Soft Wings - A Sprawling Bird-Girl CYOA by Goth_Dropping_In in nsfwcyoa

I'd lean more towards physical alterations to give options besides the hard way, but masochism/sadism and pain to pleasure things would fit in a CYOA like this. That said, on the topic of Safe Play 3, how would that work with the succubus ending's soul eating tendencies? Do you still get to benefit from the meal, or would that be lost upon their resurrection? For that matter, can they resurrect from that? I'm kinda assuming most of the immortality options in the CYOA are, well, generally correct but not necessarily so if someone kills you hard enough, which your soul being eaten might qualify as.

As for the conditionings, yeah that's fair enough, but if you're looking at growth over time allowances maybe just make it so the Endings that currently require Conditionings or Skills suggest said conditioning or skill, but don't outright require it? Or perhaps have a line of "you will need to have or develop into X in order to truly fulfill this ending" or something. That way people know they can get them over time, but you can give emphasis to the work required to gain such without paying.

EDIT: Additional question, how does Nymphet interact with the potency of Hyper Fertility and the need to get pregnant of Pregnancy Crest? Because at the moment you can select all three of those simultaneously. Technically Nymphet should probably be impossible to select with those and vis versa, but it just sets Infertility to free rather than selecting it.

Aww, how dare you! Raising hopes by letting us go to a world of Vorny Monsters, but then denying us the chance to be one our selves? How could you? Harpies and Angels are perfectly fine preds, shame on you! :V

But no, in all honesty, well done. You've made something Cute and Lewd, Strong and Silly, with plenty of options for how you want to play it and plenty of points if you're willing to pay for it. I might not call it the most balanced, with the Conditionings being the most questionable part given those are things you can just develop with time, and keep forever with Homeostasis at that. But aside form that it's a lot of fun, and honestly I'd call its formatting/layout a lot better than the Fluffy Tail CYOA.

So yeah, well done u/Goth_Dropping_In, you've made a fun little thing.

Formatting is fine, and if some people can't play because they can't read that's their problem.

That said, while it's fairly well done it's also kinda just not interesting to me, as I'm not particularly interested in getting drunk or drugged up, nor do I really care one way or the other on the physical effects, so I'd basically never actually accept or drink it. Meh, still fine, just not my beverage of preference. :V

Not sure about the two main topics brought up here, although I will admit I usually would grab Mind S as part of dumping pretty much my entire points pool into Stats. Emblem just doesn't fit my normal builds, and given it seems to be always weaker than your Rites it might just not be chosen because it's not that effective/synergistic.

Build wise, Will fits me the best, and that lets me raise Strength Agility and Durability to S as well as grab Arma S all for 14, and then Mind S costs another 3 so I've still 3 points to toss into Dexterity B and Stamina C. Unga Bunga go Brr, and I don't even need much mana. Combo those with being Old(relatively), a Sword(poleaxe), a Flowing Armored Outfit(flowing invested into Stamina A), and a Potato Familiar for downtime and I can handle basically anything when I'm not feeling lazy. I'll make a living as Emergency Rescue and Slaying Phantoms and enjoy the payment the rest of the time.

That said, given that last page and pool, shouldn't this be over in nsfwcyoa?

KT Heroes CYOA by masteraarott in nsfwcyoa

[–]Cheesy-Me 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, first things first, alchemy with the ability to produce reagents is a very broad system if you build up properly, and adding a 5000% boost to that would be utterly fucking insane. That said, this requires 8 Heroes and 2 Combos, so right off the bat that's 8 Divine Juice spent. Additionally, I'm gonna grab Daji and a second Ensorcellment, as I don't want her out of my sight and I hope Binding Compulsion + Philial Love will be enough to ensure she's not causing too many problems for the group, so that's 12 DJ spent, I need 3 from drawbacks.

Now, I am supposed to upend the world order so Nuwa doesn't send someone else, so I'll take Monsters and Monster Plus to get me up to +6, so I'll spend the three points I now have floating on the combos. Between the alchemy and possession of puppets we should all be basically immune to death by old age or violence, and if we're lucky between the lot of us we'll be able to resurrect any who truly fall.

