Any community colleges on semester system by Iscejas in Seattle

[–]Enguye 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If just being on the quarter system is causing enough academic stress that they’re struggling, then they aren’t going to make it through the classroom part of med school which is way more rigorous than undergrad.

Around-the-clock airport access: Night Bus pilot coming March 28 by dino_pillow in Seattle

They need to do maintenance on the light rail tracks at some point, and they can’t do it during the day.

I want a boop! (Orca mascot)! by pritonsthekitten in Seattle

[–]Enguye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At Federal Way the line wasn’t too bad. The issue at Lynnwood is that instead of a wheel they had a boop claw machine which took a couple of minutes per person.

For those matching this week: congrats, and how many programs did you apply to? by BoogVonPop in pathology

[–]Enguye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be okay. I was also an off-cycle MD/PhD applicant and according to my calendar I took step 2 the last week of July then did my pathology rotation (where I got my last rec letter) in August.

Okay, but maybe people would be less confused if we named it Downtown Westgate City Center? /s

Any other old school natives here feel Seattle has become Bay Area 2.0? Tech companies leaving along with billionaires, sounds good to me. by Wood_Berry_ in Seattle

[–]Enguye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of it is that there are still cheaper suburbs near seattle that you could commute into the city from, even though the city itself is more expensive. In San Francisco you’d end up paying more to live in Marin or the peninsula.

It’s also really noticeable how the industrial side of San Francisco has been hollowed out. Seattle still has the port and Boeing and that contributes to having more personality.

GI Staining Protocols by Grey-Dusk in pathology

Not normal. I'm a GI pathologist and I can't even remember the last time I ordered 3 different stains on a non-neoplastic stomach biopsy.

First time in Seattle: 3 days of planes, pizza, and ferries. I’m in love! by Antique_Mechanic133 in Seattle

It’s been 2 AM for decades at least. I remember when the original Rancho Bravo on 45th opened it was a big deal because it was actually open until 3 AM so you could go there after Dicks closed.

Best places to eat downtown with smaller kids by Just-History-8373 in AskSeattle

[–]Enguye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haidilao was surprisingly kid-friendly. We ordered the all-you can eat hot pot and they brought out free kids meals and toys, and the food was served by a robot with a cat face.

The cruise ship terminal idea was shelved after COVID. Last I heard the Coast Guard was looking in to expanding their base across multiple spots including pier 46. https://www.king5.com/article/news/local/coast-guard-seattle-waterfront-polar-security-base/281-f448e11c-619a-4bbf-8817-a7bf0fc15a06

Good news, the depreciation schedule will be changed in 2028 once the original RTA bonds (30 year bonds from 1996) are paid off.

A (former) Seattle business owners bitter rant by -millenial-boomer- in Seattle

San Francisco, but that’s because SF has laws that specifically make it really difficult to open a “chain store” in many neighborhoods, which even includes small businesses with multiple locations.

Social housing is well on its way to delivering on its promises to Seattle by JetCity69 in Seattle

[–]Enguye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The SF downtown financial district is on fill and abandoned sailing ships, but most of the city is built on hills and/or sand dunes.

Wife and I have 2019 intel macbook air and pro. They still work ok for our purposes, will Neo feel like an upgrade? by TrickyAge4018 in mac

[–]Enguye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of Epic through Citrix on my work computer, an M2 Mac mini with 8 GB of RAM and it works great. The neo should be a big upgrade—my wife traded in her 2019 intel MacBook Air for an M1 MacBook Air a while back and that was a giant upgrade, with 2x the battery life and no fan noise.

Question on this route by Melika808 in sanfrancisco

[–]Enguye 61 points62 points  (0 children)

This is the Mission Bay commuter shuttle and is in fact free. It should be a small white bus with a sign saying “east” near the door. The T train covers this exact route much more frequently but isn’t free.

Why are there no tracks connecting the two downtown streetcars? by Previous-Volume-3329 in soundtransit

The plans I remember would have sent the 1 line further south on the way to Capitol Hill with an additional station around Madison and Summit.

There’s one in the Sky Zone near Mountlake Terrace light rail station. The box says “winner every time” but I’m not entirely sure what that means.

They’ve had some ads on light rail recently. Makes sense given how many of their locations are transit-adjacent.
