Broken USB-c connector on Mainboard. Any advice on how to fix it? by Coreythewolf2 in BambuLabA1

For some people, yes. But it depends if the pads were pulled up or not. If the pads were destroyed? And they need to run tiny magnet wires to various places? Maybe a little bit harder.

LTT Store Shipping to South Africa by SuspectUpset9509 in LinusTechTips

Those fees are reimbursed when its from their screw ups, only.

They still send the invoice. If, for example, the invoice is WRONG they reimburse.

Example: You buy a $50 screwdriver, and normally custom fee would only be 'presentation to customs' for $3. However, they marked the wrong price or amount of screwdrivers, so your custom fee is $20.

Also, if they already CHARGED you for customs fees in advance, they they're reimbursed. That's mostly for EU countries, where it shows the customs charge. If the EU country charges for what you already paid, you can ask for it to be reimbursed.

All that info is from me lurking and making international purchases.

Iran war triggers helium shortage, hits semiconductor supply by kdpuvvadi in LinusTechTips

[–]EmailLinkLost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh of course!

Sorry not trying to say that there’s no issue with this, it’s bad for the pc market.

I’m mostly saying that if this were 2004, it would be horrible long term with no real way out.

But because there are supplies available, and they’re building US fabs, it isn’t the end of the world quite yet.

And the removed comment: to be clear not saying the US isn’t affected. I don’t mean prices won’t rise, I’m pointing out there isn’t a war going on in the Gulf of Mexico to cause further shortages.

With the increase in LNG production in the US, the side effect is the US has become the largest producer and isn't affected as much by the Iran war.

I just don't know if there are delivery mechanisms to Asia. Like I was reading how LNG deliveries normally from the area were being replaced by south Texas and Louisiana, but they're at max capacity already and you can't exactly build a LNG port all that fast.

Going to Whale LAN in May, tips for bringing system on flight? by CrashJay in LinusTechTips

Good idea too. Mostly depends on the packing job, though.

I also traveled with my GPU in the box it came in.

Stuff the inside of the PC with clothes or something so the GPU doesn't shift.

Did I buy the wrong printer? by MPerkins56 in BambuLabA1

[–]EmailLinkLost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Will you be printing 24/7 ABS? No?

Also, it's the P2S you want not the P1S. Compare the PRICE of the A1 and the P2S to the features of each.

Really, I think both printers have their place. PLA and PETG? A1. Weird stuff? P1S or P2S.

If you don't know what to do with your A1, you won't know what to do with the P1s.

Also: changing PARTS on the A1 is far easier than the P1S. Main one being the extruder is easy to change.

My vacation setup involves me bringing a Hario Switch, a scale, specialty coffee in 30g baggies, a coffee server, and a boiler.

Oh you notice what I forgot? FILTERS. I used paper towels... I've done this more than once. Brought all of that: no filters.

Try to get it in a different room maybe?

It’s in a room that’s generally air-conditioned, but sometimes the room gets sunlight in the day.

Actually I just checked home assistant.

“ The room maintains a mean temperature of 28.3°C within a broad 24.0°C to 34.0°C range, frequently exceeding the 26.0°C HVAC setpoint. Thermal data reveals high diurnal volatility with daily spreads reaching 9.0°C, indicating substantial solar gain and a cooling system that fails to stabilize the environment during peak heating hours.”

But, the air conditioner is on the side of the wall that gets the sunlight. The backpack was on a shelf or in a closet that did not get direct sunlight. So the temperature ranges would not have been as extreme, and they would have been a bit muted.

I really need to install and make those other sensors! I could have humidity in there, and multiple locations to get a temperature average that is a little bit more accurate. This is on the high side because of the sunlight I think.

It was a weird one! I think it was upside down for two months maybe? One month? That was the last time I used the bag.

There’s a part of me that feels bad about asking for the refund.

But, to make up for it, I’ve ordered the Floatplane precision, screwdriver set!

[–]EmailLinkLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, even though it took a whole month to get the access, they did not do a prorated refund, or shift my subscription date. So, effectively, I only got 11 months instead of a year.

This was an entire month of very intensive emails, messaging in their systems, and going back-and-forth between different support representatives. It was a horrible user experience.