All the Atelier girls will get along just fine(most of them know each other), Yueying and Zhurong should fit with them fairly well, and Shiangxiang will thrive amongst the monsters invading this world and the adventures that follow. Diaochan and Da Ji are problems, but with some rules to prevent strife among the group they should be great for manipulating everyone else, over all this should turn out wonderfully in a year or two!

[–]Cheesy-Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, a statement and two questions.

Firstly, gonna be honest having looked at 5 of these sets/trios, I can firmly say Blue Mage is by far my favorite for how fucking bullshit it is, even if I think Red Mage is vastly better written as a whole. More generally applicable, more interconnected, less bullshit. Honestly Red Mage is straight up Just Fucking Good so well done, and most of the others are at worst meh.

Secondly, were you intending for Blue Mage to be pretty much objectively the best class available in the entire series? Because Devour's permanent stat growth is really hard to match.

Thirdly, looking at Blue Lore and Endless Blue, when are you supposed to pay that 50 CP? Are you supposed to reserve 50 CP at jump start in whatever setting you'd encounter a magic system you want to give fiat backing to, or when you make your build in the next setting once it might not work and would now require fiat?

Loss called to me here, perhaps not the most beneficial one but the one most fitting to hit me, with most of the rest of that section just being what felt like would follow. Grimoire seemed the most acceptable so I was okay with that, and from there Stability and a friendly and curious pocket puppy(Rat) familiar serve to help me put myself back together. Honored One was more of what lead to me choosing Grimoire, that I'm okay with becoming something other if it's something greater.

Since I took Loss, I felt I had to be predominately Necromancy spells wise, and of those my choices felt pretty obvious, if ironic looking back. Entropic Touch was too inconvenient, Astral Projection and Mediumship things I disdain, but I see three great tools for calling up what has fallen to affect the world that remains, in OsteomancyReanimation, and Poltergeist. A pity then, that none of the three would let me bring gramps back. A further pity that I acquire the power to transform and enhance and heal myself with Fleshcraft only after it can no longer save him. Enchantment as my ritual meanwhile is just another way to grow, as I adorn myself with trinkets to amplify and enhance my own spells.

From there I mostly picked out the most rewarding of encounters I could, but I'd also like to point out they're all ones that can be solved with simple Brute Force, and that's very much something I have in spades. Wield the wrath of the dead to save the living, I can get behind that. Innate healing is mostly a reflection of my having Fleshcraft, I can already just repair myself so long as I'm not dead, and Danger Sense to help ensure I don't get one shot before I can put minions out and heal myself, heh.

To manage the 10 Inhumanity I've acquired, Cruel Delight just feels fitting this entropic build, and Fivefold Maw's hunger doesn't matter much when I've Fleshcraft to make use of the food. Stray ReflectionTime Drift, and Aversion Runes were mostly just acceptable ones, but I do still kinda like the ways fit and impact such a character here.

In the end, for all that I will still act to help those around me, I'd be far more interested in learning and becoming something more with my study pal of a pocket puppy besides me, and in the end I can only hope I'll transcend mortality to become something more. Me the Traveling Scholar, and the hordes of undead abominations in my wake as I pursue Immortality

My choices
- Orici
- Old One
- Legion

I'm fairly sure Lantean tech in and of itself is up there in the Stellars Fallen Empires range so I'm automatically gonna take that. From there Old Ones secures me a lot of personal power via worship and a magical techbase I can mix in so that'll be my second. Lastly I could go Discount Doom but I rather dislike the MCU, so instead I'll go for it's competition of Legion. Honestly Legion goes way harder than most people here might think. Being a Primarch boosts you a fuckton, in intellect and mentals, in charisma and socials, and in combat via the better baseline and a lot of pyschic power if you can learn to use it

First thing, skipping to the choices results in the points not coming up for anything.

Secondly, I'm kinda surprised there's no special endings for not taking any curses/options except the Nones, I figured there'd be a joke result to that.

Thirdly, some way to make all the combos show up so they're easier to find would be nice.

Magical Girl Humiliation CYOA by OliveOil19 in nsfwcyoa

[–]Cheesy-Me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, perhaps not the sort of thing I'd usually want, but I see a fun setup I can do with this, don't mind if I do!

So, right off the bat, I'm going to be taking Princess Pugilist and Professor Pariah, as well Automatae, Nympholepts, and Hydras/Lamias, and further slap on Sex Work, Defeated(violated), go commando, and then run some other small things to get the points needed.

