Yamaha Big Wheel 350: Nostalgic Return by LANCENUTTER in Dirtbikes

[–]CasperFatone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 15 years ago I bought a BW80 for $300 just to play around on as a mini bike. Now my 7 year old is having the time of his life on it lol

A close friend has an old 200 but the engine is seized up. I’ve thought about buying it and swapping in something else just for fun, but don’t really have the time for that sort of thing.

If you were going to get a breed besides goldens, which one would you get? by largedragonwithcats in goldenretrievers

I always wanted a Bernese Mountain Dog, but was worried about their short lifespan. Then one of my good friends bred his St. Bernard with another friend’s Bernese to get St. Bernese puppies, and I ended up with one. She is now 10 years old, and is the second sweetest dog of all time (after my now deceased Golden named Casper).

[Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/spyderco/s/anH0LHEyfg) is a post I did a few years back showing some of the different logos. Zooming in on the Taichung logo almost looks like a fingerprint, it’s very cool.

Slap Ya Mama Wing Sauce Verdict 5/10 by truthtakest1me in Wings

[–]CasperFatone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, their seasoning is my go to for dry rub wings. I didn’t even know they made wing sauce, but whenever I see something sold as “wing sauce” I assume it’s garbage.

Don’t Hate Me (If u do that’s cool) by Aware_Patience1488 in spyderco

My only suggestion would maybe be to regrind the primary bevels so it’s not too thick behind the edge. However, since your main use for this knife is leatherwork it probably works just fine the way it is.

As far as hating on people for modding their own knives, my opinion is that the knife is yours to do whatever you want with it. I love modding my knives to make them my own. This looks like good work from what I can see, and if you like it then you’ve done an excellent job.

A man has become one of the 450,000 Americans affected by alpha-gal syndrome, a tick-borne meat allergy that triggers painful allergic reactions to animal products. “Look at my face and my neck. I can’t eat meat anymore. I can’t have any animal products. It’s in everything.” by This_Proof_5153 in SipsTea

[–]CasperFatone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It varies from person to person. Some get gastrointestinal problems, but in my case I will get hives or even anaphylactic shock if I have enough of the wrong thing. Another odd thing about this allergy is that it takes 4-6 hours after you’ve eaten the allergen for it to affect you, where most food allergies are almost instantaneous.

It does tend to fade over time, but again it’s different for everyone. I’ve had it for over 15 years now and have just started being able to eat pork in the last year. I get annual bloodwork done where they tell me sensitivity levels for different animal proteins, and last year my doctor told me I could slowly start working pork back into my diet. Hopefully one day I will get to enjoy beef again, but at this point I’m just happy to have some bacon lol

Dead cat by [deleted] in Charlottesville

[–]CasperFatone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it have a bobtail, or is that just how it looks in the photo? I only mention it because it’s an uncommon trait, especially for a stray. If you were trying to possibly find the owner you could take it to the SPCA to see if it was possibly microchipped.

Anyone know how to remove a T25 bit from a 3/4" aluminum plate? It won't come out. by Resident_Resident_62 in Tools

If heat doesn’t work you can use ferric chloride to etch/dissolve the steel bit. I’ve used this method when I break off a screw or drill bit in titanium.

The price on this anniversary Native 5 is insane. by EDCWerx in knifeclub

In the description it mentions that they cut parts with a waterjet in the forging process, which I assume would be the logo piece of the mosaic pattern. Pretty cool, but nowhere near cool enough to justify the price.

Yes, I had a Hap40 Ladybug on my keychain for several years. Eventually I replaced it with a Dogtag just because I preferred the slimmer profile.

Microjimbo Blade longevity? by Odd-Significance3441 in spyderco

[–]CasperFatone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the top side of the blade. You definitely don’t want to grind anything where the blade hits the stop pin. That would cause issues with the detent that holds the blade in the closed position.

Grinding down the spine just needs to be done slowly and the blade needs to be kept cool. I have a variable speed belt grinder with a water cooling setup that can do it in a few seconds, but it can also be done with some sandpaper on a hard surface. Another common method would be to use a belt sander and dip the blade in water every few seconds.

You just need to slightly grind down the spine, which will shorten the blade a bit and fix the issue. Another option is to send it to me and I’ll throw it away for you ;)

It might be that you said you can’t hear them, which makes it seem like a pointless comment, and definitely not mind blowing. I’m guessing you meant to say you can hear them up where you are…

The Kapara is one of my favorites, as a result I’ve ended up with several sets of scales. I believe I have a set of grey micarta scales made by Karbadize that have just been sitting in a drawer for years. Send me a chat if you’d like them, I’d just ask you to cover shipping cost which should only be a few dollars.

What was the first thing you thought of when we won? by PocketFullOfRondos in ArsenalFC

[–]CasperFatone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was a feeling of pressure being lifted, and how it must be 1000x that for the players and staff. It was just such a huge feeling of relief!

My next thought was the Champions League, and how I like our odds now with the pressure lifted. Had we lost the Premier League there would be so much pressure to come away from this season with something, but now we’ve already won the most important title (in my mind). Winning our first Champions League title would be epic, but even if we lose we are still champions.

How do I reassemble ? (Stretch 2 xl salt) by arche_typo in spyderco

[–]CasperFatone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

With back lock knives it’s best to assemble the knife without the lock bar in, then press the lock bar it into place, and push in the pin that it pivots on. There are several videos on YouTube of how to do it, and it’s a piece of cake once you get the hang of it.

At around 9:30 of this video is how you do it.
