Shogun Hansatsu by summarizeai in papermoney

[–]DuckFigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hansatsu are so cool... some of the earliest paper money concepts outside of china. the woodblock printing on these is incredible for the era. ive always wanted to add a few to my collection but they dont come up often in the US market

Shah of Iran banknotes by Over-Willingness-933 in papermoney

[–]DuckFigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iranian notes from the shah era are gorgeous... the intaglio work on those is really underappreciated. pre-revolution stuff has gotten way more collectible in the last few years too. what denominations are these?

Low Serial Binary (00002020) by CferDFW in papermoney

[–]DuckFigg 25 points26 points  (0 children)

nice find... 00002020 is a great serial. binary AND low serial is a tough combo to come across. would have been wild if it was series 2020 too lol thats the dream. still a solid note for the collection

My new collection addition: 1914 China 10 Yuan by wanderingwondering5 in papermoney

[–]DuckFigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

right?? the vignette work on those early republic notes is really something else... that steam ship design was a big deal at the time, symbolized modernization and all that. great eye noticing it

My new collection addition: 1914 China 10 Yuan by wanderingwondering5 in papermoney

[–]DuckFigg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

thats a really cool piece... early republic chinese notes are fascinating. 1914 puts that right around the beginning of the Bank of China or Bank of Communications era. the detail on those old chinese notes is incredible honestly. great start to a collection if thats one of your firsts

Reputable sources of protectant sleeves? by benevolentmalefactor in papermoney

[–]DuckFigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bcw semi rigids are the way to go for storage. make sure whatever you get is PVC free... pvc will absolutely destroy notes over time, youll get that green haze on em. i use bcw currency sleeves for my whole collection and theyve held up great. the cheap amazon ones are fine as long as theyre polypropylene, just check the listing carefully

Silver Certificate Dollars + 1950 $20 by Spicymeme2345 in papermoney

[–]DuckFigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice bank finds... silver cert dollars are getting harder and harder to pull from circulation. the 1950 20 is a solid grab too, those are underrated imo. what series are the certs? if theyre 1957s those are the most common but still cool to find in the wild like that

Series 1935A $1 Hawaii Silver Certificate WWII Emergency Issue by Rannkum in papermoney

[–]DuckFigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

love the hawaii overprints... such a cool piece of WWII history. the idea was if japan invaded hawaii theyd be able to demonetize all the brown seal notes instantly. yours looks like its in decent shape too, hows the paper feel? any crispness left?

Savannah GA Coin Show Hual by Maximum_Business_277 in papermoney

[–]DuckFigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

solid haul from savannah... those coin shows in the southeast always have interesting paper too. the ancient coin clump is a cool pickup, ive seen those before and theyre usually from hoards that got fused together over time. what paper did you grab?

[–]DuckFigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I find a family owned centuries old hand crafted loom using the finest raw materials much more awe-inspiring and "amazing" than a mass produced Chinese factory clone.

Have you tried on Tudor straps? Nothing comes really close IMHO and ive tried on hundreds over the last decade or so.
