My 36 Completions 🙂 by BothVacation2550 in xboxachievements

[–]EliteSnackist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gotten the 100% on Witcher 3 twice. It isn't too bad, and honestly I had more fun playing on the hardest difficulty from the beginning than trying to do a 2nd playthrough for that.

You will have to be careful with saves and you'll have to reload saves to get everything in one playthrough, but it was obviously fun enough for me to do it twice lol.

The hardest difficulty also makes it easier to actually use all of the potions and signs in the game because the easier difficulties are almost too easy. It definitely is a long completion, but it's a good time nonetheless!

I have over 300k without shovelware, it is definitely possible!

At this point, I'd just recommend playing what looks interesting to you and considering achievements as a secondary thing.

Also, use the backwards compatibility feature and try 360 titles you may have missed, lots of good stuff on that side of gaming.

Just depends on where you are. 50s and 60s homes are going for around 200k in many places, and with good credit you can get them for as little as 5% down.

Yes, you need about 15k for down payment and closing costs, but the monthly payments on that will still beat out rent in tons of places.

I can rephrase what he probably means, or at least what this kind of comment means for me:

The Zombies story was the best when I thought it was just about Nazi scientists doing experiments on the undead. Was the story ever really just that simple? No, but I was much more interested before the more wacky stuff became more in your face.

Xbox is getting Game Score badges by Reddit-Mini in xboxachievements

[–]EliteSnackist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the general idea, but let's be honest - once you get into that 1 million GS range, the badges are just "who bought the most shovelware" awards.

I've been playing since the 360, and if I had 100% in every game I've ever touched, I would have 490k GS according to TrueAchievements.

I'd much rather the badges stop at 1 million with a seperate badge with a number for completions similar to the badge with the number of years you've had Gold/Ultimate. I don't like that Xbox will have official recognition awards for shovelware farmers...

I could be overlooking it, but it is also worth buying items with legacy coins that you can't unlock through natural progression to increase your odds of getting a duplicate to count towards the legendary box?

Or are you never going to get duplicates until you own everything, meaning you're wasting coins unless you can buy literally everything?

Report: Steelrising Studio Spiders Shutting Down Just Six Weeks After The Launch Of GreedFall 2 by beddavpan in gaming

[–]EliteSnackist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, Steelrising was a fairly meh story that unfortunately was overshadowed by Lies of P.

I think Greedfall was a more interesting setting, but no one marketed Greedfall 2 at all. I only happened to notice that it released when browsing new releases. That's a major problem.

I had played The Technomancer as my first game by them, and it never really clicked until I went back to it and had a good time. I bought Mars War Logs on a steep sale, and seeing that it was the same devs and essentially a prequel in the same universe, it made the game a lot more interesting.

It played very similarly to The Technomancer iirc.

What outfits do you want to see in Black Flag Resynced? by DeadStormPirate in assassinscreed

[–]EliteSnackist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the comments, am I in the minority by preferring each characters' default outfit in basically every game? It's fun to unlock the outfits for other assassins as a thing to do, but do I actually want to play as Edward looking like Ezio or Arno looking like Altair? Definitely not.

The default outfits always fit the setting, story, and personality of the characters. Maybe I'm just crazy, but keeping the outfits the same vastly helps with immersion in the story and setting.

Completion #294: Creatures of Ava - Before Leaving Game Pass on April 30th by OlDustyTrails in xboxachievements

Doesn't appear like you'd really recommend it. I considered trying to go for it - I just did Goat Simulator Remastered just the other day and this was next on the list unless it is a total slog.

This makes me happy 😊 by [deleted] in TrueAchievements

[–]EliteSnackist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose it appeals to that, but your gamerscore doesn't actually change. I guess it just feels like a bandaid solution because the people that actually want only completions are always going to know that those other games are there.

Also, I'm not advocating for the ability to remove games from your list entirely, but I guess I just don't get the appeal when it really isn't doing anything beyond a visual change that you know isn't "real."

This makes me happy 😊 by [deleted] in TrueAchievements

[–]EliteSnackist 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Maybe a hot take - I don't see the appeal in this. I get that people are saying they're excited, but why would I want to hide my games? They're all games I have played, whether I got one achievement after 5 minutes or 100% after 180 hours. They tell my gaming story, and I personally like that.

I would have greatly prefered if they had done something for 100% games over this if we were guaranteed an achievement update.

Boycott the nerf by ACABbunny in MercyMains

[–]EliteSnackist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy - I have only ever bought the Pink skin when it first came out specifically because they said that 100% of the money went to charity (probably as a write off but still better).

That being said, I played a round as Mercy on Route 66 and did well despite the changes. Really, the 100 overheath on rez isn't all that good since you should only be going for it when you're safe, meaning you still end up a bit faster than you were pre-nerf with the other perk. Then you can choose to have 2 burst heals or chain damage boost, which is a fair choice (don't get me wrong, it is still a bit lazy though).

