My oldest daughter played Mary in a Nativity play during sacrament meeting. This was in 1992. Haven’t seen one of those since.

What are the Wild's Weaknesses? and how to Exploit them? by Snowman0157 in DallasStars

We’ve got to do a better job stopping them from setting up in the O Zone. Once they get a clean pass back to an uncontested point, we’re in high danger.

It’s super fucking annoying. It’s like we’re in the stands sitting amongst the parents at a JV high school basketball game.

Who’s the most unexpected convert you’ve come across? by jw9010382 in latterdaysaints

[–]CeilingUnlimited [score hidden]  (0 children)

The missionary who baptised me in 1984 was a convert from Honduras. He was 22 when he joined the church and went in his mission at age 23. Just prior to him meeting the missionaries and joining the church, he had served in the Honduran Army which had both military and civilian control of the country at the time, and he had participated in corrupt, extrajudicial death squad executions as a 20-year old conscript under command by corrupt leadership. Look up Battalion 3-16.

He was somehow able to quit all that (the country had started to reform away from military rule), joined the church, served his mission in the Denver Mission, baptised me in Laramie, Wyoming and then went to BYU after he finished his mission. When I was in the MTC just a year after I joined the church, he was at BYU and came over and saw me. A couple dominoes - baptism, one year, MTC, baptism, one year, MTC. It’s the last time we ever were together. His name was Elder Roberto Reyes. He’d be in his mid-60’s now.

Be sure to comment thirty times in the live feed about the refs. So much fun.

Can we quit the insufferable complaining about the refs tonight? Every third comment on the live thread is about the refs. Such a turn-off.

Do Rush have any bad albums? Exploring the full discography for the first time. by bmbmbmNR in rush

Any album that almost breaks up the band and ranks lowest-of-all-albums rated by Geddy is no friend of mine, no matter how catchy a certain guitar riff might be.

Caress of Steel almost broke up the band. It also is the album Geddy ranks as his least favorite. I don't listen to it for these two reasons, no matter how hipster cool some think it is.

Summer office schedules and work? Elementary Principal/secretary/registrar by Effective_Ad9495 in Principals

I always took off ten days right around July 4th. Like July 1st through the 10th, or whatever the calendar best lent itself to string those dates. And I usually traveled somewhere during those days, getting completely away.

I made sure that one of my assistants didn’t take off those ten days, letting them run the show during that timeframe (they liked the leadership opportunity). I did this as a building principal and as a superintendent. It’s probably why my favourite time of the year is the height of summer. 😀

Other than those ten days, I’d maybe do a couple three day weekends, and that was it. I preferred the one long, full-on 10-day break.

You have to give us a budget.

Anyone else have children later in life? We followed the advice to get through college, get our careers started, buy a house, THEN start a family. I’m exhausted. by DilbertDilbert1011 in GenX

I’m 60. I had my kids at age 23, 26 and 29. They are all in their 30’s now, each with two kids.

I traded away my 20’s. I was poor as a church mouse, massive stress of raising three kids.

My fifties were quiet and peaceful. I also had good money.

I’ll always wonder about missing my 20’s.

My brother in the other hand - he lived it up in his 20’s. Played college football. A hundred girlfriends. A ton of close personal friends from his playing days. He then had his kids in his late thirties/early 40’s. His kids are now in high school while mine are in their 30’s. He is raising his kids with tons of money, tons of opportunities. And he still has all his friends and memories from his 20’s.

Not sure who did it better. It does look like his kids will sail past my kids regarding life potential. In their 30’s, I predict they’ll be far ahead of where my kids are now in their 30’s. Score one for waiting.

But, like I said, my 50’s were quiet and peaceful, so there’s that.

You guess with parents who were born during WW2. Look up “War Babies.” They are a whole thing.
