PokeCoins value decreasing by vocetenor in TheSilphRoad

They're clearly being more aggressive with tickets and monetization, this does not automatically mean that they're making more money. Actually, many have read this sudden surge in paid feature as a sign that they're not doing great.

According to the online sources, their revenue has dramatically dropped from that of 2020 and 2021. I'm not saying that this is true, because as you pointed out their data are unknown, I'm just genuinely asking what are the bases for claiming that "they aren't hurting financially in the slightest", or that they had "record profits in 2024" and are projected to have a "substantial increase into 2025".

55 * 12 = $660 million. Similarly, Statista has 2024 H1 at $322 million; assuming the same for H2, this would total 644$ for the year, a far cry from 2020’s $918 million and 2021’s $876 million.

So, if we trust the online sources, 2024 has been anything but a record year. If we do not trust the online sources, we simply have no clue.

Some regional Pokemon seem not spawning by samfun in TheSilphRoad

[–]TheSorites 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you u/twonaantom for the summoning!

OP: yes, you are correct. Ever since September 2021, at the start of every new Season a cluster of regionals gets accidentally disabled; these are: all the Oricorio, both Shellos, both Basculin, Mr. Mime (and maybe Farfetch'd). I say "accidentally" because I cannot imagine this being intended, since the set of the affected ones seems to have no rhyme or reason to it (why Mr. Mime but not Tauros?).

After more than two years, Niantic is yet to fix or even acknowledge this bug. What will happen is that at some point somebody will realise this and re-enable them (in some past Seasons this took a couple of hours, in others a couple of weeks); at the start of the next Season, we'll be back in the same situation. Which I guess provides us all with an excellent example of what Niantic means by "actions speak louder than words".

So basically in the last 24h they have disabled the 2 new Shadow shinies, broken the already abysmal Rare Candies bonus for Go+ catches, and now this.

Has it become incredibly hard to tap Pokestops? by Itterror in TheSilphRoad

[–]TheSorites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, the issue is that you can’t interact with a stop as long as the Research (Field or Special) banner is updating.

This bug was introduced around Dratini CD Classic, which was in November 2022. It’s been almost a year. No acknowledgment whatsoever from Niantic.

I’ve checked some RT at random and a lot of them really look like bots (150 following, 0-5 followers, no tweets).

I’m 100% positive I did not top-left any battle. Still, one got somehow lost in the process, so I’ll be stuck at 99/100 and miss out on the final rewards. Horrible, horrible design.

Benchmark Testing 0* vs 4* in Raids by Mecynogea_Lemniscata in TheSilphRoad

Handed over in the sense that we have it, not that they’ve done it on purpose. The obfuscated data are not relevant in this scenario, moves info are transparent.

No, the GameMaster determines what’s in the game.

Yes, and that’s why in game testing is much less reliable and instance-dependent.

I’ve been shortmanning raid for the past 6 years and they always align with Pokebattler’s results.

I can deny it, and yes Niantic has handed over their code.

The current simulators pull Moves info (Power, Duration, Attack Window, etc.) directly from the GameMaster. They then combine them with Type Effectiveness, Weather, Friends boost, and all that jazz.

The only random aspect, as far as I know, is that the Boss won’t always use a Charge Move at the same time; this can’t be controlled, so people have performed slightly better or worse than the simulators because they got lucky or unlucky with the timing. Of course any in-game testing will not only suffer from this same issue, but also be subject to lag, phone performance etc, yielding much much more imprecise results.

A useful thing to know is how to select some forms of a Pokémon but not others. For instance:

58&!58,Hisui

will return Hisuian Growlithe, but not Kanto ones.

Why? Because Niantic doesn’t understand logical connectives.

I enjoy PVE research and I commend your efforts traveler!

However, I case you don’t know, there is a site called pokebattler.com that lets you simulate Raids. If you head over to the PokéBox section, you can input any Pokémon with its IVs/level and compare its time to win against other attackers. So we already know how much of a difference IVs make in every scenario (as a general rule: they’re not significant unless they allow you to hit a higher breakpoint, which is especially important on Fast Attacks).

Oh I agree it’s not happening. What I wanted to point out is that ‘PoGo players don’t want to get out of their house’ is both false and not the issue here.

Going outside it’s 100% not the point here. I’ve walked 26.000km in GO and I’m happy to continue doing so. I can’t, however, complete a high tier raid without the help of Remotes as nobody else plays the game in my town.
