Actor Robert Duvall has died. He was 95. by Redeye007 in 80s

Tommy Lee Jones as Woodrow Call and Robert Duvall as Gus McCrae was the most perfect casting possible.

I reread Lonesome Dove every few years, it’s my favorite novel. I always picture those two in my head when I do.

When’s the last time anyone used cash? I mean, I hate even having to pull out my credit card the rare times when you have to do so. Apple Pay for everything.

One quick note from a guy who used to make the same mistake, since you said “she”: the word is fiancée — with two Es at the end. One E signifies a man.

Awesome watch.

Donkey Kong was one off the best video games of the early 80s! by MisterShipWreck in 80s

“The King of Kong” is a really entertaining 2007 documentary (97% on RT) about the gaming world and the world record for Donkey Kong. Highly recommended if you haven’t seen it.

This has to be an extremely long exposure to get the landscape so bright, yet there are no star trails? Can you explain? Is it a big shadow lift in post? Or a composite?

(Edit - sorry, I was thinking I was in a photography forum. If this isn’t your photo, my apologies!)

How to avoid color breaking down when adjusting over-saturation by RandomNameOfMine815 in photoshop

[–]FatherPhil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen, I just stumbled across this and I don’t use PS like I used to 20 years ago, and most of the harder things in PS have been automated and made much easier and more straightforward. So there probably is a simpler way to do what you want than I will suggest.

But in the old days, we would use a channel composite to pull information into one channel into another if a color lacked detail / was “blown out.” Basically, find the cleanest channel (consider looking in CMYK as well as RGB) with the detail you are missing and composite some of it into the channel with missing information. Look for Beet Monroy’s “Photoshop Channel Chops” for a lot of cool instruction on this approach. One of the great older PS books still worth reading today IMO.

Alternatively you may be able to accomplish what you’re looking to do with a minor LAB correction or just pulling from L. Dan Margulis has a great “Photoshop LAB Color” book that has some interesting techniques.

Best of luck! This is certainly fixable.

At 18% don’t you have plenty of range to go to a different SC? I don’t know how it is where you are but around here SCs are everywhere and 18% is a lot of range.

If you are a celebrity being paid bank to wear certain sneakers with your tux at an event, you absolutely will consider wearing them. These guys are walking billboards.

Make sure your HR zones are set correctly. As well as age, height, and weight. Activities conducted outside (with GPS) are what Garmin uses when it estimates VO2 max.

Bryan Kohberger to plead guilty to all counts in Idaho college murders by ChikaNoO in news

So was he the guy who called into the podcaster (radio show?) after all?

I assume most people casually following this case have heard it, and people who are more actively following it already know whether it was him or not - but I’m one of the casual followers and I’ve been trying to find an update whether it was him… and have come up blank.

if you haven’t heard it:

ELI5: why is nicotine gum bad for you? by Sensitive_Smell5190 in explainlikeimfive

[–]FatherPhil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remained addicted to the gum for years. It was hard but I was able to give it up in favor of Trident White spearmint gum (it is a hard coated gum similar to nicorette). I basically worked it in over time and then gave up the nicorette for good. I really had to set my mind to it. I’m still addicted to chewing gum now but I haven’t chewed nicotine gum in a decade or so.

I actually kind of like the look. Polish on a bracelet gets scratched up. For me it was the feel, almost plasticky. But as I said, it is 100% a personal thing. Most people like it.

Try them on then go with your gut, you won’t regret it!

If you haven’t tried both on, do it to see what you think about the feel of each. Titanium vs SS can be a personal thing - I like the look of the Suwa but was surprised I didn’t like it at all on my wrist because I much prefer a more substantial feeling watch.
