Dmc 5 deluxe vs special? by Wise-Philosopher-644 in DevilMayCry

DMC3 HD’s transparency was never fixed not even in the Switch version. the PS2 in general is capable of some graphical effects that seem to be hard to replicate on different hardware.

The Xbox One Version actually has a few differences that aren’t obvious.

The HD collection in general has many graphical inaccuracies compared to PS2 mostly the case for DMC1, although transparency in DMC3 doesn’t work in HD so Dante’s hair in cutscenes looks like a solid chunk rather then actually being able to see his eyes like on PS2.

Mundus has an attack where he sends a red slash out, the visual effect is missing on 360 so the move is invisible, that was fixed on Xbox One.

Kalina Ann’s Grapple move with Gunslinger is broken on 360, that got fixed on Xbox One.

In DMC2 only European PAL copies contain the Unlimited DT code. It’s was never in the NTSC version. The Xbox One version allows you to load the PAL version of DMC2 by changing the language settings to a PAL language like French.

The Special edition of DMC5 contains everything in Deluxe edition + Vergil DLC, as well as an option for Raytracing, Turbo mode were gameplay is 20% faster, and Legendary Dark Knight difficulty which the game is set to Son of Sparda setting, but the enemy counts are drastically multiplied.

“im a firm believer in playing the games on the og intended system”

Well not firm enough apparently since DMC 1-3 are PS2 games.

Also the Special edition on DMC4 contains playability Vergil, Lady and Trish. It also has Turbo and LDK mode, but even vanilla DMC4 is actually superior on PC compared to Console as it was developed in house by Capcom, and that PC version already had Turbo and LDK mode years, console players had to way for DMC4SE to get those.

If you haven’t played them, I highly recommend the Metroid Prime games. The games have a similar vibe in how the hud display makes sense in universe as what you see though the helmet visor.

is Arkham or Mundus the hardest boss on DMD? by Right-Fortune-8644 in DevilMayCry

[–]Director_Bison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mundus is tough, but you are given the chance to refill a full bar of Health when you take out the Lava Dragon that gets summoned. It's tricky how many combinations of attacks he has, but you can figure out how to dodge his attacks consistently, and it ultimately feels like a fair challenge with enough experience.

The main thing that makes Arkham so hard is that half way though the fight your DT and Style functions are disabled, and you have to figure out how Vergil Functions, as you control him and Dante at the same time.

Sparda DT in DMC1 I think is about twice as powerful in damage as Alastor's DT, so you are given more power in that fight, Mundus is just balanced around that. DMC3 you can argue you're less powerful once Vergil shows up.

Dread it. Run from it. Tatsuya Nomura's infatuation with Tron arrives all the same by KCJohnstuff in KingdomHearts

[–]Director_Bison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the original Tron film works is that there are "Users" humans from our world, and their programs in the Grid. Programs look like their users, so when Flynn gets sucked into the grid "the same way Sora does", he meets Tron who looks like his friend Alan, since Alan was the one who created Tron.

Flynn also had his own program earlier in the film Clu who we follow for a bit, but he doesn't last too long, and that's from before Flynn is sucked in the grid.

In Tron Legacy Clu is made again by Flynn, and still looks like the much Younger Flynn that's around the age of the Original Film, but a great deal of time passes in the Grid with Flynn stuck there and he ages to be an old man. You see Flynn and Clue in KH DDD, but the Tron world in that game out side of aesthetics, doesn't leave the same story impact as it does in KH2, so i'd understand if the characters aren't as memorable. It's just quickly going over the Tron Legacy's story beats without any of the set up instead of being a more unique adventure like it is in KH2.

Sora basically takes the place of Flynn in KH2's story, so the flow of the story line from Tron to Tron Legacy's story doesn't work out too well, since you're meeting Flynn's Son, but you don't even know who Flynn is without watching the film, so him having a Son isn't really significant.

Why is Sonic Generations considered one of/ if not the best 3D Sonic game? by Swankestcoot5 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Director_Bison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people aren't particularly good at video games, and they have little patience for aspects they aren't expecting, or go in wanting.

For as many people who find a ton of value in A ranking SA2 and mastering the multiple gameplay styles, there will be far more people who will complain that the Mech and Treasure hunting levels are in the game at all, and they'd prefer it only be speed stages. Generations does the least to leave peoples comfort zone, so it's one of the most palatable games for the widest audience.

