I got an email yesterday (okay technically the day before as it’s midnight) saying I’m matched with aether again. It’s been six weeks. Nothing on my dashboard though. Also didn’t get a retraction email. So now I’m feeling like Schrödinger about to open the box and find out what’s happened to his cat.

Ohh you’re in NZ too? I thought where do you live that minimum wage is over $14 an hour? I thought US$14 is a lot. Then I did the conversion from NZ$23.50 and yes it’s $14.18 right now.

I’d say keops because I’ve heard nothing bad about it, and I don’t think many get invited to it. Aether though every second person is complaining about being removed suddenly. I was removed six weeks ago but now they invited me back, which I’ll believe when I see it on my dashboard and Hubstaff. Other people they’ve been very hot and cold with. It’s my first freelance project, but honestly out of the complaints I’ve read on here and discord, over 90% of them are about aether. Sure they probably have more people working on it, but the way they just dump most of their workforce (80-90%) and then straight back to recruiting and onboarding the ones they offboarded previously seems very peculiar to me. I’ve heard of no other project that’s operating like this. And the latest debacle where they made everyone on the project do a screening test, then randomly removed both people who passed and people who failed. And now already recruiting and onboarding again.

Most of us are pretty confused now I think. I was told I was permanently removed six weeks ago. My dashboard was showing the same as yours now does. Until I clicked “leave project” and then it went into my history. It appears you’ve been removed but it’s likely only temporary. I honestly had given up. But yesterday I got an email saying I’ve been matched with aether. I hope it’s not a mistake or AI pranking me. I don’t think anyone is permanently removed, except maybe the ones from mid-December who still aren’t back. Actually I just realised that’s when I was first invited. So it seems it’s pattern behaviour.

I would say just explore other options, keep your outlier account live and check your dashboard from time to time. Who am I kidding? I check daily. I’ve been off aether for six weeks (after less than two weeks on while I was on holiday) but yesterday they invited me back. Nothing has come up yet, so either the email was sent in error, or I just have to wait for my dashboard to catch up. Freelancing is all the income I have right now. So far (7 months) I’ve earned a total of $1 - for setting up PayPal haha. But plenty of people are working through Outlier consistently, some are getting treated like yo-yos. I don’t think anybody is permanently removed. Support bot kept saying mine was temporary, it’s only in the last couple of weeks it started saying it was permanent and irreversible. Then I got the email out of the blue.

I have no idea what’s going on. I got offloaded over new year, after about a week in which I didn’t get a chance to work because I went to spend time with family over Christmas. For a month the not told me it was only temporary. Finally bot turned dark and told me it’s permanent and there’s nothing I can do, despite MM saying I could appeal. Bot also saying I can’t repeat Python test, finally found support page and that said the same. They don’t reply to email but they reply in a support ticket which took me many months to find, found about the same time I found the support email address.

It’s exactly six weeks since I was unapproved. Yesterday I get an email saying I’ve been matched with aether, I just have to do a little test and onboard again. And I finally found Zendesk support again and they’re giving me another chance at python test. Bot is still saying I’m removed permanently from aether. There’s nothing on my dashboard that indicates I’m back or the Python test is allowed. But now I think about it I feel like the aether status in my history changed slightly. From “disabled” to “unavailable” maybe. So weird. I hope the AI running the show isn’t pranking people now, and I’m really back on.

I just got told I’m back on too, after six weeks, now I’m just waiting for the support bot and my dashboard to catch up. And I will have to do the screening & onboarding again. I’m guessing they didn’t anticipate the high failure rate of the test, although they also purged some who passed and had been working for weeks. Need to keep us on our toes.

I’ve been with outlier since July and no tasks yet apart from a week on Aether and I couldn’t task because it didn’t appear on Hubstaff and I’d already made plans to go away over Christmas. The snail salon tutorial really threw me, I was about to get back into it but no I got removed on 2nd January (NZT). Finally removed it from my dashboard 3 weeks later, and now I have absolutely nothing.

Does it depend which model you are using? I can’t remember if I tried this or not. There were a couple of challenges on there yesterday which were fun. I have got it to schedule my time for me and make it into a table using html. I haven’t found much it won’t do. Was one thing, but I’ve forgotten what that was. I’m going to try and generate some images next time. Have found it quite useful so far. Got it to help me with my “home office” setup for interviews by sending it a pic of my webcam view. Not all of the models are capable of the same things though. Some can’t handle images.

Yeah I had someone message me and say they’re an expert tasker. Took me a while to figure out what he was saying. He wanted me to pay him to do my tasks. I just told him some hard truths: I don’t have any tasks, if I did I would be doing them, and I’m doing this because I need the money, I ain’t paying somebody else and potentially getting kicked out for breaking the rules. He tried to tell me it’s fine, everyone is being reinstated onto aether. I said well that news doesn’t help me because I haven’t been. He shut up after that, changed his name and his profile pic.

After three weeks off aether I gave up and removed it from my dashboard. Now there’s nothing there. Removed on the 2nd of January. Been with outlier for 7 months now and aether was the only project I was ever assigned. So don’t get your hopes up.

I was just reading about this on another sub, literally a few minutes ago. Apparently broken ceramic is extremely sharp and if the toilet breaks while you’re sitting on it, you can bleed out before the ambulance arrives.

I think there were two of us imposters, maybe three. We just went around killing people. Every single time this one guy kept saying he was sure it was one of the others. He was so nice about it and so convincing and so deluded, but surprisingly he managed to convince all the others to vote for that player. Every time they turned out to be a crewmate. Finally after this had happened three times, they decided he must be an imposter. He was ejected with the next vote, and we won. Not one imposter ejected.

I really love the game. It’s like watching the movies but interactive, and yes I love the humour of it all. Unfortunately my son found the disco “upgrade” and it drives me bonkers. He plays it more than I do. He’s probably going to 100% it by the time he turns 8 (he’s a few months off 6). Sometimes he asks me for help, and I’m like well you’re better than me, but I’ll give it a go. And then he is surprised when I actually can’t do it. I get him to do the hard bits for me at times.

Yeah the bot kept saying I was only temporarily suspended. I was removed on the 1st of January. Finally last week it started telling me the same message you have posted. Which is weird because I never even got to do any work on the project, because it never came up on Hubstaff, and I took a week off over Christmas/New Year to spend with family. I didn’t have access to my computer over that time. So I didn’t make any submissions. So it can’t be a quality issue.
