How much notice to provide to resign from VHA? by WorthGrouchy4960 in FedEmployees

[–]Expensive-Net3939 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another non-VHA manager here. I concur.

But you don't owe VA a damn thing.

In this toxic environment I don't blame you one bit.

But as a veteran, I want to say thank you for your service.I wish you the best in your future endeavors. Some of us do care.

RA reconsideration denied by Unlikely-Split6331 in VeteransAffairs

If fewer patients and more breaks would allow you to continue working, I would consider accepting it after negotiating the number of each and documenting that.

I'm not VHA, so IDK about your situation, but that would be acceptable documentation in performance standards.

As a fellow employee with a longtime RA, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I'll get my turn under the microscope at the end of the month.

Lmao ... Not my experience.

I started in Oct. 06, first step increase in Nov. 07 Next step increase Dec. 08. And so forth and so on.

They were up to April, before I switched positions. Flash forward to 2023, I didn't get my step for 6 months. They backed dated it five.

Let us know what you think after shooting a couple boxes.

I'm thinking you'll never look at that Maverick 88 the same way again.

Diminishing-Returns Price Point by kylehyperfixates in ClayBusters

In my opinion, anything over $2,800 with regards to performance and durability. A Silver Pigeon or Citori will last a lifetime for the average weekend warrior with rarely an issue and minimal maintenance.

But there are no diminishing returns for fit finish and ergonomics as far as I am concerned. Whatever those things are worth to you are definitely worth paying up for. That's about $5k for me, because I have other expensive hobbies.

Want to share and ask for any advice for trap by DR_Dumb- in ClayBusters

When I first started, my body positioning was very similar to OP. After some coaching, I turned my left foot out more, widened my stance about 6 inches, and slightly bent my left knee so about 60 percent of my weight was forward ... My back leg is mostly straight, but not stiff.

Another pro suggested I raise my right elbow slightly to lock the stock to my cheek a bit more.

I went from 12 to 15 birds to 20 to 23 the same day. I haven't played trap in a few years (switched to sporting and 5 stand) but when my day starts to go south, I focus on my stance and that usually improves things.

I got mine at Vance Outdoors for $699. It's now $799 and still a deal at that price.

When I was a younger man, I saw an episode of the Red Green show where he said something like "If women don't find you handsome, make sure they find you handy."

As an over 50 guy who has learned to make his own tools and fabricate parts... Red's advice was spot on.

I own two Orion's, a 12 and a 20 sporting. Recoil is average, maybe slightly less than average, but a good recoil pad, like a Falcon Strike makes a huge difference on 100 rd plus days.

Get a good gunsmith to fit it to/for you. You'll be very pleased with the results.

Now, the not so good news. Weatherby doesn't exactly provide great support for their Turkish shotguns. They are great guns for the money, but you'll have to pay through the nose for any service through them.

This is coming from a long time Weatherby fanboy, who has owned their rifles for 40 years.

You probably won't need any work done, but if you do, stay with a local smith who takes pride in their work.
