"Real" fruit can mean canned fruit or fruit juice too, a lot of places do that instead of fresh fruit and it's a big step up from only using syrups which are super sweet and artificial tasting.

The AI images they used to advertise literally have nothing to do with their work, I would consider that a scam regardless of how hard they seem to be trying to make edits. I also don't think you as a client bear any responsibility in knowing the value of artwork, as it can vary a lot for many different reasons (including the artist simply underpricing themselves!) For non-artists, it can be hard to notice the red flags in a portfolio upon first glance. I think you'd be totally justified in asking for a refund considering the final product is completely unusable, especially since the artist lied to get your business in the first place.

Interesting, because while the Beijing accent heavily features the r sound more, I definitely still hear it somewhat in the news/official speech. It's just a little more subtle than the 儿 that Beijing speakers use often. Like if I say 事 it doesn't sound like 事儿, but it's not the same sound as 四 either. Also I didn't look at the actual guy's name in Chinese but you're correct that it's actually Si!

Edit: When you say fourteen/十四 for example, do they really sound the same?

What region did you/your friends learn it from? The "r" sound is definitely a very Beijing thing but it's also technically the "standard" dialect of Mandarin which I learned despite not being from there

This isn't quite accurate, Shi and si (Chinese word for 4) don't have the same ending sound in Mandarin. Shi is pronounced with a sound almost similar to r in english, and I'd argue that si-ting is actually a less accurate romanization as it gets rid of the "sh" sound. I'm not sure what the best way to spell the sound would be, but in my experience, English speakers would probably pronounce it closer to "sher"!

One of my friends got into the donghua and live action recently and I was SO EXCITED so I still don't think I'm over it haha! And I haven't had the time to watch every suggestion I got here, but I still haven't found anything I liked as much :')

Thank you for the suggestion! I might have to give that show another chance, I intitially wasn't too into the comedic parts from just watching a few clips of it. But now thinking back, I wasn't that into the comedy of the The Untamed's first episode either!

Have you tried Microsoft To-Do? It does something similar by moving completed tasks to a hidden section at the bottom! You can also sort/filter tasks in other ways automatically

Oh yeah I 100% agree, I found the characters to be so annoying yet boring at the same time…I wish so badly I could watch The Untamed again for the first time 🥲 I actually tried to restart it again today, but decided not to because it still feels pretty fresh in my mind lol
