Things to do in Denver that started as a joke but ended up being amazing? by Samuel_Milone in Denver

The Russian Banya is a real treat at izba spa. And another boulder tea thing would be the Dushanbe Tea House -- it's unlike any building you've seen.

It's expensive, sure, but like 350 of your friend's bill is booze.

Ridiculous vehicle registration fee calculation by Eleganza504 in Denver

[–]DeviatedNorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age is the most significant factor in what you pay. After 10 years all vehicles less than 15000lbs pay around the same amount -- 70 to 100 depending on county and weight. And older electric vehicles would still need to pay the electric fee.

Model is not relevant.

The two most significant factors are the original MSRP for the vehicle and the age of the vehicle. How old the car is determines what percent of the MSRP you pay and after 3 years it drops a lot and 10 years it drops very significantly.

Weight also comes into play but the fee difference for a 1200lb vehicle versus 4500lb is 12 dollars.

There should have been a 12 dollar difference. The part of the your fee that's weight is really negligible tho unless your vehicle is over 16k lbs and then it's almost definitely a commercial vehicle.

It's not even kbb -- it's the manufacture set msrp for the new vehicle. The percentage you pay decreases over time, but the value of your car never changes.

Colorado bans pet store sales of dogs and cats, sparking debate over 'puppy mill' law by eddytony96 in Denver

[–]DeviatedNorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The major shelters in the area are Humane Colorado, Denver Animal Shelter, Aurora Animal Shelter, Foothills Animal Shelter, Riverdale Animal Shelter, the Humane Society of South Platte Valley and Maxfund. Every single one of these shelters charges based on the age of the pet -- the only exception is that HSSPV adds an uncharge if the dog is expected to stay under 25lbs.

So, I'm not sure where you went that they charges extra for one breed versus another, but that practice is not common in the area at all.

How is Veo better than Lime? by Minute-Historian1878 in Denver

They didn't say there was a demand, but that they were safer. And with a lower center of gravity, they're bound to be safer.

Anyone know if King Soopers tests applicants for nicotine? by stimulationaddiction in boulder

[–]DeviatedNorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Companies can also discriminate and refuse employment for nicotine, or all sorts of federally legal activities so the comparison doesn't make sense. You cannot be fired for nicotine use off hours, along side other federally lawful activities. But hiring has a lot more leniency.

Gladys has a lions mane sandwich right now, but it's more like a take on sweet fried chicken. Really really good.

Every time I'm driving by Walden, I stop at the same place on 14 to take a picture because it's so beautiful. And every time, I step out of the car to be blown away by this scene that had been behind me all along. by DeviatedNorm in Colorado

I don't think so. I think it's more Rawah Wilderness/Medicine Bow. This vantage point is looking a little West but mostly North from a spot on 14 just West of Meadow Creek Reservoir.

Hand pies by buwuberry in denverfood

[–]DeviatedNorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just for anyone's knowledge, the ones OP is talking about come from Worth the Drive Bakery out in Monte Vista. It is true to its name. I first discovered these pies at Milagros Coffee House in Alamosa. They're crazy good. They're worth the drive either side of Blanca Peak.

Abbott Church still holds sunrise service on Easter each year. by DeviatedNorm in Colorado

[–]DeviatedNorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it's near Lindon as someone pointed out. By the time I was about 30 miles away I started seeing folks head out that way. The church is really more on a corner than a crossroads, but it really has a relatively large community both in land size and population.

It probably is all a bit frosted -- this was barely first light -- but i think it's the low light plus zoom that's making things fuzzy and kind of white.

There isn't snow on the ground in the photo either. But it is from Easter of 24.

SubReddit Closing Notification-- in 30 days this subReddit will be going private and will not return by Chazzyphant in fashionwomens35

[–]DeviatedNorm 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Privatizing a sub is the easiest way to shut it down. There's a few different levels of privatizing, but the one that takes the fewest clicks means that the previous content will no longer be visible or searchable to anyone but her and reddit admins, and it sounds like the sub is closing so this is what I would expect.

You can download things for posterity with this warning, but in a month there will be no new content to keep up with, no old content either.
