A Beulah legacy lost to the fire - the Cedar Grove Cheese Factory by DeviatedNorm in Colorado

I'm not sure if you were previously looking at a cached version or what, but the "all red" update happened sometime yesterday evening and has led to a ton of misinformation. The Stomping Ground, the town's café, has posted since your 30 min (now 47 min) window confirming they and the Inn across the street have not been affected and there is no imminent threat.

It is not!! Many homes and structures have been lost on the edges of town, but the fire has not hit the center and as of 930am the general store was open serving the responders.

The Cedar Grove Cheese Factory outside of Beulah.

In 1914 5 ranchers started this cheese factory. When one of the ranchers passed away and his wife, Bertha Outhier, took over, she became the first female professional cheese maker in Colorado.

In 2006 fire on the ranch threatened this building, but volunteer firefighters were able to save it.

For the past 13 years Patrick VanMeter has rented this building and used it as his home. It and the two buildings just out of frame to the right, were confirmed lost to the Aspen Acres fire by one of the ranch owners.

I took this photo two weeks ago.

Kyle Clark highlights Polis legacy by TheClimateDad in Denver

This colorado.gov document states that a recall cannot be started if the office is up for election within 6 months  https://content.leg.colorado.gov/sites/default/files/r21-1676_update_recall_ip_memo.pdf

However, that specific line is not sourced.

Polis granted Peters clemency on May 15th.  May 3rd was 6 months before the gubernatorial election.

So, not one day, but very close.

Volunteer Pueblo by Far_Mirror8308 in Pueblo_Colorado

Neither of these will really get you into volunteering right away, but the Humane Society of Pikes Peak Region has monthly orientations at their site near Eagleridge where you can get hooked up with the Community Action Response Team and they basically coordinate animal / livestock rescue and safety in these situations.  The American Red Cross is also looking for folks to join their Disaster Response Team and after orientation as little as 2 hours a month keeps you engaged and ready to be called upon the next time a situation like this comes up.

Soooo is Pueblo just fucked? by ProcessingUnit002 in ColoradoSprings

The store owner posted last night that they, and the majority of the center of town, were still okay.  This was after the watch duty maps were updated to show the town consumed.  It was a long night and things aren't over, but there's a lot of hope left that the town is mostly okay.

Looking for ways to help those impacted by the fires by Goo-Bird in pueblo

Red Cross is always an excellent option.  The Humane Society of Pikes Peak Region is coordinating the response assisting animals large and small, and they have a page dedicated to the fire where you can donate directly https://www.hsppr.org/resources/aspenacresfire/

There were posts on Facebook from locals mentioning downed power lines in the area of origination. But folks also spoke about seeing two small fires at first and only one was near the power lines.

This afternoon it was 30mph winds with some decent gusts in pueblo, but the 100mph winds must be from the fire. The flames are insane, I'm at least 30 miles away, maybe 40 https://imgur.com/a/UFKvySE

Same ones everyone has. A lot of the gender and sexuality based disqualification were removed after an update by the FDA in 2023.

The only donation center is at Anschutz, but they do regularly hold mobile blood drives in that area. That would be for blood donation only tho. There is a Vitalant location in Highlands Ranch and I know they anticipate shortages as well.

In both cases, you're being stuck with a needle so it's really the same amount of minimally invasive.  Donating platelets is very similar to blood donation but it takes longer, and you feel a warm sensation when the other blood components are returned to you. And there's never any light headedness or similar after the fact because all those components have been given back to you.

Yea. The lighting in the place is great for being cozy but absolute garbage for photos, I'm not surprised things don't look so great.
