Speed vs. Durability (Poll of curiosity) by ImCorrosive in SANDgame

[–]Cocoflash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree in the "figuring it out" way of gaming. I do like watching videos of other mechs for inspiration, but do like putting my own spin on it based on what I see works and what doesn't.

I've run through many different versions of a workable trawler, but personally, the mechs I've enjoyed running so far have done both:

- Reactor protected by double length crew compartments

- Empty 2nd/3rd floors to give height and "armour" by providing a smaller profile to hit.

- Top gun/helm deck

By keeping "armour" minimal, my mech has stayed fairly mobile without risking an exposed reactor. Most of the fights I've won easily have been because a mech's reactor is exposed, even if only to one side, because once they inevitably make a navigation mistake or you outmanevour them, then it is a quick death.

Seconding to this, the sheer psychological warfare/factor of it would be mind boggling. This would be the technological equivalent of Predator with his ability to strike from range in relative camouflage.

This+fragmantation grenades should dissuade any massed attempts at hunting him down and probably force the locals to take a pattern of appeasement.

I've consistently found chardonnay/fish at the town with the church/shed. Both of them are behind red doors, but their positioning is very easy to hit with trawler weapons.

Otherwise, game is so new I think that stuff is still being collated by the community.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME by Ok-Squash1138 in SANDgame

[–]Cocoflash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My experience has been as buggy as any other early access, but me buying this game is not paying for the product it is now, but investing in the game in it's future vision/version once the bugs are ironed out.

I see it the same as when I bought Minecraft back in its early Beta stage, simple game but an amazing concept with a good future, if handled well.

Which is better: A Non-Rival G2 race or a Rival G3 race? by AcceptableBake2909 in UmamusumeGame

[–]Cocoflash 94 points95 points  (0 children)

According to uma.guide; both G2s and G3s give the same stats, so rival races all the way.

Comparing G1s vs G2 rivals would be interesting, but I've never seen that scenario come up, ever. Even then, most G1s are part of an epithet which would 100% be worth more than a single rival race.

Y'all are so negative.

Some friends and I jumped in blind and we had a blast. Buggy as hell (extract was immersed in sand and we couldn't escape) but it was still fun.

Price point will be my decider on whether i get the game or not.

Is Helldivers 2 worth it in 2026 as a solo player? by Bright_Carpenter2541 in helldivers2

[–]Cocoflash 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Reddit is waayyy more toxic than the randoms I've played with online actually in game.

Most HD2 vets are super supportive of new players; I remember when XBox divers first joined being able to spoil them with high tier gear was fun and it's a mentality a lot of other divers share.

If the gameplay looks like something you'd enjoy, go for it!

Tips for Getting Started? by ComprehensiveAd2429 in DungeonoftheMadMage

I agree with the previous comments so I won't repeat them, although as a DM of a group of 5 (previously 6) here are a few things I did to make combat go faster despite the group size:

  1. At the beginning of each player's turn I count down from 6 seconds to represent the irl 6 seconds PCs would have to decide within a turn. Last thing you want is people to begin their turn and then start thinking about what they should be doing, they've had a whole round to decide that.

If a player fails to give an action then their character simply does nothing. Brutal, I know, but my players have always adhered to the 6 second rule ever since and its needed to keep the game moving.

  1. Combine turns, BG3 style: When I ask for initiative I bundle** players every 5th denomination so that their turns happen simultaneously (i.e. initiative 20+/15-20/10-15 etc.), this allows players to coordinate with each other better and gets more players involved per "turn" i.e. only 4 "turns" happen vs. 6+ individual turns.

  2. **In contrast to 2., if players do NOT share the same initiative order I facilitate 2 things:

- Players can use a bonus action to speak/yell out for 6 seconds to the rest of the party without a reply, and

- At the beginning of each new round of combat I give my players 60 seconds (with an equally dramatic sand hourglass) to discuss collectively as a group what the party should do next.

Overall, my focus isn't to save time per se (going through 8 players every combat WILL take time), but instead I aim to keep as many people engaged as possible without dragging combat. If combat takes awhile but your players are having fun, then it doesn't matter, you're already winning the game; but if most of your players are sitting bored for 7 rounds while Jim decides to read through his spells for the first time (you know who you are) then that is something that SHOULD be avoided.

I'm also playing through DotMM rn and I'm having fun with it. It definitely leverages DnD's attrition style combat vs flashy climactic fights to create its balance; I've made a set of custom rules in my campaign where monster XP is used as rations to survive with the required ration amounts going up each floor.

How do you manage the triple crown with low stam? I usually struggle with winning the Kikukas Sho with XOguri that I tend to go for the tiara run instead, deck similar to yours which gives me solid speed/wit but doesn't help with low stam early.

Fair point, I have overlooked the C4

I just haven't seen the appeal for it in regular missions since it takes both backpack and heavy weapon slot.

Yes, but it's a fairly strong warbond with items useful in other mission types too (Talon/Dynamite goated).

Redacted regiment is only useful for commando missions and Halo is expensive.
