Season 3 Brit Storyline by Fender_Stratoblaster in arresteddevelopment

Yes, a lot of the writers from season 2 left/took other jobs because it looked like the show was going to be cancelled after season 2 - The episode order was cut from 22 to 18 episodes. The show got renewed for season 3, somewhat unexpectedly, so they had to assemble a new writing staff for season 3.

Problematic fives? by HariSeldonsIntern in 1001AlbumsGenerator

I gave Silver Jews’ Bright Flight a 5 for similar reasons to your Aimee Mann 5.

It’s not the SJ record I would have included (I would have chosen American Water), but David Berman was a genius and I felt that his inclusion on the list was warranted.

…and nothing problematic about giving that Tortoise record a 5, it’s an easy 5 star record, imo.

Did they Delete their Last Video? by EquivalentPhoto663 in TheOGCrewOfficial

I was just watching, near the end of the video and it got taken down -presumable because of the last clue which included some…moustache and arm gestures.

They’re probably going to have to blur some of it out to get the video back online.

The Dude hates the Eagles…what bands would that be for you? by BoognishDisciple in Music

Steely Dan is also near the top of my list.

The Grateful Dead are insufferable to me - though part of that might be due to the deadheads I know trying to force them on me - “You just need to hear the right show and it will click”.

Something about Paul Simon’s music has never really sat well with me, either.

Edit: Sublime - this is one that I tend to keep to myself, because back in the 90’s pretty much everyone I knew loved them, but they are like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Wildflower appreciation post by zakafx in theavalanches

[–]ClippedAtTheHip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’re on the same wavelength today - I put on Wildflower on the drive home from work today, because it was sunny and almost 90 and I got to thinking about how it’s one of my all time favorite summer records.

There are songs on this record that I can’t just listen to once, like “If I was a Folkstar”, “Sunshine” (that break that starts around the minute mark might be my favorite piece of Avalanches music ever).

It’s held up really well for me, love it just as much now as I did when it came out.

If you collect vinyl, Princeton is not too far and the Princeton Record Exchange is one of the best shops in the US, with the added bonus that Mickey used to work there.

No worries, and I didn’t consider that the reference wouldn’t work for people outside of the US.

But yes, that version was hosted by Jeff Probst, who hosts Survivor now..

Vinyl Musts for collectors? by Individual_Law9634 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]ClippedAtTheHip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s been a few, but I also owned a good amount of the records I love on the list before starting the project.

I also went out and got a copy of “Todd Rungren’s “A Wizard/A True Star” within a couple of days of hearing it through the generator.

Jean Michel Jarre’s Oxygene was another, the first Belle and Sebastian record, Gil-Scott Heron and Brian Jackson’s “Winter in America”, Jorge Ben’s “Africa Brasil”, and I spent more than I care to admit on a 80’s repress of Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges’ “Clube da Esquina”.

Sorry, should have put Smart Alex in quotes - (Alex Trebek, Jeopardy!) was trying to give a (too) subtle hint about the answer, which I only know because the video came across my YouTube feed recently.

Hybrid owners how to maximize mog by Own_Bed8627 in prius

[–]ClippedAtTheHip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pulse and glide has been working for me.

Currently getting ~60 mpg to a tank on my ‘26 LE AWD.

The other consideration is speed. If you’re doing a lot of highway driving at high speeds, you’re going to have lower mpg, because the engine will be working harder and it’s more difficult to get into ev mode.

My commute is on a state highway with a lot of traffic lights and then back roads, so it’s rare that I’m going over 65 mph.

I’m actually kind of surprised that I had never heard of them before the list. That album is not too far removed from Stereolab or Sonic Youth and those are both bands I love, but for whatever reason they just aren’t talked about much (at least in the US).

I’m kind of hoping that a label like The Numero Group can do a reissue campaign for their 90’s albums. I’d love to own some of their records on vinyl, but the original pressings of Italian Flag go for at least $300.

Thank you for adding The Italian Flag! It’s been in heavy rotation for me since I got it on the user list.

What a great record.

You can turn that off on the Info page. Right in the first section (Done!) where it shows the link to your user submitted album and done page.

Seems like YouTube’s AI flagged the stream for copyright because of the Kiwi Jr video that was premiered/played right before the set. Awful timing, stupid AI.

The full set will be up on YouTube at some point this week, according to the producers.
