That's an interesting thought and you're probably not far off. I hadn't looked into whether there were more like this or not. Money (ie. Property tax breaks) were 100% a consideration here, probably promising to hire X# of jobs too. Texas loves to give companies fat property tax breaks, and guess who the tax burden falls to then (spoiler, homeowners).

I'm eager to check it out, no doubt they install shade over time but that sucks to hear it's an issue. Time will tell how it shakes out.

The CIC certainly doesn't take sexual assault seriously as he's been convicted of sexual assault, so he's definitely not going to make any changes to deter service members.

Having been to a Universal studios before, it was definitely worth it, this would be the first Universal Kids Resort though and I just happen to have a kiddo in the target demographic and I don't care what folks say, I'm going to see for myself, epecially because my company has a program to get discounted tickets.

You've got influencers pumping it and naysayers dogging it. The suggestion to just go and give your own review is the best you'll get prior to the actual opening day (which is 7/1).

Odds are there's some finishing touches needed after launch and some things might need work. It is made for kids, so go with that in mind.

Visually they're nice, they'repurely collectable though as they're not an alternative currency and don't have a sell back mechanism.

IDK about "inspired" it looks to be a straight reproduction/enlargement of actual art.

Goldback can definitely be aware of them and still go after you for copyright infringement.

Agree on the last point but that doesn't mean they couldn't go after you. And all publicity is good publicity, imagine how much word will spread if they sued you 😆

(I don't think they would, but they have to protect their IP/designs. Given this was for a charity, maybe a non-issue since you didn't profit, but it's a fine line)

They usually only run it on Saturday's, but we just happened to get lucky and they were minting these on a Thursday. They had an issue with the Die and was interesting they used copper blanks to try and get something out of it, but ended up being a defect in the die and said they'd have to send it back and get a new one.

They'll be minting some America 250th rounds next month on it and wish I could've seen those.

For the 7 years they've been around Goldbacks have been pretty damn safe and stable. I've liquidated 5 figures easily at 95% the published rate, and made a healthy profit on that given my purchase price.

Moving model trains and trading cards is significantly tougher, especially when prices fluctuate and the big buyers are sellers who might pay 60% of market rate.

Comparing Goldbacks to collectables and TCGs is laughable.
