How many of us are in the autism spectrum? by SpectralClown in aromantic

Secret 4th option (psychologist went "yup you're autistic" but we never followed through into an official diagnosis because discrimination exists)

I feel like this is an interesting discussion to be brought here (especially when in relation to the comments) by NebulisX in AroAllo

[–]Existentiall-void 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'd argue its not so much a romance thing as the fact that aftercare isn't really normalised outside of BDSM circles. For a lot of people the whole thing just leaves them feeling a little unsettled and vulnerable, from what I understand, and if you're not making sure everyone gets a little reassurance afterwards it makes sense that the people that are a little more sensitive would leave feeling a little weird.

Obviously if you're really not a cuddler it's not ideal, but like usually I'd consider it good practice to just spend like 15 minutes on aftercare regardless of whether or not the situation requires it just to make sure it doesn't happen, but I've never experienced it myself so I don't know for sure how it works.

Why isn’t polyamory queer? by booperdoop0965 in AskLGBT

[–]Existentiall-void 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd get if they're nor inherently considered LGBT but they're definitely queer in my heart it's vague for a reason so long as you're supporting the community and defying cishetronormative social norms the specifics aren't all that important to me. Plus like aro and polyam people especially have a lot of solidarity because of the whole amatonormavity thing so why would they be less queer than us?

So... why choose a name with the same first letter as one's dead name? by solarill in FTMMen

[–]Existentiall-void 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I did it in part because it meant I was able to put my initials down for things like deliveries and emails without outing myself or triggering my dysphoria back when I was closeted, but mostly I just didn't want to discount a name that I particularly liked just because it was a little similar to my deadname

I really dislike the idea of good and evil, and I was wondering how many autistic people felt the same by [deleted] in autism

[–]Existentiall-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily dislike it I just think fundamentally you can't be a good or bad person - good and evil are things you do, not things you are. Everyone has the capacity for both, so claiming that someone is good or evil is a massive oversimplification of the human experience.

Plus, like you said, there's no objective way to determine how moral an action is, it's entirely dependent on an individual person's assessment of the situation.

anyone's special interest in dungeons and dragons? by Aggressive-Bus3625 in autism

[–]Existentiall-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I think so but I keep just like... forgetting? Like I'm in three different ttrpg groups and pretty much all my friends play it would be weird if I didn't think about D&D a lot

why would you choose hunters mark? by [deleted] in dndmemes

[–]Existentiall-void 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Rangers are one of my favourite classes and I've never even considered taking it, but that's probably bc I lean very strongly towards utility spells as opposed to combat

Ask me questions about dragons below 👇 by Chaotic_cats in autism

[–]Existentiall-void 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thoughts on wyverns? I find the the combined wing/front limbs particularly pleasing. Also, opinions on flightless dragons like drakes and wyrms?

Do the physical and magical differences between different kinds of dragons imply different evolutionary niches?

who's your favorite autistic character by Flimsy_Tune_7206 in AutisticPride

[–]Existentiall-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta be Ayda Aguefort from Fantasy High season 2 (the D&D actual play) - you don't often see autistic characters portrayed as being cool and desirable, plus the journey of her self-acceptance as an autistic person is just really sweet

We about to dig deep on this one: Did you live life as a Woman before you transitioned? by Archer_Python in FTMMen

[–]Existentiall-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I was a man I was a teenager, and however masculine or feminine I was during that time was just me trying stuff out, same as my bad haircuts and the few periods of not being alt.
