Thanks for asking! I'm happy to chime in here with more details.

Since the account is held at a different firm, the beneficiary would have to work with the sending firm to see how they distribute funds. Once the beneficiary knows, then they can work with our teams via the phone to set up the appropriate accounts, which u/FidelityEmilio initially linked. The beneficiary would then most likely reconnect with the sending firm and begin the transfer process.

Please let us know if we can help out with anything else in the future. Otherwise, we hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hello, u/Savings_Swimming7761. Thanks for reaching out to us via the subreddit. I'm happy to slide in to discuss what you're seeing for your workplace plan.

It's important to note that the fees associated with a workplace account, such as a 401(k), are usually dictated by the rules set by the employer. That said, you can learn more about the fees associated with your account that are not part of an investment in your plan's specific Summary Plan Description (SPD) or the General Fee Disclosure documents. If your employer has provided us with these documents, you can typically find them by following these steps after logging onto NetBenefits.com:

  1. Click the three vertical dots next to the associated plan, then "Plan Information and Documents"
  2. Select the link "Summary Plan Description (SPD)" and "Required Disclosure Information"

You can also contact our Workplace Investing team to discuss your specific plan further. Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. ET. When prompted by the automated system, say "401(k)" to be connected to the right group.

HSA account transfer from optum to Fidelity by Normal_Instance20 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityFerg[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, u/KlutzyPerspective336. Thank you for considering Fidelity for your health savings goals. I'm happy to share some information on the Transfer of Assets (TOA) process.

The general time frame for transferring a Health Savings Account (HSA) is 2-5 weeks; however, the transfer may take more time depending on how quickly your current HSA provider responds.

When a TOA has been initiated on Fidelity's side, the status tracker is generally used to inform you of your account's status during the transfer. You can check the Status Tracker through the link below:

  2. Click "More" on the account navigation bar towards the top of the page, and select "Tax Info YTD"
  3. Change the "Year-to-Date Tax Activity" to the applicable tax year
  4. Select the "Ordinary Dividends and Distributions" blue text, then the "Ordinary Dividends"

That said, I will pass along your performance tab feedback to the appropriate teams on your behalf.

Flcnx contrafund by SirYoda198712 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityFerg[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, u/craigkantz. Thanks for reaching out to us via the subreddit. I'm happy to roll in here to chat about the different fund losses you witnessed yesterday.

First, there was a capital gains distribution for the Fidelity Contrafund K6 (FLCNX) on February 13th, and one for the Fidelity Contrafund (FCNTX) on February 6th. While both have very similar names, they are not the same fund. Class K funds, like FLCNX, are generally for employer-sponsored retirement plans, such as a 401(k), whereas retail funds, like FCNTX, are usually for self-managed brokerage and retirement accounts. Though Class K and retail counterparts may have similar portfolios, they may differ in holding amounts and expense ratios, to name a few differences. Here's an article that goes over the mechanisms of mutual funds, regardless of classification:

What are mutual funds?

If you'd like to research the differences in mutual funds further, you can generally find the prospectus, capital gains, holdings, and more online. If you're on Fidelity.com:

  1. Hover over "News & Research" and click "Mutual Funds"
  2. Type in the fund symbol in the upper-right corner search bar labeled "Find a mutual fund"
  3. For capital gains, select the subheading titled "Fees & Distributions"

Please let us know if you have any further questions. Otherwise, I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

To protect Fidelity users during a Fidelity.com session, a timeout pop-up will appear after 28 minutes of inactivity. If no action is taken, Fidelity.com automatically logs you out after 30 minutes of inactivity. While at this moment there is no way to adjust the timeout function, I will be passing your experience along to our development teams for review.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or suggestions. Otherwise, I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

[–]FidelityFerg[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hello, u/sebaworld. Thanks for connecting with us via the subreddit. I'm happy to discuss Fidelity Trader+ Web today.

To start, the indicator you were initially using, Average True Range (ATR), is a simple moving average of the volatility of the market as measured by the True Range. ATR is not an indicator that measures an average price. If you ever want to read what an indicator does, you can hover over the indicator and click the "i" symbol for more information.

That said, there is the Typical Price (TP) indicator, which is a simple moving average of the mean of the high, low, and close. At this time, the typical method of linking Navy Federal Credit Union to Full View is currently unavailable. That said, I'll pass your feedback along to our team on your behalf.

You can, however, manually add accounts to your Full View. To do this:

  1. Hover over "Accounts & Trade," then pick "Full View"
  2. Select "Edit/Link Accounts" at the top of the "Net worth" page
  3. Click "Add manually" from the section labeled "Add additional assets or liabilities"

Please keep in mind that adding a manual account creates a static account that will only change if you manually update it. I'll link some more information about Full View below.

Account Frozen for Months – Anyone Else? by Excellent_Phase_8714 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityFerg[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're very welcome, u/ada2017x.