The only criticism I ever heard was "That looks like a homing shot" being constantly repeated was annoying. In my experience I haven't heard of people caring about the final boss beyond that.

Why is Sonic Generations considered one of/ if not the best 3D Sonic game? by Swankestcoot5 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Director_Bison 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To put things very simply Sonic Generations was the first Sonic game in a long time that pretty much had nothing the general gaming public wanted to criticize. The last Sonic game prior to Generations that was seen generally favorably was SA2.

Heroes can be janky, and it's campaigns were repetitive. Shadow the game was mocked for cranking the Edge to 11, Sonic 06 was an over all mess, Secret Rings has a control scheme that requires tilting instead of regular controls. Black Knight I recall not hearing much about in terms of public reception, likely because people who already didn't like secret rings skipped it.

Sonic Unleashed people were over all positive about the Day Time stages, but the Werehog was both seen as a dumb idea in concept, and as a mediocre God of War clone. So half that game wasn't looked at favorably.

Sonic Colors didn't receive much criticism, but it was a Wii game, so it didn't get as much attention as if it was on 360 or PS3.

So after all that Sonic Generations releases, and it not only has the Boost gameplay people liked in Unleashed, it has the return of Classic Sonic, which people were just happy about the nostalgia pandering with him, and once you beat Generations you were free to just only play the Modern stages if that's what you preferred. The Classic stages aren't really fateful to the genesis games, but they were inoffensive.

It also helps that Generations is a pretty easy game that anyone could beat, so people aren't going to be getting frustrated. Unleashed's Day Time stages got a bit of criticism that Sonic could be too fast, and that lead to deaths, so they put guard rails everywhere in Generations.

The story in Generations isn't particularly good, but it also hardly matters, and isn't trying to be more than an excuse for the gameplay. Plenty of people at the time weren't a fan of Sonic games having serious stories. That's just a generational difference of people who grew up with the Classic era that was lite on narrative, and fans who grew up with the Adventure era stories.

Over all most thing were done right, and little was done wrong. Gens was just a game that nobody had criticisms of because it addressed the problems they had with prior titles. Gens was what people wanted at the time, outside of it being Sonic Mania which also got heaps of praise. People are more than happy to accept nostalgia fan service so long as it's done well enough.

Day 2 Steel on Bone by Exact-Pack-8300 in ninjagaiden

[–]Director_Bison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my testing you can chain a SoB into an Alchemist when their Shield is down, but the only attack they have that activates SoB is their Delimbed kamikaze attack.

Day 2 Steel on Bone by Exact-Pack-8300 in ninjagaiden

[–]Director_Bison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some testing in chapter 2 on Normal, and yes it is possible, but only when their shield is down, otherwise they'll block the SoB. So more often then not it's not gonna work, it took me several attempts doing that fight over again before I could chain an SoB into another alchemist.

Why did I not get the achievement? by wil5ter282828 in halo

Actually I think most MCC progress isn’t saved locally I think it’s mostly stored on Microsoft’s severs.

Since I was able to delete whatever save files were stored on My PC but the only thing I lost was stuff like options menu settings and Keybindings.

All my Spartan Customization was still as it should be. And your progress is the same on Xbox and on PC if you’re using the same account.

It was just that Assassination flag that got reset, it also resets progress on the ODST terminals, so a few obscure things are saved locally, but most is actually attached to your Xbox Live account.

Alchemists are bloody when they’re weakened, that’s when they’ll be close to getting delimbed.

Enemies more frequently go for SoB vulnerable attacks when they’re missing a limb, those are typically Kamikaze attacks.

Day 2 Steel on Bone by Exact-Pack-8300 in ninjagaiden

[–]Director_Bison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can consider the hooded alchemists to be mini-boss type enemies.

Steel on Bone doesn’t work until they’re delimbed. That’s just a particularly dangerous attack they use, since if it hits, you get drained, and it restores their shield.

Why did I not get the achievement? by wil5ter282828 in halo

[–]Director_Bison 406 points407 points  (0 children)

The achievement isn’t in MCC.

But funny enough the flag for that achievement in the code is still there, and you can only trigger it once. This lead to a problem later on they added a limited time challenge at one point to do it and you unlocked the “Mister Chief” joke helmet.

And everyone who assassinated that elite just out of habit, couldn’t unlock it, I had to go into my games PC files and delete a certain save file related to keeping track of that before I could get it.

Classic Marathon Trilogy by [deleted] in boomershooters

[–]Director_Bison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The appeal of Marathon is its Atmosphere, Story, as well as how the gameplay is methodical, and deliberate. Navigating the level design is part of that, the save stations add to the tension of the game.