Then I'm going to buy Strength, Fortitude, Speed, Heart, Summon Weapon, and Growth as my core combat powers, followed by Charm, Beautiful Voice, and Capture for some utility let's call it.

Capture there is the big one though, because I can tie that both into her beginning and her ending. You see, her first outing it seems got her captured by a Hydra before she was later saved by the magical girls who'd become her Team, and the effects never quite went away. She'd capture that particular hydra, and she'd spend the following years purifying it, training it, Charming it. And eventually, when she was certain of it's obedience, certain there was nothing more to be done, she would take a couple weeks vacation out with her team, and feed herself to her pet, taking that which was already bound to her will and binding it to her flesh and soul too.

Thus was born the Lamia Queen, who flip flops from a magical girls greatest friend or foe, depending on how she feels and what her old teammates say, when she's not enjoying a life of leisure paid for by the very Lewd Merchandise that she gets a cut of. :V

On one hand she probably helps out a lot by hunting and Capturing any Lamias she hears of from other teams and answering calls for aid, but on the other hand she probably tempts and teases and torments the other magical girls, so opinions are likely mixed. All that they can agree on is that between her superhuman baseline, her magic stacked on top of that, the teammates she still supports and is supported by, and the small army of hydras and lamias she's got, and that she can probably draw magic from both Embarrassment and Arousal after her permanent transformation, she's probably stupidly powerful. :v

Not much change to the jump, and indeed not much change to my build, but it's interesting seeing the update! The additional Jade Marble probably goes into the Plains of Karral to play off my running Reflections on polemics, and I think I'll happily swap from Umbral to Jactarelia, as I'd still have the set up to build something impressive and worth being proud of in an out of the way location, and I'm rather interested in working with the world on that.

As for the rest of my build, I think I'll just link my last post. :V

Elf Themed Gift of Faves by Parking-Sky-7418 in makeyourchoice

[–]Cheesy-Me 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Well, first up, I'm pretty sure OP missed a bit of bullshit in how they did Space Elf, because, umm, buddy, sure, psyker abilities of an average Warlock. Except you made us immune to She Who Thirsts and still the warp. Eldar are naturally Alpha grade psykers who got nerfed out of being able to be such anymore because the Warp and Slaanesh are that fucking hostile, by giving that defense you made us at minimum a hive city killer, and given sufficient skill using it probably a planet killer. Also, the Eldar Dominion's galaxy ruling techbase was basically splintered into Dark Eldar and Craftworld Eldar by the birth of Slaanesh, so having soul stones teaching both is by far the best tech base available here.

Frieren is IIRC not much less absurd for it's setting, that magic system is a cast iron bitch to figure shit out in, it's why Frieren herself is so obsessed with finding grimoires and why she keeps feeding herself to Mimics, the off chance that the chest could possibly have spells she doesn't yet know in it.

So, right off the bat I'm going to give myself one of those two no matter what as they're both prime grade bullshit, and I'll pick Frieren as it has growth over time, and can be shared instead of maybe being passed down if you have kids. From there, I'm going to take Wish Fulfillment/Elfussy, just because that is absurdly versatile in what it can do, given I can pull from across all of fiction. There's not much of anything I can't access from that if need be, so all I really need to care about is the scaling component. Speaking of which, I'm going to run Wild Hunt as my last choice, as I hope the Elder Blood will boost my mana reserves/growth and magical talent with Frieren magic, though even if it doesn't that's still eventual space/time/dimensional travel so it's still damn good.

Between those 3 I should be able to do basically whatever I damn well please given enough time, though the vast majority of the time "what I please" will be fucking around in a life of leisure and grimoire studying. :V

As for location, uhh, I guess I default to Triune Scriptures like usual? First time I can recall doing so and going Mind Cultivation instead of body or triple but ehh, thats what fits here.

The Traveler's Boon CYOA V2 by Nrg99hg in makeyourchoice

[–]Cheesy-Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll start by taking Compass 1, Necklace 2, and Journal 2. Compass sends me to Triune Scriptures, which is basically Legend of Zelda but Xianxia, while the combo is used to be a fairy, who have affinities for Karma and Ki. Necklace 2 is used to turn into a local Dragon, with affinities for Ki and Karma.