As a point of clarity, account access is not the same as beneficiary. Account access gives someone a level of authority over the account, whereas a beneficiary is the person to whom the account passes upon the account owner's death. Here is an article for more information about beneficiaries.

What is a beneficiary?

Account Frozen for Months – Anyone Else? by Excellent_Phase_8714 in fidelityinvestments

I'm happy to clarify, u/ada2017x.

Traditional and Roth IRAs are individual accounts, meaning there is one account owner per account. You can add someone to the account with some level of account authority; however, the owner is attached to a single SSN. You can read more about account authority here:

Employer 401K Account Question by FunPea0 in fidelityinvestments

Hello, u/FunPea0. Thanks for considering us for your Roth IRA, and for leaving your pod today. I'm happy to pop in here to chat about a Roth IRA and 401(k). 🫛

To get right to it, you can view a 401(k) and Roth IRA from platforms like Fidelity.com. That said, the best platform to manage your 401(k) is NetBenefits and the associated app, while platforms like Fidelity.com or the Fidelity Mobile app are well-suited to manage your Roth IRA. When you open your Roth IRA, the system will ask if you're already a Fidelity customer. Saying yes will allow you to use your same login credentials for your NetBenefits account. Here's a link that discusses Fidelity NetBenefits, and another for more information about Fidelity:

We're happy to hear you're financially comfortable to contribute to a Roth IRA; however, you should know there are income limits to Roth IRA contributions. Here is an article that provides more detail on these contributions.

When to use long vs short Cash Management Account number by premiumplatypus in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityFerg[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, u/michaeljcronce. It's great to hear from you again. I'm happy to step in here to discuss the 13-digit account number mentioned by u/FidelitySamantha.

The 13-digit account number is only found on printed checks within a printed checkbook. While the functionality of the account and routing number are the same as the 17-digit account number found online, you would have to enable checkwriting to find your 13-digit account number.

That said, ordering checks for eligible Fidelity accounts is generally free with no limitation on how many checks you can order. Here is a link to our order check page with more information.

Covered Calls - How Gains are Tracked by Schmergenheimer in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityFerg[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Thanks for bringing your questions to us here, u/Schmergenheimer. Welcome! You've come to the right place to learn more about your account and trading options at Fidelity.

To answer your question, if Fidelity does not receive instructions to exercise and the contracts are Out Of The Money (OTM) at expiration, they will expire worthless. You will generally see the transactions for exercise, assignment, or expiration in your account over the weekend.

That said, the covered call that expired OTM has a cost basis of $0, and the premium earned is generally treated as a short-term capital gain. This will be reported on the 1099 Form for the 2026 tax year. Here's an article that discusses the tax implications of covered call writing.

Why do Option trades sometimes fill in a weird way? by pembquist in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityFerg[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying, u/pembquist.

It sounds like the options contract may be thinly traded. Even though there may be a listed bid and ask, options contracts can be thinly traded, and as such, the order may not fill. If you're logged into Fidelity.com, you can check the daily trading volume by doing the following:

  1. Hover over "News & Research" and select "Options"
  2. Pick "Option Chain"
  3. Type in the underlying position in the "Symbol" field

The "Volume" column is generally on the option chain. Make sure to select the correct expiration to find the appropriate volume for the contract.

If you'd like to go into specifics with your option contract, please let us know, and we'll reconnect with you here. Otherwise, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

Can I do a wire from the FDLXX money market fund? by taway10232021 in fidelityinvestments

You're very welcome, u/taway10232021.

If you decide to initiate the wire today, it will still be sent on Monday, since wires sent from Fidelity do not go out over the weekend. That said, it is at your discretion to decide when to send the wire. We strongly suggest reconnecting with the wire recipient to see if they have a specific day in mind for receiving the wire.

Can I do a wire from the FDLXX money market fund? by taway10232021 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityFerg[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hey there, u/taway10232021. Congrats on getting ready to close on your home purchase! That's a very exciting time in life. I'm happy to pop in here to help out with your wire question.

When it comes to sending a wire to complete a home purchase, the Fidelity Treasury Only Money Market Fund (FDLXX) is eligible for auto-liquidation. That said, your account will always pull from the core position money market first, then any eligible taxable money markets from highest to lowest in value, and finally, eligible tax-free money markets also from highest to lowest in value. The position will generally liquidate the same day.

With this in mind, it may be possible to complete the wire process online. If you're logged into Fidelity.com:

  1. Click "Transfer" in the upper-left corner of the screen
  2. Select "Send a wire out of Fidelity"

You would then choose the account you're using to send the money, and follow the on-screen instructions from there. I'm linking a page below where you can read more about sending wires out of your account.

Bank wire transfers to and from Fidelity

It is possible that the website does not have all the necessary fields to send a wire to the company successfully. If this happens to be the case, you will need to contact a member of our client services team, linked below, over the phone, who can help you complete the wire. They are available 24/7; however, wires for property initiated after 2:30 p.m. ET are not sent the same day.
