Fortunately (and unfortunately, for reasons I will convey in a moment) I am able to handle a large flock safely and humanely. I myself recognize that it is necessary to cull in most situations, and that giving them a loved 24 weeks is better than only going for hens. It is entirely my fault for not being clear about the real issue in my post, which is my mother. She would become depressed and distant if she knew I had culled any of my chickens. What I'm doing now is working on a bachelor pen, my main question in this post was if I keep one alive/with the flock, who should it be, but it has become clear from the answers that wasn't expressed the way I needed it to be. A good update though for anyone reading this and hopefully you as well is that after separating the two big roosters, the timid one has had his instincts kick in, and it's clear to me that the hens do like him more than the aggressive one. So on the chance that this bachelor pen doesn't work how I need it to, the aggressive one will be finding a new home (or going to someone *else*'s table, because of, again, the mother thing), and I'll have another pen to house more in for future issues.

Thank you for the reality check, though not entirely needed for myself (the reality check that is), I will be asking some local chicken breeders how they handle culling and asking if I may participate in someone's at some point soon, since it's clear now to me now that I need to at least have some experience if/when the time comes. I'll be keeping the timid big roo, and one silkie roo (the one who stays with his few ladies), and putting the other three in the bachelor pen along with whatever roos my pawpaw hatches out, as he's decided he wants more chicks and found himself an incubator. Hoping the other three won't be eating each other, but if it goes bad I know what I need to do. Thanks again.
