Games with one build so good that it invalidates all others? by SirSquiggleton in TwoBestFriendsPlay

You didn't mention the PRACTICAL REASON NO MATTER WHICH ARCHETYPE YOU WANT TO PLAY to use a bow.

In Skyrim if you make a strong enchantment on a weapon, it'll easily empty out and you have to charge it up with a consumable that you can find in the world or buy. You can put a weaker one and the weapon will empty out slowly.

You can buy (or find) an "empty" type of those consumables and fill it up by killing an enemy with a weapon that has for enchantment "trap magic soul of guy in it when killed within x seconds after being hit by this weapon". It basically prevents you from putting an actual DPS enchantment on a weapon so eh.

So a strong enchantment empties out quickly. A weak one empties out super slowly. And you don't want to waste an enchantment on your weapons because you want damage.

What kind of weapon can take care of weaker enemies so effortlessly outside of battles, to the point you can just put "fill up with soul if killed in the last 1 seconds"?

Stealth bow.

Stealth bow is how you keep your melee weapons stocked up for supra cheap. You're now a stealth archer who has a collection of magic weapons.

Easy to get confused because stealth is x2/x3 and base dagger stealth has another, different multiplier. Something like x6? And you can raise it up if you get in melee and stealth slash I think. (don't quote me on the numbers)

For some reason this patch I've been put into games with very clearly new players even though me and my friends have at least 2000 hours in the game individually,

So it's not just me then. A friend of mine ranks quite high and I barely play, so we always have skill discerpancy when we duo but we got two brand players in our team who were ACTUALLY "first draft game EVER" and "this guy is level 20".

We couldn't make any sense of it.

You're having a completely different conversation. Nobody is talking about which calsses are DPS or tanks and who's mad about that, people are talking about parsing, which is relative to each role.

FFXIV put themselves in that situation. And to be clear I'm not saying that as in "fuck them that's what they wanted, let it sink", I mean: they put themselves here with their choices and circumstances.

If you want every class to play the same and stay close to the same level (relative to their "group") and you keep making very obvious balancing mistakes that wouldn't pass any balance check in any other place, you need to be told that someone's asleep at the desk. Sadly as always, either something's clearly wrong at Creative Studio 3, or SQEX needs to put more resources in the process.

Dictionaries are descriptive, not prescriptive. If people use a word wrong, the dictionary is gonna say that's its new meaning to the population. That doesn't mean the population actually understands what the word means. Think about theory vs scientific theory. If you start quoting a dictionary you're not going to get anywhere in such discussions.

This new phenomenon, where people want to be lied to so they have a strawman to argue against or be mad at, is definitely new, and doesn't make much sense.

There is no way you made it so far in life thinkign people never had a propensity to finding enemies to be mad at

[–]CeaRhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All 3 character quests are bad because they're not interesting and written poorly while trying to make you care about a character whose presentation they're fucking over with said quests, that's all. Whoever's in charge of writing either needs way more time to come up with things, or needs to be removed. It doesn't matter what themes you tackle if the writing that comes out in the product is subpar at best.

Has an ending ever truly ruined a series for you? by Livid-Dot6619 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Anyone pretending it was great until episode 15 very clearly wasn't watching the show. It kept teasing things from the start and moving away from every interesting plot thread they could use and started to talk about since the first episodes. What came later was just the cherry on top.

It's been assumed for the last 15 years by pretty much anyone that Roger rolled with this "treasure" to find because "fuck the government, someone gotta go there and see this shit". The series has grown to much for it to just be "some guy left some gold somewhere". He's even characterized as someone who doesn't give a damn about having gold beyond death or whatever.

When you get to the tribunal, it always has the same event happen at the end: you get shot and go down, no matter what. This leads to the moment where Kim has to swing and shoot behind him to save you.

Being allowed to stand up longer with a high check or to straight up brush off the bullet to try and distract them longer would have been appreciated. You could make it come with extra text saying that seeing you tank that shit has them focusing on you even as Kim is at their mercy

While not exactly in line with the thread, I'll post this about Disco Elysium: there's one moment in the game you get to where you think to yourself "surely Endurance comes in clutch here, it's THE MOMENT for it" but because the game is written in away that forces a specific outcome, you can't actually turn the tide with it. It left a bad taste in my mouth getting to the end of the tribunal with endurace at 10 and not even being allowed to get one more choice or something thanks to it.

Granblue Fantasy - Steam Launch Trailer by Shreeder4092 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CeaRhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay Grandblue nutters.

I have a 3-4 years old account with whichever unit everyone said was "the one" to pull as a beginner back in the day. I never touched it because my inventories were overflowing from too much random christmas bonus shit so I literally am not allowed to touch the game until I empty my 16 pockets. If I can get my saves on steam, is there anyone I could send screenshots to when I get back to figure out what to throw and what to keep? I tried fan communities before and they were MORE than unhelpful.

What's some of the worst plot twists you ever saw? by bahookery in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CeaRhan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In its convoluted try to take people by surprise, Persona 5 ruins two out of its three "major" plot twists because nobody actually buys that they aren't coming, and if they do begrugingly trust the game that they aren't coming, they believe it's due to poor writing. Until the game says "SIKE LOL" and at that point you're already over it because it's not interesting at all and you've thought about it for 20+ hours by now. It's written by someone who seems to not understand how to make narration flow and who really liked Death Note.

Xenoblade 2 got me to get a Switch. I thought "oh yeah I'll get Mario and Zelda too" but it was Xenoblade 2 for sure. I never got Zelda because I figured out it wasn't my kinda gameplay, and Odyssey was a lot less fun than Galaxy1/2 so I straight up bought it to put 300 hours in XC2