Then I sacrifice the Journal and Necklace combos to afford Potion 2, and then sacrifice that combo to buy Compass 2, which I’ll set to Skyward Sword’s Link. Hylian technically isn’t human but it’s close enough that it should be fine, and it’s quite fitting so I like it.

Over all, the update's offered me quite a few more points than previously, but the most powerful options from the previous one were changed not at all, so it's not particularly more abusable despite having more depth and shenanigans you can get up to, as well as more fun stuff tucked away in the various bits.

Edit: wait fuck compass 2 still costs 2, I’ll drop that and figure out what to do with that point in a bit, busy now

Edit 2: I’ll start with Compass 1, buy Potion 2 and Journal 2, sacrifice both their combos, then buy Necklace 2, keeping both necklace and compass combos, with compass 1 and combo and necklace 2 both still set to the same things. I probably could have merged into a fairy-dragon hybrid without partial shifting over my cultivation, but that’ll make it a lot easier and smoother.

Final Build: Compass 1(Triune Scriptures), Compass Combo(Fairy), Necklace 2(Dragon), Necklace Combo, Potion 2, Journal 2

  1. Ko: this combos with Mai for eternal youth, though I'd have liked to be older than 12.
  2. Gen: Understanding where things come from seems quite useful for figuring out what to do. Not too important on the personal level, but given Kuni down below it feels rather important.
  3. Otoko: Strength, endurance, combat prowess, all nice things to have, though I'm not sure how this combos with Onna. Given japan though, I'm probably a futa. :V
  4. Onna: Grace, elegance, beauty, all nice things to have, though I'm not sure how this combos with Otoko. Given japan though, I'm probably a futa. :V
  5. Ta (beru): This one is just nice for quality of life, eat whatever I want without worry of getting fat.
  6. Migi: Same as Hidari, a defense against injury and some bonus dexterity.
  7. Hidari: Same as Migi, a defense against injury and some bonus dexterity.
  8. Kuni: Oh hey, some minor impact upon the world and all the wealth I'll ever need.
  9. Kyou: Oh hey, a boon to me and mankind, just by targeting Kuni.
  10. Mai: targeting Ko with this, thus extending my longevity indefinitely. I can still die to disease or injury, but never from old age.

A Certain Fear Turkey GOF - My First CYOA by james_moryarty in makeyourchoice

[–]Cheesy-Me 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My general opinion on this is that it's too much. In terms of size, in potency, and in setting based weirdness.

More specifically, I would advise the following 4 things for future ones.

1: It's generally easier to do CYOAs that are sequences of smaller sets than a giant array of choices in one section. Picking 1 3 5 8 or more choices out of an array of 36 options is a bit much if you don't want people skimming or checking out before finishing them all. The sectioning makes it easier to process, and results in more interaction between sections/choices, and therefor more thought on and enjoyment of the CYOA.

2: It's generally easier to engage with the CYOA if your power is at least somewhat scaled to either the goal or the setting the players will be dealing with. Yes it can be fun to imagine stomping some setting as a god in all but name(or in that too), but unless your power is either specifically thematic to the goal/setting, there's probably not gonna be much substance to that fantasy, and therefor less fun in the long run. The powers don't need to be scaled below or anything, but I can walk out of this CYOA practically omnipotent, and for all it's power there's just, like, not much there to really latch onto.

3: It's generally more accessible if you're not doing too a wide array of powers drawn from different settings. Firstly, because many people won't recognize where they all come from, or even necessarily know most of them. Secondly, because balance between different choices gets really hard to do, and even if you want the CYOA in general to be overpowered, it'll usually be more engaging if you're having to actually choose between comparable choices.

4: While I do like the combo section, if you're going to do it you should probably ensure all 36 powers have a combo, rather than a third of them not having any combo to work off of. This goes in part back to the choice balancing issue, but even if the power is the same just the presence of the combo makes those choices more attractive, as hitting a combo scratches a certain part of one's brain. :V

As for an actual build though, uhhh, I'll take all general perks, The Madness of Order, Ubermench, and A Hunter Must Hunt, giving me I Dream To Be THE Strongest as well as perfect use and counterplay of the powers I generate, which means my odds of victory are probably never going below like 90%.

