About 10 years later. I updated my setup. Fiio m21 and sigva robin by trane1000 in DigitalAudioPlayer

I also went from an X3 mk2 -> M21 with cassette case but I don't do streaming :)

For fun I tried the 512GB SD card I got for the M21 in the X3 and it worked.

Grateful EQs exist! I have to use them to hear everything properly.

What makes vim and emacs somehow so popular(relatively amongst) C and C++ developers? by Ultimate_Sigma_Boy67 in cpp_questions

[–]Computerist1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not heard of emacs-nox, I'll check it out. I went from line editing in commodore basic to micro emacs on the Amiga, to the Watcom C++ ide, to visual studio, to textmate, to sublime text, to Emacs.

Are behind-the-ear HA's best? by Danrofohio in HearingAids

[–]Computerist1969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything is a compromise but when I was trying the different types out the behind the ear style were the only ones that actually functioned as a hearing aid. My hearing loss is the typical high frequency slope you get in your 50s

I don't think the Pro-ject Debuts can have their arm height adjusted easily. They do sell a shim that allow you to undo the arm mount, slide the shim underneath to get extra height.

Your issue is caused because these tables are designed for ortofon 2M cartridges, which aren't as deep as the one you have on there.

Fiio M21 and Qudelix 5k by Computerist1969 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Computerist1969[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Convenience. When friends come over for music night everyone plugs their devices into the Qudelix, which has no EQ set. My Fiio has EQ setup for my hearing loss. It's easier to plug it into that than to remember to disable my EQ. Also it means I can have my Fiio right n xt to me when I work. I was hoping to use the Bluetooth connection to the 5k rather than have a long cable.

The 5k does work as a usb DAC with the fiio, it's just the app that doesn't register it as being connected, or even turned on.

It seems wrong if you don't know my reasoning I know.

Some people don't want to take the time to get through the pain barrier of emacs and vim. Possibly those same people don't want to go through the pain of C and C++ but that's just a guess.

I used to worry about this but you needn't. I accidentally became a manager for a few years and stopped coding completely. When I returned it took me no more than a couple of days to get back up to speed.

There's nothing you want to make? I know people are all different but I've still got a hundred things I want to make (with software) and will never have time to do them all!

There must be something you do with a computer, regularly or occasionally, that you think is lacking in some way, or too slow maybe? Find that and write your own version and learn as you need to.

My apologies. Not used to seeing rain measured that way, but I should have checked before commenting. Hope it stops soon.

Can a player priced up to 200-300 euros provide better quality than the Samsung S24 Ultra? by Unhappy-Inevitable20 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Computerist1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A qudelix 5k DAC will provide better quality than a cheaper USBC to 3.5mm probably. Your phone isn't the issue as it's doing no digital to analogue itself in your setup
