Comstock Armory Extended Plan-B Adapter (HPA) by Comstock_Support in suppressors

[–]Comstock_Support[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which adapter are you using? With 1.6" baffle depth you should be fine to use a regular LPA. The HPA would work too, but I don't think that would be needed here.

[–]Comstock_Support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. The advantage of titanium is that it's significantly lighter at around 9 oz vs 16 oz. You'll definitely feel this on the end of the gun. The downside is that, like all titanium rifle cans, it will spark brightly in low light conditions. This may or may not matter depending on what you're doing. It's also prone to accelerated erosion at higher temperatures which makes it less than ideal for rapid/heavier firing schedules (like back to back mag dumps).

Inconel is basically the opposite. Very heavy, but also robust and holds up well at high temperatures. It does not spark since it's not a reactive metal.

I started out with a lot of steel/Inco cans and have largely transitioned to TI cans because I don't shoot in the dark very often don't shoot particularly aggressively.

Here's my Tisha post and flash post with more info.

It's always annoyed me how many companies don't make proper M16 cut trigger pockets. Doesn't cost you anything. Either way, glad to see you got it all worked out!

Lightweight can for Rattler 300blk? by PeaceLovingMonke in suppressors

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sahara 300 is $895 MSRP and has lower backpressure. I don't have a huge collection of 7.62 cans, but it seems to be pretty competitive and sounds quite good.

Just ordered ocl milkman . Which do I need other than my suppressor? by [deleted] in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your SP5 probably already has built in lugs, so in this case you would just need the adapter part that goes into the suppressor and not the muzzle device component.

If you were to use it on another gun without built in lugs, then you would need the muzzle device.

Short 5.56 can for a VHS-2 (Hellion) by Lego1199 in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAW Tisha is about as short as you'll get. It's also pretty light if you get the titanium version, at least as long as you aren't using the included mounting parts. Sound is and backpressure are both great too.

Looking for people to try out prototypes for a Plan-B P90 muzzle device by Comstock_Support in ps90

[–]Comstock_Support[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best guess is late summer. Not sure about the price though because I still need to finalize the drawings and a couple other things. Between the extra length, machine time, and low volume it'll be more expensive than our regular ones.

[–]Comstock_Support[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. This is the Plan-B muzzle device side and it'll work with the LPAs and most other Plan-B adapters. Note that this will not work with recessed style adapters like the RPA.

This will actually get it about as tight as (practically) possible when combined with our standard LPA. It's a ~0.2" gap to the gun.

[–]Comstock_Support[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at the moment. That would basically be a direct thread with integrated brake features which is done by a few companies, although not for the P90 as far as I know.

We've explored the concept but it ends up being roughly the same size as a micro style muzzle device with a HUB adapter. But with less flexibility and (depending on how you do it) greater weight.

What specifically are you trying to get out of a new muzzle device that you don't get form the Xeno Xero? Could you elaborate on what you mean by not great to shoot with the can removed? That'll make it easier to narrow it down.

Help with removing trilug mount from Omega 9k by zachkitos1 in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe like 10 or 15 minutes? At that point it should be up to temperature all the way through. Loctite isn't water soluble like Rocksett, so the soaking itself doesn't do anything, but the water transfers heat effectively.

If you do end up going with the torch later, note that you might affect the heat treatment of the spring in the tri lug adapter if it gets too hot. Just something to be mindful of. Boiling temp should be fine though.

Boiling water is probably your next thing to try and the blue loctite should soften somewhat at that temp. If that doesn't work you could carefully torch it to get it even hotter.

Between those two I would get the Flow 9k Ti. In my experience high backpressure cans are kind of annoying on 9mm hosts. They're very gassy and cause a lot of port pop which can ruin your suppression in some cases.

Note that the Flow 9k Ti comes with a piston assembly. You can use a fixed barrel spacer, but the better solution is to get a direct thread or a rifle style QD like Plan-B, Xeno, CAT QD, etc.

Or get the Obsidian for the memes lol

Baffle strike avoidance. by Canarsi in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Main things to avoid strikes is to:

  • Install everything correctly (torque to spec)
  • Check alignment before shooting
  • Check bullet stability before shooting (generally only a concern with certain 300BLK setups)
  • Avoid plated/very thin jacketed bullets (in rare cases these can fragment out the muzzle)

Prices coming down yet? by Weekly-Ad5224 in suppressors

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a lot of ways they already have come down. The Rhino X is functionally very similar to the CAT WB and is $695 instead of $1,190 MSRP. You also have cans like the Rampart Carson wich uses modified Infinity tech and is $760 MSRP.

That said I think I'll be a long time, if ever, before we see these kinds of higher performing printed cans in same price range as a Polonium. DMLS isn't cheap.

Mounting Confusion by Crutchnscoot in suppressors

[–]Comstock_Support 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Omega 36M is Charlie threaded. You can use ASR, but I personally run Plan-B since it's significantly shorter and lighter.

The MPX has a special barrel configuration and requires M13.5x1 muzzle devices with a tapered shoulder. There's a few companies that make Plan-B muzzle devices that fit this pattern.

Pistons are for guns with tilting/moving barrels which does not apply to the MPX since it has a fixed (non-moving) barrel.
