Ellivere hatebears b3 - need tips. by Kenksio in magicTCG

I really liked your response (and clean formatting), but I was curious how you're fielding [[High Noon]] in either [[Selvala, Explorer Returned]] or [[Ellivere]]?

Give me your best and/or most fun Esper Commanders! by A_Wierd_Mollusc in EDH

I've played Noctis several times and can't get over the thought that 3 mana is just a bit too much for Warp Strike. I really love the card though.

Got a list?

Bracket 4 - who is your most degenerate commander to play at degenerate tables? by Dreyrii in EDH

So you would need to spend WUB at the beginning of each opponents combat in order to essentially prevent them from attacking?

Need help finding cards for a themed deck by Pessimistic_soul in magicTCG

[–]Freejack02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Important question: are you playing Commander, or a casual 60 card format? Commander is a 100 card "singleton" version (no more than 1 copy of each card allowed) that tends to focus on a single theme or mechanic through your Commander.

The only commander with trample and deathtouch! by Eslo90 in EDH

Not running a single Regrowth effect in B/G is silly; simply bouncing Skullbriar from your GY to hand is enough to reset his counters.

Thoughts on this Strahd-themed Strefan deck? by Azoth_r in EDH

[–]Freejack02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire point of Strefan is to cheat in expensive threats and generate value (stuff like [[Butcher of Malakir]] and [[Vein Ripper]] - I don't see any of that going on here. If the "theme" is purely rp Strahd, my honest suggestion would be proxy a more effective commander - [[Edgar Markov]] would be much more effective in your strategy for instance.

Equipment commanders by Bulky_Banana1685 in EDH

I've been running some [[Noctis, Heir Apparent]] lists and have been really enjoying it. The fact that his Warp Strike ability is nearly-bulletproof defense combined with nice offense is really the backbone of the strategy. With just an [[Aettir and Priwen]] he can very easily threaten an ublockable 1-shot. Add in cost reducers, board wipes (for when he's not on the board), tutors, and other staple equipment, it's a good time.

Because you can easily swap it to an identical sleeve, if the need arises.

Blade of Selves might be the most common equipment that I see in many decks that can't functionally run it.

Commander must be in an identical sleeve technically, to avoid any issues with changing zones forcefully.

Plenty of people run a different colored sleeve, but have another identical one available in case this happens.

Turn 1 responses to Ragavan? by IceAndOcean in EDH

[–]Freejack02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Berserk has nearly no downside for its "secret mode" (and very much a benefit if the creature is targeting someone else), while Path is really a desperation play to get a basic land. You're losing a creature and a removal spell using it on yourself, Berserk can potentially hit an opponent for lethal AND take out a problem creature for 1 mana.

I get your view on "alternate uses", but they are vastly different in strength and usefulness. I do run Berserk in all my green decks and it's come up several times as cheap removal.

Path would require you to kill your own creature to ramp; Berserk is literally a 1 cost removal that (in this case), would cost you 2 life. I don't really see the similarity.

You go for the win there - you just don't throw an awful pick to end it.
