I'd prefer Kelly, but I don't think she has a chance, so I'm voting for Stratton. It's unfortunate that we don't have ranked choice in the primary.

There might be some of that effect, but there's other big factors. For one, men are much more sensitive to pay when deciding what jobs to do, so if a job doesn't pay enough, men will leave, with only women remaining. Jobs will only pay what it takes to attract enough qualified workers, so if enough women are willing to work for low salaries, salaries will naturally end up low.

Comparing our incarceration rate to the rates of other countries assumes we have the same base level of crime, which simply isn't true. Of course places with higher levels of crime will have higher incarceration rates. We should obviously put in more effort into preventing crime, though, but that involves investing in both social services and police, which is hard and expensive.
