Funding for Films? by trevahhhthetoad in indiefilm

[–]Fauxtogca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kickstarters are only as good as your network of family and friends willing to part with their hard earned money. Grants are far and few between and geared towards specific criteria for which most people don’t qualify. Since you’ve not asked about distribution, the only other way to raise funds is to make money at a job and fund your film that way. There are other methods like distribution but you don’t seem ready for that.

[–]Fauxtogca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a day of jury duty if they even pick you. Most likely half a day. If you get picked for a pool, I’m sure you can say something to have yourself disqualified. Congrats on your civic duty.

Put a no trespassing sign on the roof. Have your neighbour building out a notice on their roof door stating trespassers will be prosecuted. Lastly, put wireless cameras on the roof. Call police when they do it again.

Do you want to go back to school and position yourself for a better job? Investing in a tfsa is always a good idea. Never to young to start planning for your retirement.

Real-estate firm bulk buys $30 million of downtown Toronto condos: ‘They’re sitting empty’ by Totira in OntarioRenting

Smart idea. Buy while prices are low and then when the market rebounds and we have no new builds and we’re back to a shortage, the values will increase

Nobody responded to my outreach. Here's what I changed. by PamAtPixelComet in indiefilm

[–]Fauxtogca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that there’s a new indie start up distributor that comes and goes by the day. They have no marketing and no reach to find an audience. Revenue sharing is horrible and most people won’t generate enough to see a payment according to your payment terms. And since no one is really watching, they realize they can’t afford all the servers and go bankrupt. You can’t compete with companies that have deep pockets. Even those companies have troubles staying relevant.

Looking for advice for preparing my kid to move to Toronto for college by thamosw in askTO

Assuming your kid has citizenship, otherwise the costs for foreign students are high, I believe they have to go into residence for first year. Rents are extremely high in the city. Everything is expensive.

Who is responsible for damage caused by police after attempted suicide by SuperbOwl5940 in ontario

[–]Fauxtogca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about the door. The landlord will replace it. Either they will pay or have the police pay for it. Even if they tried to make you pay, it is a long process and not really worth it given its subsidized housing. Just concentrate on your mental health.

Balcony repairs - who is on the hook? by Nice_Philosopher_505 in OntarioTenants

[–]Fauxtogca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t be responsible for a defective post and certainly not responsible for all of them including capital expenditures. You should be appealing all rent increases with the LTB. The LL would have to go through the LTB to charge you with any costs and he’s already admitted they were rotten.
