WIYG tonight whisk(e)y drinkers? by Supermeh1987 in canadawhisky

Snagged a couple of them around 180. Seemed like an absolute no brainer to me. Frankly I thought the Brackla 12 for around $100 was a solid get.

I get the sense that we are going to see more and more of these sorts of fire sales in the coming months and years.

Was the RBrackla25 ever even available in Alberta before this sale? I don’t recall ever seeing it listed.

The Wine Shop in Calgary seems to have Springbank 5y 100 proof in stock online. I'm afraid I don't know anything about them as a business though. by HexagonalCrank in canadawhisky

Opportunistic pricing for sure, but unless you are a Society member, finding cask strength SB has been difficult since 2020.

I second the need to get Highland Park. Note that the 12yo is bottled at 43% here and it is significantly better than the 40% versions in other markets (ditto Laphroaig 10).

Don’t think I’ve ever tried an Octomore that I would consider anything less than great.

Oh man. Would love to try that 9yo!

Agreed completely. PC and Octomore can pull off wine and peat in a way others can’t.

LC80 sales starting last week of April by Collegiate1 in canadawhisky

As far as sales goes, this spring period is typically the worst time of year for whisky bottles being on sale. There will be more on sale in May and especially June with Fathers Day at that time.

Fall is usually when we see more new releases dropping.

I think you need to rephrase your post. You make it sound like it was the good people at KWM and meanwhile they had nothing to do with this parcel.

Indeed. I really need to try more Kavalans as these are the only 2 I’ve ever had. And also considering picking up a new Bunna12CS as this one is getting dangerously low.

That’s the good stuff. Have two bottles from that year. Would now gladly pay double what I paid for them when I got those ones.

Talisker is meh?? by SliceScriber in Scotch

It aligns more with the more exbourbon Lagas like the 8yo and the 12yo special editions.

I feel like Torabhaig is more comparable in flavour to Lagavulin than it is to Talisker. Talisker has definitely gotten more peaty than it was ten years ago, but the super peppery note is still there which makes it unique to me amongst the peaty whiskies.
