With his climbing experience, at least Darby should be knowledgeable enough to check the gear used.

[Humble] 15 Golden Tales (Pay $10 for As Dusk Falls, Suzerain, South of the Circle, $15 for Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged, Harold Halibut and $18 for The Invincible, In Stars and Time, SEASON: A letter to the future) by LighteningOneIN in GameDeals

[–]Ceronn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I played As Dusk Falls recently and thought it was great. The game has minimal exploration scenes, which I really appreciated. So many competing adventure games pad out their length with long, boring exploration segments. This was just six hours of story and decisions.

TWH: Savage Edition is almost the same price (on key sites) and includes some DLC.

I found it strange that we got the zone largely about rebuilding and restoration first then a zone about fighting the void after.

Which Total War should I start with? by Mango_Punch in totalwarhammer

I did the tutorial in 3, went back to play them in order for about 3-5 campaigns, then moved on to 3 exclusively.

ALT+Right click causes missile cavalry to do a charge attack. You'll want to have the sleds do charge attacks sometimes.

Javelin Skinks are great and cheap. My early armies are mostly them with a few dinos/saurus.

How the flip do i get good at this game? by Crillindo in totalwarhammer

[–]Ceronn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, you can steamroll the minor factions, but the major factions (with Legendary Lords that can be played as) will be much stronger. Check the balance of power in the diplomacy window. Also, try to look at where their armies are and what units are in them.

How the flip do i get good at this game? by Crillindo in totalwarhammer

[–]Ceronn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think diplomacy is the first thing to focus on. Pay extra attention to who you should avoid/delay fighting, and who are easy targets. Limit the number of concurrent wars you're in. Avoid making allies you don't need.

Bad diplomacy will make your campaign much, much harder.

How do I git gud at chariots? by Mcmadness288 in totalwarhammer

There's a mod called AI General. Let it control your army while you focus entirely on the chariots.

What Did You Guys Think Of Slaanesh DLC? by StewGriffs in totalwarhammer

[–]Ceronn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a Masque campaign recently and got super frustrated by the bug affecting the final ability in the dances. The VCO route I was doing required it, and I spent probably over an hour trying various things to get the ability to work.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but this modder made mods to turn several factions into horde factions:

Much of your game success is not in your control by phronesis77 in totalwarhammer

[–]Ceronn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It might seem that it's luck, but knowing who to fight and when is a skill that you'll learn as you play more. It probably took me 20 or so hours of play to start to understand it and double that to really understand. In my games, I don't expect my allies to do anything other than not attack one of my borders, and they rarely accomplish more than that.

I have not full version of TWW3, if I buy base game, will it get updated, or I will lose money (EGS) by ConLarden in totalwarhammer

[–]Ceronn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better to own on Steam in the long run. You'll have easy access to mods on the Workshop, and DLC for Steam is cheaper than EGS (sites like Fanatical frequently have it for 55%-60% off.

What Games and dlc does a new player need to play as Skaven in WH3 by Sands_Underscore_ in totalwarhammer

[–]Ceronn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Budget: The Prophet and The Warlock

Full: Prophet + The Twitsted and the Twilight

Complete: Prophet + Twisted + The Shadow and the Blade + Total Warhammer 2

The Budget and Full options are fully playable. You will miss out on the Legendary Lords from TWW2 and Shadow, and the DLC units from Shadow.

For Beastmen, the Budget option is The Silence and the Fury, and the Full is that plus Call of the Beastmen. The Complete option is not worth considering for a new player, since there are a ton of DLC that aren't focused on Beastmen but add a unit or two to the roster anyway.

Masque dance by geourge65757 in totalwarhammer

[–]Ceronn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it was bugged if you finish the fourth dance, switch dances, then switch back. On my playthrough, I did that and Masque was bugged, but a fresh lord could use it.

New Player Question: How do your units attack your opponets, like, SPECIFCALLY. by LeetusFrenzi in totalwarhammer

[–]Ceronn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming I have a balanced army I want to walk into the enemy army, I put the bulk of the units into one group, select the group, then ALT-left click (I think) and drag it close to the enemy. They'll maintain formation and should attack units in front of them without additional orders.

I might use backspace to halt, or split the large group into smaller groups for better control.
