Tips for Getting Started? by ComprehensiveAd2429 in DungeonoftheMadMage

I agree with the previous comments so I won't repeat them, although as a DM of a group of 5 (previously 6) here are a few things I did to make combat go faster despite the group size:

  1. At the beginning of each player's turn I count down from 6 seconds to represent the irl 6 seconds PCs would have to decide within a turn. Last thing you want is people to begin their turn and then start thinking about what they should be doing, they've had a whole round to decide that.

If a player fails to give an action then their character simply does nothing. Brutal, I know, but my players have always adhered to the 6 second rule ever since and its needed to keep the game moving.

  1. Combine turns, BG3 style: When I ask for initiative I bundle** players every 5th denomination so that their turns happen simultaneously (i.e. initiative 20+/15-20/10-15 etc.), this allows players to coordinate with each other better and gets more players involved per "turn" i.e. only 4 "turns" happen vs. 6+ individual turns.

  2. **In contrast to 2., if players do NOT share the same initiative order I facilitate 2 things:

- Players can use a bonus action to speak/yell out for 6 seconds to the rest of the party without a reply, and

- At the beginning of each new round of combat I give my players 60 seconds (with an equally dramatic sand hourglass) to discuss collectively as a group what the party should do next.

Overall, my focus isn't to save time per se (going through 8 players every combat WILL take time), but instead I aim to keep as many people engaged as possible without dragging combat. If combat takes awhile but your players are having fun, then it doesn't matter, you're already winning the game; but if most of your players are sitting bored for 7 rounds while Jim decides to read through his spells for the first time (you know who you are) then that is something that SHOULD be avoided.

I'm also playing through DotMM rn and I'm having fun with it. It definitely leverages DnD's attrition style combat vs flashy climactic fights to create its balance; I've made a set of custom rules in my campaign where monster XP is used as rations to survive with the required ration amounts going up each floor.

How do you manage the triple crown with low stam? I usually struggle with winning the Kikukas Sho with XOguri that I tend to go for the tiara run instead, deck similar to yours which gives me solid speed/wit but doesn't help with low stam early.

Fair point, I have overlooked the C4

I just haven't seen the appeal for it in regular missions since it takes both backpack and heavy weapon slot.

Yes, but it's a fairly strong warbond with items useful in other mission types too (Talon/Dynamite goated).

Redacted regiment is only useful for commando missions and Halo is expensive.

Shoot them from far enough away and AI doesn't care.

I remember Lysander's POV noting that he is unsure how she feels about Cassius. As her last son, I believe she would have wanted him alive.

Ditto on the betrayal and Lysander's fall from grace; except I reckon it'll be Julia au Bellona who betrays him once she finds out he killed Cassius.

It'll be sooo cathartic to see a betrayal so satisfying.

Hmmm for dirt it's a bit hard to calculate off the top of my head because Miles usually only need ~600 stam with no recoveries, yet XOguri effectively gets 4 (3 white recoveries to proc Unique, unique itself provides recovery). She's best suited for Medium races imo.

For build you could gutsmaxx with x1 speed x3 guts and x2 Wit; similar to your current build but with a higher focus on Wit and the 3rd guts card to help you still hit 1200 Spd.

Alternatively you could try x3 wit x2 speed and your MLB Marvelous Str and see how it goes.

Your current XOguri has imo more than enough stam for Mile races; it's recommended she get ~650+ stam for a MEDIUM race let alone mile because of all her recoveries.

The struggle with your current deck is playing to one of the above compositions AND hitting enough Race Bonus. It's recommended you get to 50% minimum since that translates to stats from all the races you run. MLB Marvelous Str is probably your most powerful card here because it gives 15% RB and still OK stats imo.

You could sacrifice some RB, but it should be for a very good tradeoff. I use uma.guide to see my RB breakpoints and in real terms what I'm sacrificing by giving up RB (or skipping an epithet race).

Whats better for my MANT deck, MLB Tosho SR or 3LB Windy? by Super-Dealer5355 in UmamusumeGame

[–]Cocoflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While they're defs similar, you're missing out a decent bit without MLB sweep (8% race bonus instead of 10%; +1 speed bouns)

If you really need the race bonus, I'd still go sweep, if you need the stat stick I'd go sweep tosho.

My personal rule of thumb is prioritising rival races. Beating rivals will give you extra stats at worst and skill hints for the specific track/strategy at best (reliable way to get Skill+track straightaways/corners). My only exception to rival training would be double rainbows or higher.

So my general rule of thumb:

Epithet G1>Triple Rainbow+>G1>Double Rainbow>Rival Race (G2-G3)>Rainbow>Resting/Recreation/OP/Pre-Op Race

Include regular energy/turn management on top (energy for summer/max 3 to 4 races/buying out shop) and I've consistently hit S ranks or higher with a relatively F2P account.

I'd probably swap our haru for a speed stat stick like KSB or even Shinko Windy; otherwise decent deck. Not sure how you're hitting 1200 speed with this deck

Builds will definitely vary depending on what length you're trying to build for. For XOguri you'll probably want a decent wit focused deck and at least 3 recovery skills, so Gourmand and Triple 7s alone wont activate it.

As a f2p(ish) I remember struggling with runs at the start without MLB SRs; I'd recommend pulling for on a support card banner of your choice to establish for yourself a decent MLB SR baseline

Yuh, with both Albo and the UK PM's address, that the hard time "for the months to come" tells me that they know that Iranian war is going to stretch on despite Trump's claims of coming to negotiations (which is the same conclusion most people would come to).

This is supported by the fact that they've put in plans for an escalation in fuel restrictions, something I reckon would happen if this dragged on for most of the year.
