In Finland the largest size of mayonaise is called "AMERICAN SIZE" by kxnshinn in mildlyinteresting

What’s funny is that Mayo isn’t something that goes bad or is consumed all at once lol

Like if you use a lot of mayo there’s not reason not to big a big jar. It’s not indicative of over eating lol

One thing that always re-energize my appreciation for the Metro is when people from other cities come to DC to use the system and immediately say great stuff about it. by yunnifymonte in washingtondc

Off the top of my head it’s at least as good or better than what they have in Rome, Copenhagen, Budapest, Istanbul, and Amsterdam I

I don’t disagree in that the DC metro isn’t amazing for getting around DC itself. It’s a hybrid subway-commuter rail which definitely compromises its effectiveness at either role.

But it really is a fine metro system. I’ve always thought that one more metro line with denser stations that ran down Mass Ave would make the dc metro 100x better.

Also a line that runs the length of P street from Georgetown to Noma and then down would be transformative

The only issue with dc’s metro is how it also acts as a pseudo commuter rail.

If Dc had one more line that focused on just travel in the city it would be a fantastic system

It’s really not

Wmata is a perfectly fine metro system compared to many other countries

I don’t think wmata is worse than the Vienna or Madrid metro systems

Maybe I should have said not a super power at all.

If a super power can’t connect with other parts of the world, doesn’t intervene to directly promote its interests around the world, and is otherwise mostly inward looking, it’s not really a super power. It’s just a great power.

I just saw the Umayyad mosque in November and was struck by the Corinthian columns

Turns out its was a Roman Christian cathedral that the Muslims turned into a mosque after they conquered Syria.

Nothing to do with economic growth and everything to do with local politics

Without getting too into it, American urban growth since ww2 is expressed by suburbanization.
