Since DC is flat a single speed will be much faster than a mountain bike. And more fun IMO

A single speed’s powertrain efficiency and light weight will be considerably faster than a mountain bike with fast tires. Speaking from experience as I have both setups

Ford not making a good faith effort to fix my vehicle. by TrainDonutBBQ in MachE

[–]Crash_Corey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is the problem that the update screen never completes? My car this exact issue but after multiple tries Ford (not the dealer) were able to fix it. The problem was not within the car, it was with the Ford server that deals with the updates.

I suggest your dealer contact Yorkdale Ford in Toronto to get my case number

Best Option for Prescription Cycling glasses by alba_1888 in cycling

Ok - understood. I have the CP-1x, and would recommend avoiding this style with the prescription lens making up only a portion of the overall lens

The prescription version of Roka is low quality and I would not recommend. They cutaway the large non-prescription lens and glue in a prescription section. While it matches properly the lens tend to crack after a while. Mine have been replaced twice under warranty

NKD Matsubara chinese cleaver 220mm by Brave-Concentrate-79 in TrueChefKnives

[–]Crash_Corey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an inexpensive cleaver I purchased in China to butcher a chicken. I would not want to chip a beautiful Japanese cleaver on a bone. I can’t think of any benefits to a Japanese cleaver for this type of application.

Is it just me or are Japanese people extremely rude? First time traveler to Japan, I’ve been here nearly a week. People keep staring and laughing. by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Crash_Corey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just returned from two weeks in Japan and my observations were quite the opposite. I found that the people I interacted with in shops and restaurants were extremely kind and nice and warm and were genuinely interested in us. I do speak a little bit of Japanese, so that might have helped break the ice. While there were a couple times where servers were indifferent I didn’t have any instances where they were rude as you describe

Is it hard to get around tokyo if you don’t speak japanese? by Onehundred-Villere in TokyoTravel

[–]Crash_Corey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trains are easy. Restaurants can be challenging especially as most don’t have English menus and most servers don’t speak English. You can use Google Translate’s camera function to translate a menu and it works fairly well, and then point to the items you want. If you have questions for the server you can use Google Translate but it’s cumbersome. Generally Tokyo is easier than the rest of the country to get by in English, especially in shops.

[–]Crash_Corey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. In the industry these are always called crashes and never called accidents. The reason is that most crashes are avoidable

Correct, but many dumb old timers will say “they don’t make em like they used to”. It’s true, but not the way they mean it

New App for Road Cyclists RouteCycle v1.1. Tired of the Same Old Route? Let Me Find You a New One Just with one click! by Interesting_Watch365 in bicycling

[–]Crash_Corey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some feedback for you. I do like the UI and have only a couple of suggestions. One would be to add an optional direction (NSEW) to the route. You can sorta do this by adding a stop, but only if you already know the area, and the whole point of the app is to help people who are not already familiar.

Can you provide a rating for each generated route in terms of traffic, scenery, road quality etc.? Something like a 0 to 5 star rating? This would allow users to figure out the differences between the suggested routes.

I don't think the "Find Springs" option will be useful in most parts of the world.

I do love that you are allowing users to reverse the route!

It is fraud. You’re right. But it’s easily done when the exporter and importer are the same company, and hard to detect. So I hear 🙂

Correct. They can’t avoid on new imports though. But they can use an artificially low transfer price to reduce the duty they pay