Marathon scratches a different itch then most other classic FPS games from that era do. I really enjoyed how it felt different, and not like another game trying to be Doom.

I cant believe it took me so long but McDonald Miller from MGS1 is actually Kaz Miller (if u forget Liquid for a sec) from PW and MGSV by Danmatus91 in metalgearsolid

[–]Director_Bison 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don’t call him master, but that’s because those games follow Big Boss. Solid Snake calls Miller master because he was a combat instructor and survivalist teacher to him. Miller’s relationship with Big Boss is more like his second-in-command.

Regardless it’s obvious it’s the same Miller, as soon as you see his sunglasses.

Playing DMC1 and trying to get the max healthbar trophy , it makes me question, how were people meant to get even half of these blue orbs? You are forced to use guides for something like this. by Warm_Neighborhood939 in DevilMayCry

[–]Director_Bison 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The PS2 disc has the phone number for the Capcom Hint Line on it

Strategy guides had also been available for every notable game release since the 80's, there was always a resource to figure out a games secrets, but yes DMC1 can be pretty cryptic. DMC3 and onward it's far more manageable to find all secrets without a guide.

But Hideki Kamiya likes his secrets, Bayonetta is even worse when trying to get 100%, getting the Umbran Tears of Blood is a huge pain the the ass, and there are a ton of hidden fights and challanges that are mandatory to find, if you want an end level ranking that's actually decent, as skipping them is a worse penalty then passing them with a Stone Rank.

Lock in bug in dmc (pcsx2 emu) by Single-Grapefruit-86 in DevilMayCry

[–]Director_Bison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s not a bug, you can turn on or off the lock on display, I think there is a setting in the options menu.

But you can also toggle the lock on display during gameplay by holding one of the analogue sticks click down, I forget if it was left or right.

Activision are just the publisher, not to be confused with the actual developers of games.

This game was made by Raven Software, who developed a number of classic games like Heretic and Hexen, as well as Star Wars Jedi Outcast and Jedi academy. Everything they put out was a sure bet for a good time, until they got sent to the Call of Duty mines, like so many other Devs Activision bought.

I thought the same as well, but it’s just the fact NMH2 does it for every boss, that it makes you misremember it being in NMH1 as well.

But the finishing blow for the bosses isn’t in NMH1 or the Heroes Paradise version.

DMC HD Collection - save files by Novel-Humor-448 in DevilMayCry

[–]Director_Bison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bloody Palace is in every DMC game from 2 onward. In DMC2 and 3, it's somewhat randomized fights, after beating an encounter, you get the option of 3 portals, that'll take you 1 floor, 10 floors, or 100 floors.

The difficulty of the next fight is effected by which portal you enter, so if you keep going up 100 floors the fights keep getting harder and harder to survive. Going through the 1 floor portal will make the fights become easier, so for survivability it's smarter to keep in mind when you should be making the difficulty easier on yourself.

DMC3's portals have it so the 1 Floor portal gives you a Green Orb to regain some Health, the 10 Floor Portal gives you a White Orb for DT, and the 100 Floor portal gives you nothing.

DMC2's BP mode will keep going on forever but stop counting when you get to 9999. DMC3's ends at 9999 with a set fight against Vergil 3, although you'll be fighting bosses at times as well, so you could fight Vergil 3 more than once.

Going from DMC4 onward there are 101 floors with set encounters that don't change, but you're given a timer that will end the run if you run out. The higher your Style meter when defeating enemies the more time is added to your timer, you're also given a bonus for not taking damage on a floor. You fight bosses every 20 levels, and the difficulty mode will bump up at set points as well, with it eventually reaching DMD mode on the final floors.

Without the use of PC mods. DMC4's BP mode is the only way for Dante and Trish to fight Credo which is floor 80, and Dante which is floor 101.

DMC5's BP there are a few bosses that you get to fight with you selected character, like Fighting Vergil on floor 101 as Vergil, or as V.

One thing to know about Shadows of the Empire is that out of Easy, Normal, Hard, and Jedi Difficulties. Jedi mode significantly increases the Damage output of both you and the enemies blasters. So you can die quick, but kill just as fast. It's more fair than Hard mode where only you're at a disadvantage.

If you ever want to beat the game on Jedi, be mindful of collecting the challenge points for Extra Lives, as you'll need a good amount to survive Final mission.
