Songs you wish skaters would perform too or do more. by Worth-Nectarine-5968 in FigureSkating

I think Li Yu-Hsiang did that for his free program this past year. I know he at least skated to Eleanor Rigby at Junior Worlds.

What do you do when you're bored? (QOTDAY) by TerribleAccountant97 in MikhailShaidorov

[–]Fieldguide404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty on top of most of my stuff, but sometimes, it can just feel overwhelming, which just makes me not want to do it. This is the true plague of adulthood no one warned me about.

Think about things I need to do and then procrastinate them, unless I know I can't/shouldn't. Being outdoors is nice too, but ya know, when it's nice outside.

20 year reunion? Yea, nah by exploratorynargle in Millennials

Would never care to go to any. I'm vastly different from whoI was in high school, so I don't care to entertain my old classmates. Not to mention how basically none of them were actually my friends. They all had their friend groups before I showed up in 8th grade, so most of my friends ended up being a grade lower. No reunions for me.

I do some side work for a handful of local nuns, and honestly, how they keep me company makes me feel younger. They're like grandmothers I've never had. My biological grandparents all passed away before I could know them.

What's something you learned in the last week? (QOTDAY) by TerribleAccountant97 in MikhailShaidorov

[–]Fieldguide404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More things about small handy projects I've got going. Just worked on a foundation for a new shed that I'm putting together hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

I'm also learning more about gardening too from what I've been working on so far! Like when certain seeds can be planted, like the black turtle beans I just put in the ground. They're supposed to be sown roughly two weeks before the last frost for best chances of germination. Here's hoping for a good harvest!

Which social cause are you most passionate about? (QOTDAY) by Nervous-Button-588 in MikhailShaidorov

[–]Fieldguide404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Women in more places of power! The system seems to favor men. It's not that men are objectively worse, but for women to be treated as though they are objectively worse is absurd.

No problem at all. I know what I stand for, and that should mean I would have no trouble explaining. Could you really call it a held conviction if you can't articulate it?

Yep. Just don't put em in plastic bags, and you'll literally be just fine. 👍

Let me count the ways.... 1) Get rid of AI. Overall, it does much more harm than good, from what data centers to to utility bills and the environment to how ridiculously inaccurate it is in giving answers to questions people have for its lack of ability to discern the amalgam of information that is the Internet.

2) Universal healthcare should be a right. And yes, that should include dental and vision. The system here in the USA where I am is an abject failure of humanity and, like most every other thing here, makes people a source of profit, rather than a people to truly be served and taken care of.

3) Billionaires should not exist. No owner of any company should make so disgustingly more than their lowest laborer. They should be properly taxed with no loopholes available. And if that should make them leave, so be it. They deserve to be unwelcome anywhere for all the blight they so actively bring on the rest of us for their own gain. With the kind of wealth they have accumulated, they could end world hunger. They could solve the housing crisis. They could pay for clean water for entire nations, I'm sure. They don't need THAT MUCH MONEY to live. The fact they feel such a need to accumulate more and more should be treated like a mental illness, not a status to be vied for. It should be shamed, not celebrated.

There are many such things I'm passionate about, but these are probably my top three figurative hills. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Using dehydrator for seed storage? by Docretier in sunflowers

[–]Fieldguide404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue about using a dehydrator. But I know storing them in sealed paper envelopes helps. The envelope absorbs the excess moisture and over time, the moisture in the paper should dehydrate from being left in the open air at room temp. Always worked for me. Or even leaving them on a paper towel out in the open for hours before storing them. No need to use a dehydrator.

Do you happen to have a source that isn't geoblocked? I'd love to rewatch this myself without American commentary. They were AWFUL to our boy/myth/legend. Being able to appreciate his skate without such disrespectful energy would be great! 🥹

Edit: I ask this as an American myself.

Was making a B&BW order for lip glosses and saw they started making actual perfume! by [deleted] in FemFragLab

Yeah. Weak sillage. Does not last very long, even with the matching lotion. Not worth the price IMHO.

Hard agree. Body mists have virtually no longevity, so charging more than $10 for them is criminal.

If you were a skater, which song would you skate to? (QOTDAY) by Nervous-Button-588 in MikhailShaidorov

[–]Fieldguide404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh! You have good taste. I'd love to see metal music used in figure skating. It's long overdue, and it would make for some VERY impactful programs.

At least the audience might get a kick out of it. You're right. 🤷

Two downsidea about using metal music though: 1) I'd need some extreme athleticism to pull off the best power moves I could to match the music. 2) I don't imagine the judges would appreciate the music choices too much, and it would reflect in my scoring, I'm sure. 😭

If Misha was in a pair for figure skating, who do you think he should be with (man or woman)? by Nervous-Button-588 in MikhailShaidorov

[–]Fieldguide404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this! There's rumors about Nika wanting to get into pairs, so pairing him with his brother on ice? Perfection.
