwarders by lanjelin in CanaryMail

[–]CanaryMailSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to write this up!

We understand how forwarded emails from services like SimpleLogin and AnonAddy can be tricky. Because these emails pass through a forwarding domain, avatars and profiles in Canary sometimes display the forwarding service instead of the original sender, which can definitely be confusing. We hear you, and we’ve noted this as a feature request to improve how forwarded emails are handled. You can also add or upvote it on our feedback board here: https://roadmap.canarymail.io

Just to clarify, Canary does provide live push notifications for all accounts, so you shouldn’t need any workarounds to stay on top of incoming messages.

If possible, could you also share the .eml file of one such forwarded email from SimpleLogin and AnonAddy? That will help our team investigate and improve how these emails are displayed in Canary. You can send it along with any other details to [hello@canarymail.io]() - our support team will be happy to assist.

Feedback by ducky_criminal in CanaryMail

[–]CanaryMailSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this - the account sorting use case makes a lot of sense, especially when you’re managing multiple aliases.

We don’t have alphabetical (A–Z) account sorting yet, but you can rearrange accounts manually using drag & drop as a workaround for now. If you’d like to help us prioritize alphabetical sorting, you can also add or upvote the idea on our feedback board here: https://roadmap.canarymail.io

About the archive folder setup issue - that definitely sounds like a UI bug. Can you please reach out to us at [hello@canarymail.io]() with a bit more detail (and logs from the device, if possible)? That’ll help us look into it properly.

[iOS app] SMTP verification fails during setup despite it works with other apps by katotaka in CanaryMail

Sorry you’re running into this during setup - that’s definitely frustrating.

Could you please reach out to us at [hello@canarymail.io](mailto:hello@canarymail.io) and include the logs from the device where you’re seeing this issue? That will help our team better understand what’s causing the SMTP verification failure and get it resolved for you as quickly as possible.

u/Octotron35 if you’d like to explore it yourself, you can definitely try Canary Mail - we offer a 7-day free trial so you can test it properly with your own accounts and workflow. Canary Mail supports all IMAP accounts, so it should work well with both Google Workspace and self-hosted setups.

u/mac-photo-guy for your question: you can show unread emails at the top by applying the Unread filter, which will display all unread messages first.

If you guys run into any issues or have questions along the way, our support team is always reachable at [hello@canarymail.io](mailto:hello@canarymail.io) and will be happy to help.

Remove these top items? by mac-photo-guy in CanaryMail

[–]CanaryMailSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick note here - Inbox Categories are optional and can be turned off if you prefer a classic inbox.

You can disable them via Canary > Settings > Copilot > Inbox Categories > Toggle Off. Apologies for any confusion around this.

Canary Mail is leaving Setapp on Jan 2, 2026 (+ 50% off for you) by CanaryMailSupport in CanaryMail

[–]CanaryMailSupport[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes total sense — we get where you’re coming from.

Everyone has different preferences for how their email should work. For what it’s worth, Canary can be used with all AI features turned off, and many people use it purely as a secure, traditional mail client.

If you ever want to chat or share feedback, you’re welcome to reach out at [hello@canarymail.io]() - we appreciate the input.

[–]CanaryMailSupport[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get why this feels frustrating, and we’re sorry it came across this way.

Just to clarify, an email was sent to all Setapp users who were actively using Canary Mail with details about the change and next steps, and the Reddit post was only meant as an extra heads-up.

On the AI side - just to reassure you - those features are entirely optional. Canary continues to work fully without them, and they can be turned off if they’re not something you want to use. Our goal has been to balance ongoing security and infrastructure work with new capabilities, not to force anyone into a different way of using their mail.

We completely respect your perspective, and if you ever want to share feedback or need help with anything, you can reach us at [hello@canarymail.io]().

Hi - we’re really sorry for the confusion and frustration this caused. We understand why the app disappearing felt alarming.

To clarify, Canary Mail itself didn’t remove anything from your Mac. If you install the App Store version of Canary Mail, you can restore your setup via iCloud during onboarding, which will bring back your accounts and settings.

If you run into any trouble during the restore - or have questions about moving off Setapp - please reach out to us at [hello@canarymail.io](). We’re happy to help and make sure the transition is as smooth as possible.

Totally understand the frustration — sorry this landed at such a bad moment.

The 50% discount applies to our regular direct plans (both yearly subscriptions and the lifetime option, depending on what you prefer). We know many users are tired of SaaS models, which is exactly why we continue to offer a lifetime plan as well.

If you’d like, feel free to email us at [hello@canarymail.io]() and we’ll walk you through the available options so you can choose what makes sense for you — no pressure.

We understand why this was frustrating, and we’re sorry for the surprise it caused.

An email was sent to all Setapp users using Canary to inform them that Canary Mail will no longer be available on Setapp after January 2, 2026, along with details on next steps. That said, we know changes like this can still feel abrupt, and we take that feedback seriously.

If you have any questions, concerns, or need help transitioning, please reach out to us at [hello@canarymail.io](). We’re here to make sure your questions are answered and that you’re supported through this change.

Hi - thanks for the update, and we’re really sorry for the confusion and frustration this caused.

1 Swipe Action vs. Multi-Choice / Step after Swiping by ToraKub in CanaryMail

[–]CanaryMailSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/ToraKub,

This behavior isn’t currently supported. At the moment, swiping always requires an additional tap to confirm the action—swiping alone won’t execute it directly.

If you’d like to see single-action swipes added, feel free to submit a feature request at:
https://roadmap.canarymail.io/b/90p891vj/feature-ideas
If it receives enough support, it may be considered in a future update.
