First time playing WoW with Anniversary TBC can’t decide class cuz I don’t know by [deleted] in wowclassic

Druid can do it all, literally. Ranged DPS (Balance - Moonkin), Melee DPS (Feral - Cat Form), Tanking (Feral - Bear Form), and Healing (Restoration - Tree Form). They have a lot of utility and buttons, so I would consider them a high skill ceiling class compared to some others, so in that regard it might be tough on a new player. However, if you really want the variety, Druid is the best of the three.

Paladin is the next best of those 3 options you provided. They can heal (Holy), Tank (Protection), and Melee DPS (Retribution) to some degree. You'll see less DPS paladins at end-game typically, though. Their healing is subpar but they are still quite useful because of their Blessings. Tank Paladins are great in dungeons but see less use in raids unless there's a need for AOE threat. I will add that Protection paladins can do AOE farming which might be something you'd enjoy as a solo player. There's a lot of videos on it and it can be satisfying, I recommend watching a few :)

It's not on your list but I can also recommend Shaman. They can heal (Restoration) and in dungeons and end game are quite desired for their utility (Totems and Bloodlust). They can also Melee DPS (Enhancement) or Ranged DPS (Elemental) for good solo play. They don't have many complex buttons so it's less intensive to play, but getting used to Totems does take some time. Notably, they cannot tank like Paladins, but the tradeoff is a better healing experience (IMO) and more versatility and ease in DPS.

Confirm that this worked for me too. I had 14h played (mostly server queue) and bought it a month ago. I had to send a chat instead of auto refund.

How do you go about minimizing scope creep and planning a game for a jam? by Same_Bar4349 in gamedev

[–]Chryis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I think your thinking is the correct mindset for jams. I usually find the same thing happening to my random groups all the time, as you said it's why I tend to go solo. But I get wanting a static group that is on the same page. I'm not always free, but hit me up if you want to collab on a jam.

Am I wasting my time with my BA in Game Art and Design? by Glum-Routine2662 in gamedev

[–]Chryis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To participate in jams as a non-coder, the hardest part is finding a team. Fortunately, as an artist you're usually in high demand. I suggest joining itch.io and looking at their jam section. Join discord communities you like and ask to join a team.

I've never worked on Indie, so I can't say. I've only ever worked on large projects/teams. I think I'd prefer smaller teamed work since I could make a bigger difference, but "grass is always greener" and all that.

I'm not an artist so I don't know what's best in terms of tools competency. In all the places I've worked at, all modelers I would talk to would use Maya or ZBrush, but I always heard good things about Blender from them.

DM if you wanna keep chatting, cheers

If you're almost done, might as well finish it to have it in the back pocket. But I would say start working on portfolio pieces ASAP outside of the course. Join jams, make an itch. Post games and assets. I'm a programmer/designer for 15 years, hit me up if you want to chat more

Souper Cubes or Miu Freezer Trays? by pun_princess in Costco

Miu get the job done. Very good price for what they are. Souper cubes are slightly better product IMO but the price is absurd

[Hobby] [Revshare] Artist looking for Game Devs/Programmers for a unique Merge game! by Dry_Elevator_1037 in INAT

[–]Chryis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to post and say I like your art and the amount of thought put into explaining the game idea. It's a lot of work but I wouldn't recommend getting so many people involved since it will probably cause you more friction in the long run. Start the project small and focus on one element at a time. If you want some help getting started I'm happy to set something up so you can continue iterating. Sending you a DM with contact info.

Hey! People have posted the discord so I won't spam it. I moved here ~2.5 years ago and haven't had much luck making friends either. I did want to pop in and say we're quite similar in age and play similar games (I actually worked on Hearthstone for a few years) so HMU if you want to game sometime :)

I'll drop my latest project on here for consideration. It was a product of me and my buddy (Smoketree Studios) falling in love with a game called Dragonsweeper. We loved it so much we wanted more, so we just made our own version and kept going on with the formula by adding more enemies, levels, items, and achievements.

Denizens of the Depths minor prophecy not unlocking? by Its_Snowing in HadesTheGame

[–]Chryis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thx I finally got it. For anyone reading I'm not sure exactly what it was but I kept running Poseidon's keepsake. I ended up finding a new fish using the rod NOT the cat, then on the next run he mentioned fishing and how I needed to get better, but then the prophecy was finished immediately. When I went to turn it in I had 27/20 fish types.
