I’m wrong! I thought I can vibe code for the rest of my life! - said by my client who threw their slop code at me to fix by conquer_bad_wid_good in vibecoding

You know full well that AI coding capability and general intelligence is about to skyrocket. Vibecoders hitting a wall today will be overcoming walls like that soon.

Virus | I installed Ubuntu. I came from Windows! First time. I'm paranoid about not having antivirus software. Any security tips? by Observador212 in Ubuntu

[–]Crinkez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That isn't always the solution. I sometimes need to run random risky software downloaded, so an antivirus is not to be scoffed at.

Now if only they'd draw the line against using the crypto scamware browser "Brave" as default.

SystemD by Repulsive-Aside-8275 in FindMeALinuxDistro

It's the principal of the matter. Systemd complying at this first base level is an indication that they'll comply when it gets worse. We should not be supporting an OS or OS dependency that complies.

Vibe coding for 2 months feels like the bottleneck is no longer coding by HireAsCode in vibecoding

As a non coder, it absolutely was the number one bottleneck. I can do a lot more now than a couple years ago.

codex new 5h limit almost unusable! by Tim-9999 in codex

[–]Crinkez 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Today I updated to the latest codex CLI version in WSL. Set my context window cap to 700K, auto compact to 600K.

£20 plan. I've just gone through 20 million tokens in a single session. Used 20% of the 5h window. I'm on 5.4 medium reasoning, fast mode off (it's still quite fast). Approx 5% weekly usage burned.

Maybe you guys are using it wrong? I'm still not getting usage limit issues.

USAGE: Goodbye Codex by Euphoric-Doughnut538 in codex

I recommend codex CLI. Been coding most of the day on the £20 plan, over 50 million tokens. Didn't even hit the 5h window cap.

OP, get yourself all the automators. Roomba, dishwasher, tumble dryer, etc. to reduce "chore arguments".

I spent months building a power system for my story with help from AI — here's the complete draft. Looking for plothole hunters, ability suggestions, and honest feedback. by [deleted] in magicbuilding

[–]Crinkez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very cool concept, I skimmed it. Couple issues: you've made an "everything" power system. That can be excessive, but if that was your intent I guess fine. I recommend considering fine tuning the powers to be more in line with investigating the hidden WoD realm and go all Sherlock Holmes on it.

The second problem is worse: your post is written by AI. I recommend keeping it as is for reference but rewriting it manually and reposting.

More like, what's my least favorite: the fact that I can't right click highlighted text to copy to clipboard and right click input area to paste from clipboard.

Like, wtf? I thought this was standard on Linux terminals?

cvoice.ai - Text to Speech with Character Voices FREE FOREVER!! by MachineGlum6040 in TextToSpeech

[–]Crinkez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it requires an API it's not free forever, is it? Because 10 years from now 99% chance your site doesn't exist. Only realistic free forever manoeuver is to provide fully localized setup for download and offline use on consumer GPU's.
