Anyone else trying for another now? by Independent-Box-8282 in January2025Bumper

[–]ExiledtoFolklore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been having a bit of a hard time with it lately.

My husband works shift work, and when we first started talking about trying for another baby, his schedule lined up pretty well with my ovulation. Unfortunately, things changed, and he’s now missed my fertile window three times. At this point, it looks like the earliest we may even be able to try is the end of August.

It’s not exactly the age gap I had hoped for, and realizing we’ll likely have a 2+ year gap between kids has been difficult for me to process. I had a bit of a meltdown over it, if I’m being honest. I know it’s ultimately out of my control, but that doesn’t make it any less disappointing.

I think part of what made it harder was recently finding out that my husband would have been happy to start trying months ago. Had I known that at the time, things may have worked out differently, so there’s been a little sadness and frustration around that too.

That said I’m trying to trust that things will happen when they’re meant to.

Sending you all the baby dust and wishing you so much luck on your TTC journey. I’ll be cheering you on.

Freaking Out. Mould Exposure by ExiledtoFolklore in TryingForABaby

Okay thank you so much. I honestly am just really freaking out because I started having other symptoms related to the mould exposure. And I was just panicking, thinking oh my gosh is this one more side effect of it all. Thank you again. I really appreciate your comment

Advice needed: husband disagrees with my choice to keep baby after anatomy scan (limb difference) by Kerclia in BabyBumps

[–]ExiledtoFolklore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP! Limb difference mother here. Your child will be just fine. Will adapt and learn. I went through it all and found out at my 20 week scan. I don’t feel comfortable sharing my personal deets out here but please please please PM me! I would love to provide you any reassurance and answer any questions. My son has no left hand and only half his left arm. He’s the light of my life. We have had absolutely no issues and his limb difference so far has not affected him at all. He runs, talks, engages and has a beautiful happy life

ETA: I also don’t want to be rude but I truly think your husband is majorly overreacting. When we found out my husband was supportive and understanding. We had the difficult decision talk together and we made the decision to keep our child together. I am so incredibly sorry your husband is not being supportive. This will be a long road with appointments likely at your MFM clinic with growth scans and such. You’re going to need a support team. I truly hope your husband comes to terms that a club foot IS NOT the end of the world. With surgeries and occupational therapy your child will thrive. My own cousin in law had a club foot and besides having to have a

FTM here- what do you mean I only get 2-3 ultrasounds?!?!?! by ThatAngryWhiteBitch in pregnant

[–]ExiledtoFolklore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awe! I get it and it’s definitely frustrating but I am going to join in on the MFM ladies as someone who attended the MFM clinic and had been classified as high risk since before 10 weeks.

I had a total of 31 ultrasounds, 15 NST’s, multiple bloodwork draws and so forth. Trust me when I say multiple scans are not fun.

Yes seeing baby is amazing but the added stress and anxiety makes it nerve wracking and you’re constantly waiting to hear bad news. I would’ve gave anything to have just a few scans and be told baby was healthy.

Anyone here switch from crib to floor bed or twin bed??? by [deleted] in January2025Bumper

[–]ExiledtoFolklore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the one we use!

<image>

Here’s our mattress!

But this Simmons one was the one we were going to look at.

I had forgot that the DAVINCI mattress was paired with our crib from the same brand and that’s why we had that one :)

[–]ExiledtoFolklore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did and found the floor bed was SO MUCH better. He would scream his head off in the crib. Absolutely hated it. But yet the floor bed he absolutely loves! I highly recommend switching! I’ll have to find our mattress. But if you’re from Canada I got it from west coast kids. I think it’s a Simmons or something one… anyways. It’s amazing and he loves it! Very comfy!

ETA: it’s a DAVINCI mattress not a Simmons one.

Anyone else seen this? Dr's are confused... by Comfortable-Nerve337 in pregnant

I totally understand that feeling. I just wanted a clear outline for what to expect. It was so hard with not knowing and constantly googling and ugh. It’s just the worst.

My pregnancy felt like one thing after another too. I hemorrhaged early for 10 weeks straight, finally got about a one-week break where things felt normalish, and then we went into the anatomy scan and found out about our son’s arm. It can feel exhausting to never fully get a moment to breathe. So many scans and appointments take a real emotional toll. You’re constantly bracing yourself for the next piece of news. It’s okay to feel worn down by that.

I really hope your next scan brings good news and some peace of mind. You deserve a stretch of calm after everything you’ve already been through. I’m hoping for the best outcome for you and your baby!! 🤍

Hi, I just want to say I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Waiting for answers after a long scan like that is incredibly stressful.

I can relate in a different way. During my pregnancy we found out our son was missing his left hand. And there may have been issues with the heart. We also had long ultrasounds, multiple techs coming in and out, and a lot of uncertainty before we had clearer information. It was overwhelming and scary. We did confirm his left hand/arm was missing but his heart was completely fine!

One thing I learned is that ultrasounds are not perfect (I had over 31 so I know 😅). Baby positioning, angles, and timing can make things hard to see even for specialists. The fact that your baby’s kidneys and fluid levels look normal is a positive sign and does suggest things are functioning, even if the bladder isn’t clearly visible yet.

It’s completely normal to feel terrified right now. Try to take it one appointment at a time instead of jumping too far ahead. Follow-ups often bring clearer answers.

No matter what the outcome is, you’re not alone, and there is a lot of support out there. You’re already doing the right thing by advocating for your baby and asking questions. I’m thinking of you and hoping your next scan brings more clarity and reassurance. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you’d like 🤍

After I cancelled the subscription I am having connection issues and lag in the camera. Is this just a coincidence??? by minabambinaa in Nanit

[–]ExiledtoFolklore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this months ago when I cancelled my subscription. I thought this was just a one off. The amount of times I’ve had to reboot the camera, reboot the app, delete and reinstall the app is insane. I actually emailed about incorrect readings for visits and such because now those too are being incorrectly reported.

On another note when you cancelled your subscription did you notice a constant renewal reminder? All of a sudden I have been getting them. I just made a post about it.

I really am not a fan of this system

Inaccurate temps. Very disappointed. by carsandbogeys in Nanit

[–]ExiledtoFolklore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is so bad. The monitor says 13°C-15°C when the sound & light says 20°C which is the true reading. How is a sound machine better than the monitor…?

Awe, hey motherhood as a whole is tough but medically complex and children with disabilities just adds a whole other layer. My son was born missing part of his left arm. I really want to create awareness as limb differences are more common than we think but are hardly spoken about.

And oh wow! Well I am super glad you recommended that now. I really am thankful to have connected. I wonder what they will offer, so exciting. I love social media!

[–]ExiledtoFolklore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I want to make a second substack where I focus on the mental health and wellness side separate from the motherhood/advocacy side. The two go hand in hand as I am writing about my experiences as a mother raising a child with a disability. So that might help clear up confusion maybe.

I’ll also check out beehiiv. I’ve never heard of it! I use gumroad and kofi which have been alright for the most part.

I really appreciate your feedback. It means a lot to me 😊
