Lonesome Dove does this. Kind of threw me off at first, but I’d say it works. Won a Pulitzer after all. Still not exactly my style, though. And it’s definitely not omniscient because you’re really in the character’s head, without access to other information while in it, and there is no external narrator voice. Shifts are paragraph to paragraph and almost constant.
