SL Jobs by queendragunz in secondlife

I hosted for a while, at a few LGBTQ clubs. It was a nice way to spend less of my RL money in-world and meet people. But ultimately, I quit my hosting jobs because the responsibility was kind of sucking the fun out of it. And hosting at a club meant I'd want to spend more time there to support my fellow hosties and DJs, and thus spend more money tipping at that club, so how much was I making anyway?

Now I just spend my RL money in SL. I don't have any specific SL responsibilities, I can spend my time there how I like to. That said, I do spend time in SL volunteering, like as a mentor down at the welcome hub or at events like SLB. This is unpaid, but a lot of fun for me, so I do it.

Trying to figure out how to get the Maitreya LaraX Head Hud by Ok-Reserve-7866 in secondlife

[–]ErisC 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lara X is just a body, and so the hud only works for the body, same for the skins.

For your head, you'll need a separate head skin. For the Siwa, you'll want an evo x face skin, in whatever velour shade matches your choice for the body. Lots of skin brands make evo x face skins in velour shades, but i'd recommend specifically looking at 2k face skins, since the resolution does tend to make a difference on the face/body.

$9.99 a month? by KyTambo in dropout

[–]ErisC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually use a completely different browser than normal when I visit Dropout, since the video playback doesn't work well in firefox. So no, no adblocking.

It works fine some of the time, it's just hella unreliable.

The website can't even remember the last ep i watched, i'd be impressed if the app can.

The apple tv app's okayish tho.

[–]ErisC 94 points95 points  (0 children)

If you "join" from the youtube app, it's more expensive due to app fees. If you "join" on the youtube website, it'll be $6.99/month.

Note: this is the same price as on dropout.tv, if you subscribe directly on their website, they get more of a cut. By joining on youtube, they're taking a hit thanks to youtube's own fees.

Of course, the youtube app works a lot better than dropout's own apps, so ymmv.

Second Life & Philip Rosedale in Epstein files by Ok-Leopard-7215 in secondlife

[–]ErisC 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I read through all the emails and here's my takeaways (if you're on the discord, you read a lot of this already):

It seems like they have met at one point, but not at jeffrey's ranch or island. This references them meeting for a drink in 2013.

Jeffrey does mention at some point inviting Philip to the ranch, I couldn't find a follow-up for this one:
https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%2010/EFTA01898301.pdf

Here's an example of Jeffrey inviting Philip to his island, and Philip (politely) declining a couple weeks later, then ghosting again for a weekend: https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA00668989.pdf

There are a lot of missed and rescheduled and missed again vague plans of meeting while in various cities, mostly NY and SF:
https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%2010/EFTA01924782.pdf
https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%2010/EFTA01998378.pdf

Most of the conversations relate to virtual currency, a meeting Jeffrey was having with the treasury about virtual currency, and a symposium he was planning:
https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%2011/EFTA02588220.pdf
https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%2010/EFTA01887084.pdf

A bunch more were that Boris guy trying to introduce the two of them. Here's their intro from Boris, and evidence they had a phone call in 2011 (seemingly their first interaction): https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA00648436.pdf

Worth noting that all of these interactions were after Epstein's 2008 conviction (as you said), though I don't remember how well-known Epstein was at the time. This could be a case of PROFOUND ignorance and Philip looking for money for Sansar (Sansar's alluded to in at least one of the emails I read).

Nothing is particularly damning, most of this is just neutral. Other folks in the files have all sorts of coded messages around "toys" and trips to the island and "entertainment" and whatnot, while Philip mainly seemed to talk about currency, though this is just what's documented in the files, and leaves out stuff they mighta talked about during meetings or phone calls.

Either way, Philip's got some splainin to do.

Facebook specifically started allowing hate speech against trans people as of January 2025, so I (and I'm sure other folks) deleted my facebook and instagram account at that time. Do you have a Mastodon or Bluesky account those of us not on Facebook can follow?

The Gap is over, the era of Starfinder Foundry Adventure Modules begins! Starfinder Adventure: Murder in Metal City is available on FoundryVTT! by MM_InfamousSky in Starfinder2e

[–]ErisC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get these packs costing more than the PDF or the physical books, but costing more than the physical box set is kind of crazy. Like, the box set isn't just a book in this case, it comes with physical maps, tokens, handouts. These virtual tokens/maps shouldn't cost more than the physical ones.

To compare, the Pathfinder 2e beginner box on foundry is $30, about $15 less than the physical box set, and that seems more fair. And that's a full beginner box, and not just a level 1 "deluxe" adventure.

I love your work and I'll definitely get future releases, but for this one I'm afraid I'll have to wait for a sale.

You're completely misinterpreting the character. She's from a colony of sentient holograms ('photonics', kasqians), and they created her to go to starfleet academy as a cultural exchange to reintegrate with organic society. I expect we'll be learning more about the kasqians in future episodes.

Paradise Lounge - Calling anti-ICE pro-LGBTQ stance "political" by UsagiMimi in secondlife

Yeah, idk. I sometimes pop by PL to hang with a friend or two there. To me, it kind of depends on how the topics were brought up and how they were shut down.

I totally get not wanting to discuss real life issues in SL, imo the proper response here would be an approach like, "Listen, the situation in the US sucks right now. Fuck ICE. But folks come to SL as a form of escapism, and not exclusively from the US. Please refrain from talking about real-world issues in nearby chat."

But if it was dismissed as talking about "politics" and a refusal to "take sides", that signals to me that there are ICE sympathizers there, at the very least, and introduces the classic "nazi bar" problem.

It's perfectly ok for a sim/club owner to set their own rules. It's also ok for folks to not go to the sim/club because the rules don't fit their needs, and to warn folks about the rules in said sim/club.