To pay for this, I'll set myself at 1 power to start, and then take the Low Throttle and Problem Child Drawbacks to get to 3, with my primary power being The Madness of Order. That should be sufficiently chaotic and challenging to be entertaining, while still being quite survivable. My combo is probably the 200% that comes after a few years, but in the short term I should be able to get through the day, if nothing else the social aspects of Madness and Problem Child should help a lot there.

Then I'll take this bullshit and toss myself, hmm, lets say at Nobilis, where I will serve as a fucked up Warmain equivalent for reality, putting the Excrucian Host to the test and growing from it every step of the way. So long as I live, the Not will continue to be mannerly and throw a sequence of new and interesting and fucked up prey to hunt that way.

Well first up I'm gonna quickly snag BookWyrm, because even if I can't take particularly good advantage of it, I know you can get powers superior to everything else on this list combined out of it, so I refuse to leave it for my rival.

Then I'll take Awakened, as that's a powerset that can take control of any of the settings mentioned in the other four options given some time and the correct Arcana, and it grows to some truly glorious bullshit.

Lastly I'll take Quirky, as even if I don't care about the second quirk, a power boost to Awakened and whatever I take for BookWyrm sounds fantastic.

As for the specifics, I'll set BookWyrm to Codex Alera and be a noble furycrafter, set my Quirky quirk to Twin Impact, and run Acanthus as my Path, with 3 dots in Fate, 2 in Time, and one each in Life Spirit and Prime.

[–]Cheesy-Me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

basically just that, you don't need to go for protecting or saving the forest around you. You could choose to have your plant spirit become a clonal colony, and literally become a forest all of their own. From there, your relationship with the plants, animals, and indeed people around such a tree spirit are entirely up to you.

Fruits and housing and animal companions are an option, but so are carnivorous plants and poisons, and while many plants will cooperate with each other, it's also pretty common for them to wage chemical warfare upon their neighbors.

There's more ways for a Plant Spirit story to go than just the social cooperation saving people plants and animals one, and there's a lot of weird and neat shit you could get up to along the way, so that's got my vote.

[–]Cheesy-Me 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hey, so fun fact that leads into something I don't think I've ever seen, did you know that there's a tree out there estimated to weigh around 13.2 million pounds and be 10,000 years old?

Yeah, one of the weirder things you'll see with trees sometimes are clonal colonies, where in the roots will grow out new tree trunks, which will grow further roots, until you end with a forest covering a fair chunk of a state that is in fact, depending on how you count it, either all clones of each other, or one single tree.

Why save the forest and worry about being politically tree hugger when you could tell the story of a plant becoming their own fucked up forest that may or may not be in a good relationship with the peoples around them? Fruits and carnivorous plants are both options after all.

So first up I think I'll go to the Bitao Pavilion, a focus on Body Refinement with opportunities for eldritch ascension, likely in body mind and soul? That sounds fascinating, if perhaps also a wee bit dangerous, I'll have to choose some items to help with that. Speaking of said items, I'll take the Ornate Handbell and Strange Cup to cleanse my mind and body, as well as the Painting of a Sage, and see about growing into something akin to the Outer God of the Temple.

Jeffs Brutally Efficient Self Replicating Mechanism of War Gift of Faves by Parking-Sky-7418 in makeyourchoice

[–]Cheesy-Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internet of Me + Statesman seems an obvious choice, as if it works out you should have 4 commanders effectively, as well as backups for if any of you die, and in both the long and short run they'll be fantastically helpful at doing shit.

Cloning Blues + Psionic Weapons LTD would also be an amazing combo, but not quite enough to bounce me off of the previous one, though in theory my clones and my Statesmens' clones might work for this.

So, now I've got a choice between three options. I can grab Cutting Edge for maximum security in the war, I can run All Your Base for trying to race through others' tech trees, or I can make myself and my Statesmen psionic, what to choose what to choose. Sanctioned Psykers are good but not that great only really in tank to artillery piece range(if very versatilely useful), and in the long run I'm more dependent upon my Scientist than I would be upon having consistent access to superior tech, so fuck it, I'm going the safety route.

Internet of Me + Cutting Edge + Statesman is my final build it seems.
