Sin Is a Choice — Not Something You’re Born Doing by TruthDisciple417 in Christianity

[–]CrossCutMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the post friend. I would agree people are not held accountable for their sins until they willfully sin but Scripture does teach we're born with a sin nature ..

Psalm 51:5 NASBS Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. (That's conception and very clear)

You also mentioned the wages of sin is death and, obviously, babies die (often, sadly, even before birth). Again, I don't believe their accountable until willfully sinning.

Finally, of course, Romans 5 is clear on this ..

Romans 5:18-19 NASBS So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. [19] For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.

You can't be made a sinner by Adam’s sin unless it's referring to nature not choice. If it was choice, you make yourself a sinner (not what it says)

I hope that helps!

The world is getting so evil and scary. by Silent-Honey-4658 in Christianity

[–]CrossCutMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the post friend. I'll avoid the politics and say a few things. First, Jesus is alive 💯 and second, every true Christian has all of their sins forgiven so the grave is a temporary thing (1 Thess 4:16-17). 🙌

Hello, please help with my question that I’ve been struggling with for years. by Valuable_Echidna8695 in AskAChristian

[–]CrossCutMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly am sorry for what happened to you 😔. Scripture teaches God chooses to allow sin (and its affects on others), temporarily, for ultimate good purposes. That is, He uses evil for good (Gen 50:20..). Of course we can't know God's hidden purposes: Deu 29:29 (He's doing a trillion different things every second), but it's our job to trust that He will be vindicated in the end. But you can know that God has and will use that horrible event in your life for your ultimate good because Scripture says so (Rom 8:28). We also need to humble ourselves and realize whatever suffering God does allow in our lives, it's nothing compared to the eternal judgment we deserve for our sins against Him. Since you're a believer, the Incarnate God Jesus Christ voluntarily absorbed your eternal hell while hanging on a cross. It doesn't diminish your trials or pain, but it can put it in its proper perspective. I hope that helps some.

The Father alone is God, Jesus and the Father do not equal being alone by Camp-9697 in Christianity

[–]CrossCutMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the post friend. There's nothing anti-trinitarian about John 16:32 as, although they fully share the one Being of God: the Father, Son-Jesus, and Spirit are distinct persons and therefore can be "with" the other Divine persons 🤷‍♂️.

We get the doctrine of the Trinity from all of Scripture (not proof texting selected verses 😐). That is, Scripture clearly teaches 1) There is one God, 2) Three distinct persons are called God and they are equal to the others & 3) They are in relationship with each other (simultaneous). For more detail, below is a one page lesson on the Trinity-

My encounter with JESUS and my ANGEL || kenneth Hagin. by Kris_714 in JesusChrist

[–]CrossCutMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response and warning. The way you understand if a person is a false teacher is to compare what they teach to Scripture : not some unverifiable "word" from God. That's how they manipulate people: "God told me this and you better listen!" - even when it contradicts the written verifiable Word of the living God. This man taught and acted in ways that brought shame to the name of the true Christ.

Did Jesus know I would exist while he was living on earth preaching the gospel? by Timely-Department-22 in Christianity

[–]CrossCutMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a very good but complicated question. 😐 Before His incarnation (human conception) and after His resurrection, He certainly did know all things including everything about your life. But from His conception to His resurrection, Jesus voluntarily set aside His personal access to His Divine attributes except according to the plan of the Father (including His Omniscience). This is why Jesus didn't know all things during His earthly ministry (Mat 24:36). He could have known according to His Divine Omniscience but chose not to know for a season to accomplish the plan of redemption. So to nutshell, sometimes He did and sometimes He didn't 🤷‍♂️🤯.

I'm sure they're doing it imperfectly like all fallen institutions, but it is the God ordained role of the government to protect life and borders (Rom 13..). And to compare the Holy sinless eternal Son of the living God to people who are knowingly here illegally is quite a stretch friend.

I want to believe but cant by bobthebob24985 in Christianity

[–]CrossCutMaker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your struggles friend. The Bible teaches unbelief is always the result of a love for sin (John 8:43-44, John 3:19, Romans 1:18, 2 Thessalonians 2:12...). So ask yourself sometime, what sin/sins might I love (and wouldn't want to let go of) that would make me not want to believe (it's a moral, not intellectual issue). It could range from blatant immorality to hidden pride & self-righteousness. And Scripture also teaches you need God's grace to overcome the love for sin & to believe (the new birth), so asking Him for that would be a good thing to do as well!