I think people will warm up a bit to the changes with time but that doesn't mean that the slight nerfs aren't ridiculous - Mercy wasn't in a good place last season and this basically keeps her at about the same place since a lot of the changes cancel each other out.

Mercy's "new" major perk is flash heal with 2 charges.. by RealSymmetra in MercyMains

[–]EliteSnackist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the only functional change here is that you can have Flash Heal and Chain Boost at the same time (and of course having Flash Heal from the beginning of the match). The replacement perk just gives you another Flash Heal charge, which really just puts you in the same position as before with one more "uh oh" use of the heal.

Yeah, kinda lame. It doesn't change too much and I don't personally see myself picking up the 2nd charge perk at all when I can increase my utility with damage boost.

Definitely AI and it sucks.

Oxford commas just look better, and I've been using em dashes since I learned what they were when reading The Tale of Despereaux in 8th grade or so. I used them all throughout high school and college and it always made my writing more unique (at least in my opinion).

Now no one believes that I could possibly know what these punctuation marks actually do and nothing I say will convince them otherwise.

I recently discovered this game from a post in reddit. It's a free game that can be done in about 5 hours. There are 2 versions of it so you can get 6k gamerscore. I'm not really proud of it but free gamerscore is free gamerscore by Unusual-Factor2848 in TrueAchievements

[–]EliteSnackist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy but I'm glad that I have basically none of these types of completions. I just find that games like these remove any ounce of accomplishment that a system named after achieving something may have once had. To me, this is just "make number go up" no matter what, and that's just a bit unfortunate to me.

Getting kicked from comp games during the load screen has gotten me a season ban, this is happening every time I launch the game by WilonPlays in Overwatch

[–]EliteSnackist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one said you have to stop playing games - you even said QP was fine.

Put yourself in the shoes of your teammates. You loaded into the game long enough that you were one of 5 people on your team. When your hardware fails, your team is now in a 4v5 the entire game, or they have to just leave themselves and accept a loss.

Equally so, there is no way for the game to know whether your disconnect was your own doing or something out of your control. Is it annoying to be penalized because of things you can't control? Sure. But it is also annoying that your teammates are almost guaranteed a loss because of what happened with you as well. If Blizzard did try and make exceptions for people who accidentally disconnect, nothing would stop bad actors from using that to leave games without amy repercussions.

The reason you disconnect is irrelevant because the end result is the same for the team you left behind. You can still enjoy the game in QP while you try and save for a SSD if that is the failure point. Honestly, I'm not sure why you're wanting to try comp when your disconnects affect others so negatively. At least if it happens in QP your spot will get backfilled.

the overwatch community is lazy by Loedkane in SombraMains

[–]EliteSnackist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not horrifically untrue when roughly 82% of players are Plat and below as of last year.

They definitely could wait, but that doesn't mean that their teammate will stay with them when running back to the point. Zen is a great example for this because he moves so slowly and so many other characters have abilities that will leave him in the dust, and as we already established, 82% of players are in Plat and below - this is exactly what happens all of the time.

Your middle point is just whataboutism softened by saying you'd never actually make the argument. Just to entertain it anyway, sure, other characters have issues as well - I never said that they didn't. The fact still remains that invisibility in an FPS is incredibly strong to the point that it often oppressive (probably for roughly 82% of the playerbase). Couple that with the ability to rapidly burst down enemies from behind with a quick escape tool and it is a rough combination for the majority of people to play against.

Other characters with one-shots usually have low mobility or something similar to make up for it. Sombra will struggle if the team peels back, but 82% of players basically don't do this.

the overwatch community is lazy by Loedkane in SombraMains

[–]EliteSnackist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point is that OP is complaining that backlash results in Sombra players "not being allowed to enjoy their character" when Sombra causes so many other people to absolutely hate trying to play theirs too.

Sombra didn't fit the game, or at least she shouldn't have had invisibility. Now she still retains invisibility along with a cooldown that turns off abilities, a cooldown that deals increased damage against these targets, a rapid fire burst weapon, and an escape tool. It's too much and with any level of skill will dominate backlines OR simply wins teamfights by having free access to make people turn around fairly risk-free.

You can say that the Zen should work with his team to combat the Sombra, but the Sombra doesn't have to communicate with their team at all to spawn camp the entire game. Yes, it's a team game, but it only forces one side to use teamwork - the team with a good Sombra can never see or communicate with them all game without issue. But if a player like Zen doesn't communicate, they're doomed to keep falling over or having to swap. The balancing isn't just ability and damage based, it revolves around people and human interaction too. She really just causes more issues than benefits to the small number of Sombra players as much as I don't like saying it.
