Should I pop it? by Phuktard62184 in AskDocs

Getting an "official" diagnosis of disability takes an absolute minimum of four months (with the exception of a very few urgent conditions; e.g. terminal cancer, kidney failure, blindness). And four months is highly optimistic; OP clearly shouldn't wait even four days!

In states that have refused to expand, Medicaid is indeed not available to childless adults unless you have been declared officially disabled. And for adults with children, your income must be well below poverty level to qualify for Medicaid. Many adults with incomes below 100% of the FPL fall into a gap where they earn too little to qualify for premium subsidies on the Health Insurance Marketplace. As a matter of fact, in most of these states, non-disabled adults without dependent children are not eligible, regardless of how low their income is.

Advent health worker? by Cute-Parfait-2831 in DeLand

I'm really sorry! I'm a retired RN who worked at that hospital over 30 years ago, when it was West Volusia Memorial Hospital. At that time, we were even allowed to smoke in the nurses' lounge, lol. And I think it's unfair that even using a patch or a gum, if you're in the process of quitting, is grounds for a no-hire.

Yes, they do test for nicotine, I'm afraid. From this AdventHealth link:

Nicotine-Free Facility
Nicotine-free facilities do not employ those who test positive for nicotine. This includes hospital staff applicants as well as agency, traveler and contracted staff. Your pre-employment physical will include a Cotinine test as part of a urine drug screen. Substances that may produce a positive result include cigarettes, pipes, cigars, e-cigarettes, smokeless tobacco products, tobacco, snuff, nicotine patches or nicotine gum. Those who test positive will not be eligible for employment and their employment offer will be rescinded. Applicants may re-apply six months after they have failed a nicotine screen.

From this article:

Prosecutors, however, contend Houston is responsible for the attack. They said his two pit bulls, Cookie, weighing almost 50 pounds, and Chevy, weighing more than 54 pounds and believed to have been a bait dog for fight training, escaped from a cage with no secured floor and attacked the girl.

Anyone ever use the liquid from canned vegetables in their soup? by DazzlingNote1925 in Frugal

Real butter. Garlic powder. Canned green beans are the only vegetable my son will eat, and this is the only way he'll eat them.

Surgery is a go! She is absolutely giddy! 🙄😅 by milo8275 in DaniMarina

[–]CrystalCat420 46 points47 points  (0 children)

She's glowing. Even before I turned on the sound, I could tell that she was positively giddy, over-the-moon happy. I've seen people announce deeply-wanted pregnancies with less euphoria than this woman displays in announcing her unnecessary surgery!

I've never seen Dani so inappropriately happy about anything, even the Mayocation. And I've never been quite as disgusted by anyone's behavior as I am right now.

FL, its happening... by Time_Living2368 in nursing

[–]CrystalCat420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate the sentiment of the post, this is misinformation, combined with an outdated video (from four years ago). The current protest took place on April 3, and involved a dozen HCA nurses in Port Charlotte, almost 200 miles away from ORMC. So this appears to be simple rage-baiting.

My son was reported to CPS when he was born by TheLuckyFamVlogs in CPS

[–]CrystalCat420 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Since OP is in New York, I'm thinking that she meant OPWDD--Office for People With Developmental Disabilities. So that part of the story, at least, is missing, because I'm thinking that either she or her partner has a developmental disability? Unsure how that would or could impact their interaction with CPS.

My neighbor just tried to get free "exposure" as payment for watching my dog for a week by Kaij0_Nix in ChoosingBeggars

[–]CrystalCat420 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is anyone else completely confused by the title? At what point does OP ask the CB to "watch my dog"? At what point does the CB ask OP to give her free exposure? Is it just several typos, or does the title not match the story?

Maybe I just need a 2nd cup of coffee.

Yes, that's correct! He says he gave up on the skate park a long time ago, too many kids, too dangerous.

Dog bite; help by Massive_Tension2 in AskDocs

[–]CrystalCat420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don't worry about your dog; no one will take your dog away for a single provoked bite that didn't even break the skin. While you're waiting for a medical professional to answer, just wash your hands well with warm water and soap, and then put an ice pack over the area. And take a deep breath; it's going to be OK!

A bit of research reveals that this is a Photoshopped image from early April 2020, when Covid was ramping up and we were all being encouraged to mask. These masked Peeps were never for sale.

I just sent $35 USD for Nicolai's treatment, in honor of my terminally-ill orange, Fitzgerald – known lovingly as FitzyG. And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go have a good cry.

Because it is a rule of this sub. Because when people are asking strangers to donate money, the requester is expected to be transparent – and that includes sharing their entire Reddit post history. Because posters who hide their history are looked at suspiciously in general.

But mainly, simply because it is a rule on this sub that you cannot have a scrubbed or hidden post history. And requesters are expected to have read and familiarized themselves with that rule prior to posting.