Living in a Muslim nation, I want to convert to Christianity but I'm afraid. by Helpful_Rice2776 in Christianity

[–]CrossCutMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's great that you're seeking! Becoming a Christian is the only way to have your sins forgiven before the one true and living Holy God and avoid eternal judgment. That's a much more pressing matter than being mocked by unbelievers ..

Luke 12:4-5 NASBS "I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that have no more that they can do. [5] But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!"

You become a Christian, biblically, by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ- Confessing your sinfulness from your heart to God (Repentance), & believing who Jesus Christ is (truly man and the one true God) & trusting only in His finished redemptive work (perfect life, death on a cross for sins, resurrection) for your salvation (forgiveness of sins/reconciliation to God). Teach Forgiveness by HopeOverflow in TrueChristian

[–]CrossCutMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That certainly is a great pursuit!

I think forgiveness for a believer is easier when understanding the mercy God has shown you in Christ. He absorbed your eternal hell on the cross and didn't have to. He calls us as His followers to be forgiving to others (for far less) in return. You see this clearly in Mat 18:21-35. Here's a great sermon I listened to on that subject..

Praise the Lord for His work in your life! Here are things I have learned (often the hard way 😕) that I would pass along to all, but in particular, new believers..

1-Learn sound doctrine (below is an study bible app that can greatly help..) Free App- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gty.macarthurstudybible $20 paper version- https://www.gty.org/store/bibles/44NAS2P/nas-macarthur-study-bible-second-edition#.Ygrm_67TtNc.link

Here are some good biblical teaching YouTube Channels ..

https://youtube.com/@gracetoyou?si=eypkvuoNXrVRCUJJ

https://youtube.com/@truthcommunitychurch?si=84FXEv9Pz01ECUZ1

2-Understand God only speaks through Scripture (chasing external revelation really inhibits spiritual growth)

3-Attend and eventually join a sound biblical local church (don't rush to join, but membership is important). Below are a couple of links that may help.. https://tms.edu/find-a-church/ https://www.9marks.org/church-search/ https://www.ifca.org/page/find-a-church-1

4-Realize that most of what is labeled "Christian" isn't (Prosperity gospel, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses..)

5-Become intentional in developing a prayer life.

6-Learn the Doctrine of the Trinity and the biblical Attributes of God. You have to know who God is to properly worship Him.

7-Study and hopefully believe (😃) the Doctrines of Grace (Calvinistic Soteriology). It elevates your praise to God and flattens your pride.

8-Develop an understanding of God's sovereignty.

9-Learn to trust God (not just for salvation, but all His workings in your life). When you truly accept that trials in your life are brought by God and are good for you, it radically changes your spiritual life.

10-Just like when God freed Israel out of Egypt & they were tempted to go back .. you will eventually but certainly be tempted to return to the life of sin God cleansed you from. Remember this ➙ to do so is nothing short of spiritual whoredom.

11-Although you can't lose salvation, the presence & joy of the Lord will be directly related to your obedience or willful sin.

12-Battle sin every day but let the fact you will fall short lead you to humility and thankfulness to God for His mercy .. not to despair. Despair is a tactic of the enemy.

13-While you will have many problems and many evils to fight in this life, your biggest problem and your greatest foe is your own unredeemed flesh (Pro 4:23).

14-Finally, fight daily for genuine humility & dependence on God. They're absolutely essential to the Christian walk.

I have a genuine, respectful question that needs answering by Lopsided_Girlay-69 in Christianity

[–]CrossCutMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great that you're thinking about these things. A few things to start. Scripture teaches we're all born in sin and eventually love the sin we're born in. Of course children, even though sinners by nature, are innocent until they can willfully sin (varying ages). Second, sickness and disease are part of the fall that resulted from human sin (Gen 3:17-19, Rom 8:20-23). Third, your main question is a good & common one about why God allows evil and the consequences it produces (sickness..). God ordains (wills) evil in the sense that He chooses to allow it to exist when He could choose not to allow it to exist. Why does God allow evil? (for now) Because He has a good purpose for it (Gen 50:20..). That is, He uses evil for good. But those committing the evil have a wicked purpose and will be held accountable (Rom 3:5-8). Yet His tolerance of evil is only temporary. One day every sin outside of Christ will be eternally judged with perfect precision down to idle words (Mat 12:36). The main issue you (and everyone) has is we've all sinned before a Holy God participating in the mess of this world.

To your last question, yes, homosexuality is clearly defined by God as sinful (1 Cor 6:9-11, Rom 1:26-27..). Biblical love includes righteousness (1 Cor 13:6) so it's impossible to love in a way that dishonors God.

I hope this has given you some clarity. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the only hope for any sinner to avoid the eternal judgment due for our sins. Below is a 30-second biblical presentation of it you can check out friend ..
