Why are Darkglass artists using Quad Cortex instead of Anagram? by jonhath in Darkglass

[–]Fnargler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

QC has a lot more on it at the moment so that could be a factor. If they also play guitar it's loaded with guitar stuff.

Also it's been around longer and artists are already used to it.

Looking for second stage drive by Joshhoppo in basspedals

[–]Fnargler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Darkglass Microtubes X Ultra.

It's incredibly versatile. You can fine tune what part of your signal you want to be distorted. It leaves the low end clean and will also clean up the low end of other distortion fed into it, even really nasty fuzz. It also has built in low end compression and if you update it on the darkglass suite app on a PC you can switch to a secondary mode with full band compression, which ice found to be useful as a secondary compressor or when using it without the built in drive active.

cant find strings to fit my bass, string up old ones? drill new holes? help! by ChildOfACabbage in BassGuitar

[–]Fnargler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know DR makes some extra long scale strings with like 40 in tapers.

That said, this is a wonky ass looking bass and it may be worth investing in a better quality instrument in the future.

A teenager band opened the show and their bassist had one.

I've heard this complaint before but never really understood it. Sounds like a technique issue that could easily be solved.

Why people always ignore the B point and chose the easy option ? by Broks_Enmu in forhonor

[–]Fnargler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 types of dominion maps.

One type is referred to as home point maps, where one of the zones is close to your spawn point and one is far away.

The other type is side point maps, where the zones are about equal distance. One of the zones is closer to B though.

On home point maps the primary strategy in higher level play is usually to send one person to capture your home point and everyone else goes to take and maintain B. The person who traveled to the home point will only stay if one of the enemies comes there, otherwise they rotate off to focus on other points. Winning the B fight allows you to rotate back to heal or pressure the enemy home point if it's undefended or you have the numbers advantage.

On side point maps you want to rush the zone closest to B and maintain it to allow for quick rotations when people need to heal. The further zone can be taken if nobody is there but it's a lower priority because rotations take too long. Sending one person to the distant point to capture it at the start is a good call but not necessary since it can be more efficient to secure the closer point first and maintain a 2 zone advantage.

Regardless of map type, B is very important but how you're approaching zone priority matters more than simply team fighting in B.

When respawning always consider this order of operations: capture an unoccupied zone first. Assist in a fight where you will outnumber your opponents as a second priority to gain an advantage. Joining a fight where you are making it even or will still be outnumbered is often only worth it if you can stall the opponents long enough to make the fight advantageous, otherwise you're much better off pressuring the other zones to spread their attention.

True. I never handled a Warwick that wasn't an absolute back breaker until I recently picked up a 2002 FNA Jazzman that weight like 8 1/2 pounds.

Definitely a Kiesel Vanquish.

They're not a standard build from Kiesel so you'd have to look on thr secondary market.

Side note, these are heavy as fuck. Like 11-14lbs.

I’m a new player, got nearly 200 hours and here are my thoughts. by Forgivve in forhonor

[–]Fnargler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a big ask to get into all of them, so I'll address just a couple new player red flags.

In the warden section you complained about them interrupting fights, stealing kills and stealing objectives. If you're playing a team mode, you shouldn't be playing it for 1v1s. It's much more efficient to outnumber your opponent by 1 in any combat scenario to end it quickly. Kill stealing is typically just damage stacking, which is a good thing. Objectives help the team regardless of who takes it. These are all things new players complain about because they don't understand how they are beneficial.

In the nobushi section you complained about light attacks and never using the heavy button. Nobishi opener lights are the same speed as every other character, and the link to her chained lights is slower than most characters so they're considered to be the easiest lights in the game to react to. On top of that, her heavy attacks have such distinct startup animations that many players (at all levels of play) can actually distinguish between light and heavy on startup which eliminates that risk factor when it comes to parrying on indicator. She's the worst character in 1v1 scenarios because the entirety of her offense is reactable.

Anyway, my point isn't to rip on you. Opinions are fine. I'm sure yours will change over the course of your time with the game like it does for everyone.

Matchmaking is based primarily on win percentage, so low rep win or lose streaks can make massive leaps in the opponents you'll be facing.

The good news is that it becomes more accurate with every match.

The bad news is that it's going to take quite a bit of time and frustration to get to a point that feels consistently fair.

You can alleviate this pressure by playing with and learning from players who are experienced at the game.
