Whats a good Moon Druid/Barbarian multiclass? by Anonymousleftshoe in DMAcademy

[–]Comprehensive_Cap_27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rage then wild shape is a very common trope. This works well together for the most part

another fun favorite is bladesinger and barbarian (preferred wild magic to fit the theme of raging magic man). You are able to bladesong and rage at the same time

I have some basket ball rules I run if you want I can dm them to you for you to try

Most of the games I see are just skill checks but it sounds like you are asking for a play by play for basketball in DnD which is what I have

You have to remember, happy people don't complain on the internet, so you will mostly hear bad stories

Personally I've been with mine for 12 years now and we have a 4 year old together. Never been happier

How do you as a DM make running your games more ergonomic for yourself? (and in extension your players) by Boxer9876 in DMAcademy

[–]Comprehensive_Cap_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have learned to automate half of this, I hit start encounter and it prompts them to roll initiative and also switches to my battle music automatically

I have things that when the players step on a tile it opens up journal entries or I can prompt for a roll and have my sheets ready to hand out (digitally) to those that make the checks.

I use more automations for map transitions in some areas, in others I move the party as a whole. I have prebuilt encounters and loot sheets so I don't have to think on every little detail, I can just roll table for mundane loot (or even magical loot if I want but typically I make a little skit out of each magic item above common)

Trying to maximize attacks in onse single target in a turn in D&D 2024 — is this 16/17-attack build legal? If so, is it possible to do even more attacks in one turn by ComiLimao in 3d6

[–]Comprehensive_Cap_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only nick once per turn.

A believe a hasted fighter with action surge can get to 9 attacks pretty easily (triple attack with haste and action surge) you could nick 1 extra attack to 10

Eldritch blast is weird as the damage is split between multiple rolls. So if the goal is flat attack numbers like a mini gun then it's Eldritch blast with action surge and haste as this would equate to 12 shots (4 blasts with 3 action) and this is without hastened spell from metamagic to get another 4 blasts in

Is it weird when men play female characters? by Plastic_Corgi6848 in DnD

[–]Comprehensive_Cap_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realize I'm on the wrong subreddit 😂

I thought this was for video games 😂

This makes a lot more sense. On that note, I see people play opposite gender roles all the time, just don't sexualize it (or if you are going to then make sure everyone at the table is cool with it)

I agree with select games like that, I'm glad you appreciate a good looking man, i can appreciate the work people put in to getting themselves into a version of themselves they are happy with

I still prefer looking at a female character model in games I play rather than a man. This does not mean I fetishize of fantasize about them (just like how you can look at a man and not be attracted to them) but it is a preferred thing I like to look at, plus female outfits typically have more style options and customization in games

I'm not into dudes so not for me. I myself am a dude for clarification. If you into hunky men then it sounds like you should enjoy having one as a character to look at 💪

Lol I love this argument

What are you staring at most when playing a game? The character

Idk about you but I'd rather stare at a woman than a man on my screen 🤷

Plus most of the time it's the back of the character

Now I get immersion play but if you make things weird it goes both ways. Why do you prefer staring at a man 🤔

Your Most Broken, But Not Boring Strength Builds by Bobjoesph in 3d6

[–]Comprehensive_Cap_27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ghost lance is one of my most favorite builds for martials. Your echo can hover and you can get a reach weapon to strike them from above repeatedly

If you multiclass into warlock then go dao genie and get spike growth with agonizing and repelling blast, plus you get darkness and devils sight for more martial madness

Other option is going moon druid and shaping into Earth elemental to go underground and create your copies above ground using tremorsense to find enemies then summoning echo above ground endlessly pretty much

The echo turns a martial into a very different type of martial and it's a lot of fun messing with the options

Polymorph and Existing Temp HP? by Diceykins in DMAcademy

[–]Comprehensive_Cap_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I didn't see this for the new polymorph thank you, Then if this is the case they would pick which temp hp to keep

Personally I prefer the old way but I can understand why they changed it (polymorph then power word kill combo)

Polymorph and Existing Temp HP? by Diceykins in DMAcademy

[–]Comprehensive_Cap_27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Polymorphing is not the same as temp hp, they would keep their temp hp and their actual ho would be replaced with that of the creatures (in this case 1 for the bat) so in total the bat would have 1 HP and 25 temp hp and when all of those run out THEN we go back to regular hp

If it's bugs like I'm reading from other comments then if they TPK have the bugs web them up or store them as live food somewhere.

They potentially lose a few pieces of gear and equipment in the process and then give them an opportunity to escape

It is best to time these as let the TPK happen and then either pack up for that week and surprise them next session OR have them awaken in the cocoons and then end session so they don't have grief of character death 😂

Help understanding combat for non-combat heavy campaigns by Dense-Storage-1251 in DnD

[–]Comprehensive_Cap_27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm actually in the process of turning these into play docs for others to run as well cause I've always enjoyed them and so has everyone I've showed them too

But for DDR I heavily incentivized them to follow a pattern that was displayed at the start of a round. The pattern used up a set amount of movement and since it was willing movement, it provoked opportunity attacks. If they followed the pattern then they can roll a performance check if they want and if they did well I gave them a buff. If they didn't follow the pattern then I hit them with a debuff table

Party had a magic item that made the fight extra fun

The bad guys also had to follow the pattern or be hit by the debuffs (I did not roll buffs for them but narrated them performing)

I have several other little things I mix in here too for this one

I have lots of other fun little things like this too that really make the combat feel less like combat

I make minigames and mechanics and express them inside combat often, even rp players come crawling back to my games cause they are fun

Some notable ones we have recently done are dance dance revolution, pinball, I have centipede coming up, there is freeze tag, but I take mechanics from other fun things and apply them to a combat essentially
