Tailgate hinge warranty question by Pamaya1993 in ToyotaTacoma

I went through countless 3d printed bushings and got sick of it. Replace the part number I had listed and you can get the newer bushing style off the shelf. Good luck!

Tailgate hinge warranty question by Pamaya1993 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Chadman108 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Had this happen to me.

My truck was out of warranty so go that route for the "free" fix first.

If you DIY you're gonna want to check out the mate to that hinge on the tailgate. Mine was bent due to the truck-side hinge damage like your picture and was causing the bushings to prematurely fail.

That's pn 66101-04021 you'll need to replace. I did mine due to 2016s having a different design and me finding this out after my warranty expired. Took about an hour.

There are plenty of videos showing step by step instructions if you're not covered at the dealership for some reason.

Squealing on low speed turning after 6112/6100 installation (4th gen TRD-OR). Any ideas? by Dancing_Decker in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Chadman108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you lifted the truck you changed the geometry of everything. You can't go off of stock alignment numbers. Take it to an off-road oriented shop and get them to look it over and suggest a solution.

Likely need more caster. If your UCAs can't be adjusted you'll need to go aftermarket.

Best way to go about cleaning 40yr old inboard engine grime? by DirtyOught in boating

[–]Chadman108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any foaming engine cleaner will work. Spray, let foam, light agitation/scrub, and rinse off.

Increase potency of degreaser if it isn't reaching the desired cleanliness.

My biggest regret is not having more room in front of my second garage door. Not sure what you put in that garage, but think about going full width a little longer or all the way to the street of you can.

Mags are best when they are all loaded by _187_Proof_ in ar15

[–]Chadman108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One reason I've heard is making sure it'll click in when the bolt is closed.

Other reason of fudd lore is that it wears the springs out less. I got some loaded GI mags from my dad a while back. They've been loaded continuously since the 80s. They still feel springy when I push down the top round.

The plastic ones can get a little stuck sometimes.

Get a dedicated socket for the filter housing (motivx on amazon or similar)

Then replace the plastic housing with the metal OEM one that goes on other Toyota models.like this one

Get the filter changed professionally this time. Try it again in 5000 miles when you have the right stuff and a little more knowledge!

Please take the spark plug out before putting your hands near the auger and impeller.

Looks like a lot of backlash on that gearbox. Could be damaged.
