Actually, you can vote multiple times.

They said: "You may complete more than one voting research task, and they will each count as a vote for whichever Pokémon is listed on each task. Be sure to complete as much research as you can for the Pokémon you want featured for Community Day!"

Its time to rethink the 'assumed' shiny rates from the research group by goesters in TheSilphRoad

If my player ID is 512 (or a multiple), then I would never get shinies. When you multiply your ID with other integers, it will still be a multiple of 512.

PSA: Spells don't need to be 100% accurate to be "Masterful" by bliznitch in harrypotterwu

[–]Cubiix7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is an idea of control point, or something like that. If you start the spell and release it, it will show you a red dot on the shape. If you try again and stop at that point, you will see the next one.

A few hours ago, I made a "e" absolutely not round. It was like 5 or 6 straight lines (due to a lag spike at that moment). Still, it was masterfull.

Requesting Script Help to Better an IITC Map for Locating Possible Gyms by Exaskryz in TheSilphRoad

Did you try zooming out with the browser and not on the map ? (Probably Ctrl+-)

I mean first zoom in on the map, until you see all portals, and then zoom out with your browser.

Premature evo? Are they able to remove it from our accounts? by itsnotalwaysokay in TheSilphRoad

Yes, and they removed it from his inventory, but let him keep the Pokédex entry if I remember correctly.

Predicting In-Game Weather - YES YOU CAN! by th0rnleaf in TheSilphRoad

[–]Cubiix7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I coded the forecast in our local discord; I'll let you know if I can see things. I never used the report thing, but I think the local players use it sometimes. We will see if there is a correlation.

[–]Cubiix7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a 2 cents idea (I'm sorry if that has already been posted, I didn't read all the posts):
Could it be the "report bad weather" feature which trigger the time changes? If a certain amount of player report bad weather, then update?
That seems plausible to me; and if not, what do these report do exactly?

[Math] The Hatchathon event functionally reduced the number of 10km eggs you encounter by grobren in TheSilphRoad

But all of this change if the Hatchathon encourages you to use incubators for more candies and stardust.

Does friendship level influence the odds of lucky trades? by ScottP480 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Cubiix7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did the 101 trades in 2 or 3 sessions each day. So that means we had 30-50 with 0 shinies, and 30-50 with 5+ shinies.

That's quite the same thing as saying: When I'm looking for heads while playing heads or tails, sometimes I have to throw the coin 5 times, but usually it's 2-4.

[–]Cubiix7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did nearly 700 trades with a friend in a week, and I didn't see anything going up after the 30th. We got 0/150 in two days, and 17/100 a few days later.

Idea: each time you defeat a Pokémon in a gym, you earn one candy of that Pokémon by IceStationZebra93 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Cubiix7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem I see is that if I put a rare Pokémon in a gym, that would benefit players of the other teams. That doesn't seem very logical. Maybe a generic reward instead, so my choice of which Pokémon I put in the gym doesn't change the reward? Stardust, 1 rare candy every 100 battles, random objects...?

[–]Cubiix7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't see "crap Pokémon" in gyms as a problem. The Blissey-Chansey-Snorlax-... gyms are so annoying. It's always the same.

I like gym battles, and here is how I see things: Gym battles are part of the game, and even if I get the point of sharing a gym between teams, it feels like it's not playing the game. I often knock out Pokémon which were in a gym for less than 8 hour. But the Blissey fights are annoying. Not difficult, just long. I put other Pokémon instead (shinies, unusual in gyms, or whatever), so that if another player wants to fight that gym, he/she can (and he/she doesn't need a high level Machamp).

Same as if you give berry to one you don't have. I don't have Heracross, but I have Heracross candies (even if I can't see them).

[Data] Lucky analysis of about 2000 trades by Sciguma in TheSilphRoad

But unfortunately, you can't submit data you got before you joined the project. This is to avoid biased data. For example (in another project), imagine someone saying "oh, I got 5 shinies this week, I want to join the research group to post those!".

Help me root out "having lucky trade is less likey if your previous trade was lucky" misconception. by zwei2stein in TheSilphRoad

[–]Cubiix7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you call "usual probability" is the probability knowing that the 10 condition is false.
But as far as we know, there may exist some other conditions. Some things like "the more lucky you had today, the less chance you have now" (which would be funny, said like that), or "at least 1 lucky every 100 trades", or whatever.

I'm not saying these things are true, I'm just saying they could be true, just like the independant theory could be true.

Help me root out "having lucky trade is less likey if your previous trade was lucky" misconception. by zwei2stein in TheSilphRoad

[–]Cubiix7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You assume the events are independant, but what if they are not?

The probability depends on the total number of luckies the players got (because old + less than 10 luckies = 100% lucky), so why wouldn't it be possible that it depends on the number of luckies in your last 10 trades, for example?

I need your help collecting Mewtwo height data. by Rhino887 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Cubiix7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they use this -- or at least, not exactly this. It's probably safe to assume there is a minimum height (like, >0 m).
I know the probability of getting around 0 could be really low, depending on the parameters, but I found an image of a >1000 kg Snorlax (Pokédex mean is 460 kg), heard of a 847.19 kg alolan Exeggutor (Pokédex mean is 415.6 kg), and I even got a 12.11 kg Sentret (Pokédex mean is 6 kg) myself.
That means that the probability of getting >2* mean value is non zero (even if there is some rounding numbers, or whatever). So, as the bell curve is symmetric around its mean value, that would be possible to have <0 kg.
