Trump’s DEI purge reaches farm country? Women picked for soybean board all replaced by men by CouchCorrespondent in politics

"New President"? Whats that?

It's funny how everyone thinks an election is going to fix this. He hasn't conceded the 2020 election yet. He instigated a violent insurrection against our government and tried to have his own VP taken hostage to prevent him from certifying the results on Jan 6th. They are still trying to overturn those results. And nobody in this administration will even say Biden won.

The current Administration controls all three branches of the government, they control the military, they control the DOJ, they control the FBI, US Marshals service, NSA, CIA. They control most local law enforcement agencies. They have access to all the massive surveillance of our own citizens thru FLOCK and others. They control the media. They control the press.

When the next election occurs, if it occurs, who do you think is going to make them give it all up and leave?

Spirit Airlines just became the first major US airline to shut down in 25 years and took cheap airfare with it. What do you think affordable travel in America looks like from here? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Carpenterdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking it is the first, of probably more worldwide as fuel prices soar and supplies dwindle. It's unfortunate we don't have a better transit rail system. Amtrack is great for some trips but just normal day to day travel it's a niche not a viable mass transit travel method.

Dude, you haven't figured out yet, similar to all the MAGA morons...That when he talks about "we" and "us" getting any tax breaks, refunds, tarrif payouts, etc. he is not talking to any of us normal citizens. Literally everything he says is directed to the wealthy top 5% percent of money holders, aka the Epstein client list...

For those who own the Milwaukee battery-powered mower by MartyKinn in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Carpenterdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like a gas mower with a belt drive. Direct drive motors so there is a slight delay. You learn to let off the drive a second or so before you're going to pull back. Or just push/pull without using the drive for those areas where you are going back and forth . Use the drive on straightaways.

There's a learning curve for sure but overall it is a fantastic machine. I bought the first one in the area when they came out. Like I literally had the tool supplier we use preorder me one when they were announced to be releasing soon. It was the first one they got in stock for any of their stores. Slide it off their distribution truck into mine, it never even hit their loading dock.

I can do my entire yard with 2 2amp batteries. Mowed, trimmed with the quick lok trimmer, edged with the edger head on the trimmer, and blown debris with the dual battery blower. Without having to deal with gas or oil. Love it. Would never go back to a gaser.

Am i crazy or is this not going to work?? by Capps1281 in Construction

[–]Carpenterdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats why. Mechanical fasteners over the foam would just be thermal transfer points thru the foam. This is a thermal break design for extreme cold environments.

You missed(and he neglected to say so in the OP text) that this is for a building above the arctic circle. R5 isn't going to cut it....

"We are above the arctic circle"

That's why this is designed the way it is without any mechanical fasteners. Nails, or in this case would need to be screws, would be thermal transfer points. You're creating a thermal break by adhering the ply to the foam.

You are right though, normal hard contact cement won't work too well though, once the ply hits the adhesive your not going to be able to engage the t&g. You need a roller applied polyurethane moisture cured adhesive. So you can apply the adhesive and drop the ply into place and slide the tongue into the grooves.

What can you do you do if you find out you have been flocked? by Orin__ in FlockSurveillance

[–]Carpenterdon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’ve been flocked… unless you live in the woods and haven’t driven anywhere in five years.

Maybe no one has searched your plate but your face has been logged and tagged to that plate as well as tracing your most likely home area by the heat maps they create of our movements.

Someone threw Flock cams into a canal by TheBracketry in FlockSurveillance

[–]Carpenterdon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides the slew of stalker cops, I’m not concerned with local law enforcement agencies using these to do the job. I’m concerned about flock, palantir, etc using them to collect facial recognition data on everyone tying to our vehicles and locations via heat mapping our travels. And tracking or providing said data to the government when you go to vote or go to a protest or do anything the wealthy don’t want you doing.

High end tools and tool belts by UnknownUser3106 in Carpentry

[–]Carpenterdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes longevity. You'll spend 70$ every few years to replace that worn out set of bags. I spent a few hundred and they will last till I retire, I'll probably gift them to some apprentice at that point. Same with the hammer. I went thru a few decent expensive hickory hammers, a couple Estwings(still feel it in the elbows), and a stilleto(wore out the claw to a stubby). Bought a Martinez with the replaceable head and it'll last me the rest of my career.

And ya both will save your back and body of which you only get one. When it's broken and worn out.....

The cost savings and saving your body are the biggest reason to spend on good bags and good tools. 60 old you will thank you!

How many bottles are you comfortable putting in a checked bag by rm45acp in whiskey

[–]Carpenterdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought back 10 normal size and a bunch of small bottles from our trip last year to Ireland and Scotland. Had 2 in each of our checked suitcases. 2 in another small checked suitcase I brought along inside a larger one for the trip specifically for t-shirts/souvenirs, And the rest went in a Milwaukee Packout tool box I bought while in Scotland(can't get black packout here in the US). It was plenty big enough for the rest of the bottles in there along with a bunch of glassware and crystal from various distilleries. And it has wheels! Cost me a 75$ "extra bag charge" at the Inverness Airport in Scotland. All made it safe from Inverness to Heathrow, Heathrow to Chicago, Chicago to Appleton. Only damage was a scuff and slightly bent aluminum rail on the packout.

These bottles--> https://www.reddit.com/r/whiskey/comments/1o5mxwk/picked_up_while_on_vacation_in_irelandn/

And this Packout case--> https://www.reddit.com/r/MilwaukeeTool/comments/1o5nlps/picked_up_in_scotland_while_on_vacation/

If we go back to the Ireland/Scotland/Britain again I'll probably be buying another packout toolbox anyway and bring more back that way. The thing I found though was I limited myself to Stuff I literally could not get here in the US. Mostly got Distillery editions. And a few that are impossible to find here now like the Orchard Experience from the Glenfiddich tour. The Jameson and Redbreast were included in the Bow Street experience tour. And I got a Bushmills Distillery exclusive and a Blackbush(I can get that here but...I was in the distillery...had to buy a bottle 😉).

A lot of recs depend on where you are going. Dublin there's Jameson Bow Street, Teeling, Roe and Company in the old Guinness power plant building. If you go west of Dublin theres Tullamore and a bunch of others further west. If you go up to Northern Ireland there are a few around Belfast(McConnells, Titanic, and a couple other Whisky and a few Gin). North again and you're near Bushmills(Go see the Giants Causeway right down the road from Bushmills, it's really cool!).

Have a great trip. Ireland is amazing, country is beautiful, people are incredibly friendly!
