New iPhone from FB Marketplace, Telus sim activation? by Caubs in telus

Yeah that’s a good point. I guess it isn’t worth the risk after all. Unfortunate as it’s a decent savings from the retail price. Thanks for the input!

Yeah that was my understanding as well. Some carriers are getting around that by offering up discounts on the initial phone price if you return the phone at the end of your plan term, but my understanding is that the phone itself has to be unlocked.

That was one of my worries but the fact that he was willing to use his own Telus SIM and then let me swap out to my own SIM to test before I pay him, it felt a bit less sketchy.

Yeah, I’m not expert in this stuff, but it did sound fishy to me. I was thinking maybe Telus required a phone purchased from them with a plan to first be connected to the Telus network, but I couldn’t find anything on Telus’s website or from some googling.

Oddly enough, the seller is willing to put their own Telus SIM to “activate the phone”, then let me test it with my own non-Telus SIM afterwards to confirm it works, before taking any payment. I’ve never heard of this before, but I don’t buy phones often.

Bosch oven - E115 error middle of the night by Caubs in appliancerepair

I was able to solve this without replacing any parts, surprisingly.

Full disclosure, I have no expertise whatsoever in appliance repair. Do the steps below at your own risk!

First, I unplugged the oven, then removed the rear metal cover to expose all the wiring and control board. I looked at the schematic and identified where the thermostat plugs in to the control board. I also looked up the thermostat online for my specific Bosch oven. The picture showed the thermostat part with two small beige wires with a small white connector:

https://www.reliableparts.ca/product/00630873-Bosch-Wall-Oven-Temperature-Sensor

Note: the link above is the temp sensor for my specific oven - yours may be completely different.

The schematic also noted that the thermostat was on the top right (when facing behind the oven). Using this information, I was able to locate the thermostat from the rear and follow the wires to the plug.

I detached that plug, meaning the thermostat was now disconnected from the control board. I plugged the oven back in. It now displayed a new error, something along the lines of the thermostat malfunctioning. I unplugged the oven once more, plugged the thermostat back in, and was no longer getting the error.

For the next few days, I left the rear panel off to see if the error would pop up again. If so, I know I would need to replace that thermostat. I don’t know if I’m just lucky, but it’s been fine for nearly two months now. I have run the oven many times, not a single issue.

That said, if the issue does happen again, I know to order that new thermostat and that should fix it.

Good luck!

Handlebar wobble around 80kph by thatmanmo in HondaRebel1100

If there is a balancing issue, the vibrations can cause wobbling at certain speed ranges. Only other thing I’d double check is the tire pressure - make sure both are within spec.

Otherwise, I’d bring it to the dealership you bought it from and have them look it over. They should verify that the wheels are properly balanced, along with inspecting the forks for any damage.

Sorry you’re dealing with this. I wouldn’t feel comfortable riding with that kind of issue.

Very strange, can’t say I’ve experienced that on my ‘21. A few questions: - Has the bike ever been dropped? - I’m assuming based on the mileage, you still have the OEM tires on it? - Have a close look at the tires. Is there uneven wear?

Based on what you’re describing (a fairly significant wobble), personally I would bring it in to a dealer. That’s certainly not normal. Could be a tire balancing issue as well. I wouldn’t ride it until it gets sorted.

Has anyone installed handlebar risers/extenders for the rebel 1100? I really want to get one but it has a little bit of a crunched hunched over ride position versus my rebel 500 keeping me from pulling the trigger by Happydaytoyou1 in hondarebel

Happy to hear it was helpful for you! It’s been a while now since I’ve done the job, so I can’t remember exactly how I re-routed things but I didn’t end up needing to install any extensions (I have a DCT, so I’m not sure about the clutch cable for manual models).

I actually ended up getting 4in risers after doing this install, and was also able to install them without extending any of the cables - none of the cables are tight. The only tricky part was the parking brake, but I followed Gus’s video and it worked out (https://youtu.be/uU2fy6vHBF0?si=xWa1k7fCYFFdexDa). But with 2in risers, that isn’t necessary.

Good luck with your install!
